DO NOT BUY! Rubbish Product, Rubbish Customer Service – I purchased a Makita combo kit (DLX2283S) which came with 2 x 3.0Ah batteries (BL1830B). A week later, needed a blower. I was looking at the DUB186SF combo kit however on the good & correct advise of the guy at Bunnings, he advised to purchase the blower skin only as the battery from the drill/driver combo is the same model. Purchased it, fully charged the battery and used it on the blower…. To my surprise, it last 5-7mins in the blower. Called Makita (1300361690) besides the rudest customer service rep (Brandon) I had to deal with, I tried explaining the situation. He advised that with the 3.0Ah battery it is the correct duration (5mins)??? He mentioned it is only designed for patios and I should’ve have purchased a 6.0 or 5.0Ah battery. I pleaded my case stating that Makita offered this kit as a combo at Bunnings and Sydney Tools. I politely asked him… “so the combo kit Makita offers is not fit for service”. Obviously he couldn’t answer me. Only suggestion he could offer was to take it to a service centre. Disappointing experience with both customer service (Brandon) and product. This will be the last time I purchase rubbish Makita products!!! Should of stuck with Milwaukee.

Convenient, light, maneuverable and powerful for the size – I got this for quick clear-ups when I can't be bothered to get out the heavy mains-power blower (and grovel on the floor to find the outdoor power sockets etc) - I wasn't expecting it to be a complete replacement. But this is plenty powerful enough to easily clear dry leaves, gum-nuts and small twigs off the paths around my house. It is much easier to manoeuvre and the curved end gets into tight corners to direct the rubbish where you want it, where the bigger, heavier mains unit just blasts stuff everywhere and you end up going back over what you have already done. One fully charged 5AH battery is more than enough to do a carport, longish drive, right around the house and fair size patio in a 'bushy' area with lots of debris.
Not quite so effective with wet stuff, so I just wait for things to dry.
Good value for money if you already have Makita 18V batteries & charger. And soooo much more convenient than my old mains-power blower that I know I will never use it again - it has just gone out onto the nature strip with a 'Free to good home' sign.
