More a tribute than a review because Masport Quantum XTS60 is simply unbreakable – Just mowed the lawn today, a bi-weekly event using this Masport Quantum XTS 60, bought at my local Bunnings Warehouse 20 years ago. How can I possibly say anything bad about it?! It is still going strong! I don't even service it regularly. For years I did not service it until I shared it with my neighbour and so between us we used it weekly. Did that for a couple of years before neighbour bought their own mower.

I did lend it to a friend who managed to rip the cord out of it and made it work poorly trying to fix it himself. That was the first time I took it in for service and thank God they (Mower Power) fixed it. Shop owner told me it is worth keeping, not like some other junk. He did well selling me a Shindaiwa whipper snipper which is fantastic (and I have since bought a Shindaiwa blower as well).

Sorry I have digressed. Back to the Masport Quantum XTS 60, I did not change the oil regularly. Replaced the blade twice over the years and sparks plugs once or may be twice. It is simply unbreakable! The stickers have come off. The plastic surrounds (bumpers) have come off. Front wheels have turn to slick wheels. And of course a new cord replacing the one my friend put in. But other than that, it is perfect. It almost always starts on first pull. I do sharpen the blade almost every run. But I am not nice to it because I actually flip it over to sharpen the blade which can flood the carburettor. I don't clean or change the air filter either. Because the chassis is aluminium, it doesn't rust. I always mulch rather than catch. Not sure if it’s because of the single blade design, it does mulch very well, and clippings don't get caught up and accumulate on the disc like it would if there are four small blades mounted on a disc like most new mowers. If my neighbour didn't use the catcher, it would have been perfectly new. :D

After all these years of punishments and neglect I put it through, it is still running strong, how can I not absolutely love this mower?! I have my doubts but hope new ones are just as good. I would buy another Masport with Briggs and Stratton motor any day!
