works well - when it works . Wildly expensive to fix – So, we absolutely loved our miele induction cooktop - except when we hated it. It was very sensitive and would sometimes turn itself off for seemingly no reason. BUT most of the time it worked well. And when it did it cooked the food marvellously. Also, I Loved! how easy it is to clean. Just wipe down and you're done. Now, we installed it in 2010 and by 2013 it had stopped working - error messages every time. Then would work for 20 mins and then stop. And if one burner stops working they all do. Aaargh. No warranty on it so we have to pay to fix it. Miele "service" - they said they could have someone out in 3 weeks! with a family to cook for this was not an option. So I paid a private repairer whom we have used before. The miele parts cost almost $1000 to fix it. Crazy expensive in my opion. The repairer said he sees a lot of the same problem with induction in general but the miele cost was high for the parts. He said it is always easiest to fix gas if there is a problem.
So, we are now renovating a new house. Will we get a miele induction - hmmmm. Jury is out. When it works it is fabulous. The cost of replacing the parts was almost worth how good it was when it did work and also how easy it is for cleaning. I hate having to take off gas hobs and put them back on. But, I might just look at another brand. Only problem is that, having read many reviews, most induction seems to have similar problems. Even the other high end ones like bosch and gaggenau. Miele is a pain because the service is so rubbish that you have to wait forever to get help if your machine stops working.
We did however have a miele oven and dishwasher which both worked very well. I would get those again.
Excellent – Temperature control from merest simmer to full boil. Reaches maximum temperature very, very quickly. Also cools to minimum quickly. Very easy to clean with flat surface. Absolute control over temperature. No scorching of pans like a gas cooktop. Very safe, if it's not steel it doesn't get hot. Can be a little sensitive to items such as plates or cloths left over the sensor touch controls. Need special convection cookware- aluminium bottoms wont work
