ALDI Medion 500GB

Amazing – this hard drive is better than others. I've used external hard drive since 2007. until now it works great. I only reformat this external drives once. and i started putting files and other programs too. the medion external drive was so amazing. Great for small files only – I have two 1TB Medion hddrive 2 GO which worked very well for about two years. Used them for backup of multiple large encrypted files (64Gb solid binary each basilcally) until the first one failed on a backup. Copied off all the files to another disk without losing any. copy a large directory now (16.2 GB with 7,000 plus files) and the second one has also just failed on a copy. For the price they were very good. Did a great job. BUT I do not believe that drives should fail with only occasional heavy use (like once month ??). Thus not not worth buying.

Good value – Initially I stored movies on it and watched movies from it - no problems. Now, I store Xbox one games on it . Its plugged into my Xbox continuously. No problems so far - had it for many months now. Great value for money. I would recommend it to anyone.

Drive just failed – The laptop HDD inside the MEDION enclosure has just failed. I used it infrequently, but put my MP3 music collection on it. After playing music from it all night it has failed. The disk inside is a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB unit. It has just given up completely... I was very happy with it, however now I am not. Small, light, good capacity, cheap Worked great until it failed catastrophically

Medion drive & go 500GB USB powered – Had it for over 12 month absolutely great no problems and easy to use, reasonable transfer rate and no errors or loss of data to date. The price was really cheap from Aldi and the unit has functioned as described.
