Magic TV MTV3700TD / MTV4000PVR

Set and forget simplicity! – I bought my Magic TV PVR second hand for $100 early last year. I don't know how I went so long without one! I've had no issues with this unit since purchase - I'm not sure if there is still official after-purchase support for it, but I have been able to get recent firmware updates online still. Updates can be done by flash drive or online if… Read more · 1
connected by network cable.
The 1TB hard-drive is adequate for our recording needs. It records well, with no problems with quality etc.
The interface is the best I have seen for a PVR. Certainly better than the Topfield I was considering purchasing at the same time. The EPG refreshes regularly, and I've had no issue with it being inaccurate.
I have heard nothing but rave reviews for this unit, and its easy to see why. I'd get another as a backup unit if I could find one!
Love It Still After 5 years – I own or have owned the following Set top boxes over the years. Two early models of Topfield (Hated them both, gave them away after a couple months) Telstra T-box ( wasnt too bad considering it was first generation etc.) Then I bought my Magic TV box in 2010 and presently have a Samsung blu-ray STB combo (Not too bad slow tv guide tho) and a Fetch… Read more
TV box ( I hate this one for it's remote too crowded too many buttons do same thing etc ) Back to the Magic TV box.... from the very start was impressed with it but was over awed by the search capabilities of this machine, the jump forward by the number minutes by pressing the corresponding number key function is, in my mind, unsurpassed to this date by any machine I have ever owned. The remote is laid out perfectly and easy to access. The TV guide is also fantastic, again no other machine can match this. My machine is now just over 5 years old and it's never let me down, I will be extremely saddened the day it dies and it cannot replace it
Great Product – This is one of the best designed products I have ever used. Extremely intuitive to use unlike many other PVR's. Ultra reliable and almost 4 years down the track has never had any issues at all. Unfortunately it is no longer available in Australia but if available second hand I would not hesitate to buy another one
It has been a reliable machine and does TV recording well – It is very user friendly and records your shows reliably and I have never had an issue with it in the 4+ years I've owned it. I wanted to be able to play movies off an external drive when I purchased it way back in 2010-2011 (I don't remember) but it really did not do that well. There are better ways to watch downloaded movies now anyway, but if you want something simple that works as PVR than this is it.
Great Unit especially for the price – The Magic TV has been great. We have ran both the MTV3700 and MTV4000 firmware and settled on the freview version (MTV3700) mainly due to the better EPG and series link button. We only paid about $300 for the unit and it has been exceptional value. One of the key selling points was the low power use and very low standby power consumption,… Read more
especially when compared to the TIVO. Great Functionality and Very low standby power Occasional bug, but not too many
Great compact functional unit – Bought a Magic TV MTV4000PVR 1TB Twin HD PVR from Jungle Jumble online store back in August (2011) (for $327+ $17 shipping) and it has performed really well. It is easy to use with clear sensible menus, has a sensitive tuner so works well with a quality indoor antenna, and has presented no issues so far. Ease of use, clear sensible menus, priced well, compact and quiet unit, low standby power, neat appearance
