The arm that closes the drawer completely has come loose from the drawer. How can this be fixed again?

When turned on , all the control lights are on and the fan runs. None of the controls on the panel work and the device only turns off when the power at the wall is turned off.

How do you remove the sliding drawer to clean below

In July 2021 we found our ESW 5080-29 Warming Drawer would no longer close. I was referred by Miele to a repairer who replaced the hydraulic strut for $351 of which $288 was for the new strut sourced directly from Miele. I found the cost of the exact same 5156VZ strut from Stabilus Aust was $81. I complained to Miele who refunded $179. I recently had another drawer closing issue which also appeared to be a strut failure. I ordered another strut online from Stabilus at $98. Removing the Warming Drawer is easy. Unscrew the two screws (one on each side) which attach the unit to the wall. Slide the whole unit towards you until you can unplug its power cord (LHS at rear) then remove the unit to your work area. (WARNING: It is quite heavy and can topple and crash because it over-balances with a fully open drawer). Note that from here on you need a T20 star-bit to undo the screws. The top and rear of the unit is protected by a one-piece steel cover panel. Undo those screws, three each side and three low down at the back (9 screws) and this cover panel is easily removed, exposing all the gizzards of the warming drawer. I found a layer of fat covering the floor of the unit (under the drawer) which needed cleaning. I then undid two more identical screws and removed the electrical socket at the left rear. Low down on each side of the drawer, near the front, is a small rubber plug which hides a screw attaching the drawer to its slide rails. Remove these two screws allowing the drawer to be completely removed from the unit. Just ease the power cable out of its U-shaped guide on the left side and carefully slide out the drawer. I used a scraper then hot water and detergent to remove all the fat. I then found the hydraulic strut was working fine but the small peg under the centre rear of the drawer had broken from rough use or ignorance. This peg engages the strut-operated fork to pull the drawer fully closed when the drawer is pushed shut. Careful use of a longer screw and Selleys Araldite fixed that little sucker. Then just reverse the dismantling process to put the whole unit back together. The purchase of the new $98 strut was un-necessary, but I’ll probably save it for the future.

How to remove the warming drawer on my ESW 5080-29 Miele

Hi there, to uninstall the warming drawer from its niche there are 2 screws located on the side uprights as shown in the operators manual >> installing the appliance section. It is not possible for you to remove the actual warming drawer from the unit, a Miele service technician is required due to the risk of damage or electric shock. Kind regards, Anna.
