Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (2006-2026) Questions & Answers
Also referred to as: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2025 and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2027.Need help I have an early 2006 sprinter it isn't changing down gears it's automatic, I just had a transmission fella do a service on the gearbox and he said there isn't anything wrong with it, he suggested it could be a TPS needs changing I told him it blood black smoke he said it would be your turbo, when I use tiptronic to change down gears it blows worse black smoke, when I come to allowing down I feel it change down and if I turn the engine of and reset the computer sometimes it will work perfectly other times it won't. I have a Garrett.53 turbo on my van and it's a 313 CDI, I've looked on line and I can find a GT1852V TURBO but I'm not sure if this is the rite one I need. There are no lights on my dash showing the problem so I'm just winging it. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can fix this or will that turbo work if I purchase it?

Hi All. I have a 2015 MB Sprinter 513. It was all going good but yesterday, I could not turn the fob key in the ignition. I tried wiggling the steering wheel, checked it was in Park, changed the batteries in the Fob, checked the vehicle battery, fuses) but nothing. It is locked in place. Does anyone have any ideas, please? Thanks.
Ignition module seems to go on these after 10 years. You need to get a locksmith to repair so it will allow the ignition to turn.

my sprinter is stuck in park how do move this as its not starting
Check your brake lights to make sure all are working correctly. If they are, the brake light switch could be intermittent. You can check it with an ohmmeter or simply replace it because it's inexpensive. This is one of the most common causes of the shift lever being stuck in Park.
I have put new clutch kit on my Mercedes benz sprinter 5 15 cdi but still doesn't take gears, what could be the problem?

I have a 2003 2.1 litre engine in Australia.Mine has been reliable but I had a similar problem. Below and behind the drivers side head light there is a turbo vacuum control solenoid that went bad on me. the solenoid appeared to have a circuit, but the unit stopped functioning. It is a small black box with some vacuum tubes and an electrical plug. I found an after market one reasonably priced. It took me a while to find this problem and as my turbo wasn't boosting, 50ks and hour up hills. It has worked great since. Where possible don't by Mercedes stuff as it is expensive and overrated..

My elderly father recently bought a new Mercedes sprinter 2021 model. He informs me he cannot find the Adblue filling point. Unfortunately, we live in different States and I cannot check it for him. I've sent him links to Mercedes Sprinter Adblue videos, however he tells me there is no blue lid or anything obvious. Can anyone assist with helping locate the filler?
Under the hood, driver side, right in front.
Thanks Kurt. Dad says he’s looked and it’s not there. No blue cap anywhere.

21 reviews above are ng for automatic transmissions Is auto still a problem ? And would a manual be a better choice for reliability in a motorhome
YES! You will thank yourself in the long run. The automatic boxes give out with little prior notice. If you can find one get the workshop manual off ebay in a disc form (about $10) then look at the exploded view of the automatic gearbox compared to the manual. The auto when they fail are expensive as hell to fix. Manuals will run like the engine if treated well. All you'll need is the usual clutch replacement when needed which a normal mechanic can do. The autos need to be taken into a Mercedes-Benz service centre. It actually works out cheaper. Don't even bother searching for a local mechanic to work on the auto. You will end up getting ripped off. We took it to a place in North Ringwood on Dorset Rd. I won't name and shame the guy (even though he deserves it). Quoted over $9000.00 and would give no guaranteeon his work. We took it to Mercedes-Benz in Berwick under half the price with a 3yr or 50,000km guarantee on the gearbox.
Loved the manual
THANKS ...will look for manual transmission gearbox!! did merc dealership say if the auto gearbox problem was quality issue (usa built ) or design ie service must be strictly adhered to?.....most blogs indicate hi mileage approx 1000000 miles and over
Hi there, I have a 1999 Sprinter with a 2.9L diesel engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. The turn signals were working fine then all of a sudden stopped so did the hazards. Can someone please tell me where is the flasher relay located so I can test/replace it. I had a look under the steering colum(where the fuses are)and under the driver's seat with no luck. Much appreciated.
Anybody know where in Melbourne I can get the automatic transmission changed to a manual box? I've been told that around 100-120k the automatic system craps out. As Ours Has. Mercedes-Benz Berwick were great. A fair price and guaranteed work. HALF the price quoted by a rip-off mechanic from Ringwood North in Dorset Road. If anybody looks up mercedes repair and thinks of using this guy...DON'T. He treats you like a personal ATM.
