Miele T 8823 C Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhat is the setting with the hottest temperature?
Cottons with Extra Dry. In many programmes, the heating phase is followed by a cooling down phase to ensure that the items are not too hot to handle when you remove them. The programme is not finished until the cooling down phase is complete.
Many thanks.
I have a T1 condenser dryer. I have cleaned all the filters but the red light won’t go off switch it off at the wall, opened and closed the door. Still not working ??
This issue is a simple fix. All you have to do is locate the temperature sensor at the back of the machine, near where the element is. Unscrew it, and move the sensor away from the hot metal surface to a slightly cooler place. Leave it dangling in the air, but do keep it electrically connected.
This will fix the problem permanently
Frank, would you have any photos of when you did it to recognise the temperature sensor in question? Thanks. Peter
No, because this was done a couple of years ago. It's at the back. You take the back cover and locate the heating element, and right next to the heating element is something that looks a bit like a small round metal rod screw to the metal interior. Basically this little metal rod is too sensitive. It needs to be moved away from the direct heat source.

I also have a Miele T8823C dryer that does the same as many others . The Clean Out Airways light flashes after a short time and Buzzer sounds and this continues with machine stopping constantly. This is a DUD machine. It is no longer under warranty but has seldom been used. Do I have any recourse for a replacement? It seems this model should be recalled. I would never recommend Miele products if this cannot be resolved.
I was promised a call by Miele before publishing our own review and we waited for over a week and nothing, So I would not hold my breath that they will make an effort to contact you...
I have a MIELE T8823C. Dryer, the light keeps coming on saying clean out the airways,I have cleaned out the airways regularly. I have had a technician from Miele out but it comes back on again. I hardly use the dryer. Although this is out of warranty I feel something should be done by Miele The dryer is not is not fit for the purpose it was sold as. This problem is appearing so regularly on the internet Miele should protect their name and do something..
They are a lemon Miele has hade a dud. If you have one send it to the tip.
I have the dryer with the same model and with the same problem. The tip could be the way to go. I hope that Miele can do something even from the environmental perspective.
I have a miele dryer t 8823 c the residue water from the dryer is not going into the plastic sleeve and is creating a lot of moisture in the laundry. It is however drying the items normally What could be the problem?
I have same problem
Any feedback?
Hi, I have the honeycomb combo, haven't been able to use the dryer as after about 20 seconds it beeps asking to have the load re balanced, tried everything, even tried with nothing in it and still did the same, please help..
Hello i am having the same problem beeping genberally 10 mins into the cycles and saying clean airways even tho they are clean..My washing machine and dryer exactly 6 years old ..Is that the dryers life?? we are building a new house is it worth me chucking the dryer ...This continually beeping and not drying is driving me insane!! Whats the point of paying the miele price..
My dryer and washing machine are about the same age. Mine was beeping constantly until I spoke to someone who said to take the 2 curved filters out and wash them in hot water or soak them. A lot of the problems with the dryers are caused by a build up of washing detergent in the filter from drying. I washed these out and haven’t had a problem since.
thanks i will try that !! but i keep them fluff free each time i will give them a soak then
just give them a soak and wash and you will see the difference straight away.
Hi Annie, it sounds like their may be a blockage in the condenser box. This will need to be done by a Miele technician who can look at the machine and determine if this is the root of the issue. Best to call us on 1300 464 353 and our team member can assist in organising a service. Kind regards, Keith.
ok but at this time i cant afford call out fees! . I have given the filters a hot soak etc and scrubbed and we may be back on track i trust... is the condenser box the one on the bottom left that that i clean out regulary anyway!? or is the condenser box just the top left water container that i empty after each drying session?
What does a service cost????
another Question on my washing machine to match is the door seal??? regulary needing cleaning i use white king or metho... its bad design for build up of scum any hints??
Hi Annie, to ensure you are provided the right information please call us on the number above and our team will assist you with next steps and answer any questions you have. Kind regards, Keith.
Hi Annie - I’ve been having exactly the same problems - soaking mine Filters in warm water with vinegar to dissolve the detergent build up has just let me do my first back to back drying load in 5 years
yes!! I haven't had any beeping problems this week!! Thanks for all the advice . I did a boiling hot kettle water soak and scrub of the curved filters ...i thoroughly get rid of all fluff build up each time i use the dryer anyway so... will see how long it lasts..be great if i have actually stopped the beeping!!!
Hi Annie, we've had this issue and today I decided to attack it and thoroughly clean out the airways in our Miele T8823c. I started off by removing the front panel, disconnecting and cleaning the front temp sensor directly under the front door, huge masses of fine lint caked in the sensor and all walls of the front air duct manifold. I then unscrewed, removed and thoroughly cleaned out the manifold, full if lint. Once the air duct manifold is removed its also possible to clean the main impeller fan, again caked in lint and dried soap. After reassembly I've been able to dry several loads one after the other, something I've not been able to do in years... The main culprit for the error is the lint caking onto the front temperature sensor, this sensor is in the centre under the two lint filters.
I have had my current Miele T8823C for 5 years (and bought a washing machine too) and paid for 4 technician callouts. Always starts beeping after 10/15 mins. The filters are clean as a whistle BUT - when I took the main filter out at the bottom the dryer I found a reservoir of water inside at the back of the opening. I have a tiny laundry room in an apartment (1 Person) so to have 2 technicians in to lift it off the washer is a nightmare. The Irishman from South Melbourne lifted it into place on his own:)) I have never had so much trouble with a Miele dryer in the 15 years I have been using them. Any help appreciated before I buy something else.
Hi Helen, If the drain hose is not set up then the condensed water container may be getting full and causing the dryer to stop. The condensed water container must be emptied after every drying program used. There are two fluff filters for this model: one in the door and the other at the bottom of the door opening. The condenser unit should also be cleaned at least twice a year, see Operating Instructions. If this does not assist then please email me at prsupport@miele.com.au and I can have our Miele team contact you to assist further. Kind regards, Joel.
I have emailed you a photo of the challenge. Thanks for your prompt response. Cheers Helen
Thanks Helen, we have received your email and will be in contact as soon as possible. Kind regards, Joel.

Hi. I have the same issue. Where is the condenser container please ? And how do you empty it ?
Same problem as everyone else and extremely frustrated with performance, cost of repairs, and inconvenience this product has caused us. Is there anything that can be done by Miele other us throwing it in the bin?
We are currently awaiting tech to advise repair cost and what is wrong with ours this time. So frustrating, waiting to decide if we chuck it (plus tip fees) and cut our losses. call centre only advises to book the service tech and can offer no further assistance, sorry for the inconvenience really doesn’t suffice
Cut your losses and take it to the tip, and never buy a miele brand item again. We've had the same never ending battle....... pay a fortune for a piece of junk. They should recall them and replace if they want to repair the damage it's done to the brand.
Totally agree. I’m thinking of trashing ours and buying a Ferrari - requires less maintenance and is far easier to clean and replace filters. Probably cheaper to service.
Clean filters
this dryer has an obvious design fault, of 78 reviews, 75 state the same thing! Doesn't work from day one, continual fault due to venting. I have emailed as instructed, and am going to buy a new dryer today (wet weekend predicted and guests over).
Has there been a recall or fix for this faulty drier issued? Just throwing money away calling technician, and I'm about to get appliances for 3 homes. Please contact me ASAP if there has been a fix.
Miele sent out a technician that finally resolved the fault by replacing two parts. To date we have not had any further problems.
Excellent - control board and heated by chance?
And what did it cost?
Probably a lot. I called Miele today. Both reps I spoke to had never heard of this issue. Amazing. I told them to Google it
I am over this machine. I thought it was just me. Now that I have read all these I will be seeking Miele assistances as the service man told me nothing wrong with it!!!!!
The only fix is to dump the machine and never buy Miele again. Trust me.
Agreed, waiting till winter to do so. Miele offered me a deal on a new dryer. I need a dryer not a boat anchor!
Hi Miele, i have the same problem as everyone above witg the clean out airways always red and dryer stopping every 5 minutes, and wet clothes. Im over it!!!
Any chance replacing my model?
Hi Naomi, we apologise for the inconvenience of this matter. Are you able to send me an email with your full name and best contact number to prsupport@miele.com.au and we will be in contact as soon as possible? Kind regards, Anna.
Great idea Anna. Make more $ for Miele from Naomi through exorbitant service call outs for a common problem. Amusing
Did you get yours fixed and if so what was the cost and the issue/parts replaced. I’m guessing I’ll pay the call out then they will probably have to order the part so was hoping for a ballpark figure as ours has the same issue
We have a Miele dryer T8423C. It works a few times om Normal and then won't. We switch to Extra Dry and it works a few times then won't. We have to therefore keep alternating. Is there an easy fix? Thank you
Has anyone had Miele repair this dryer and had it miraculously start working? It has been a lemon from day 1 and Miele kindly offered me a free "call-out" - only to suggest over $500 worth of repairs including $60 for a vent "that allows more air to flow through" (surely this should be done for free if its a design fault). Just wondering if I should cut my losses and never buy another Miele appliance or go ahead with the repairs.
Hi Ally, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience of the matter. If possible, can you email your full name and best contact number to prsupport@miele.com.au and a member of our team will be in contact as soon as possible. Kind regards, Anna.
Hi Ally, not sure if you still have this dryer. We've had this issue and today I decided to attack it and thoroughly clean out the airways in our Miele T8823c. Why does my dryer saying clean out airways ? I’ve cleaned it out but still keeps coming up what do I do now
Hi Donna, thanks for your question. Unfortunately we are not able to determine the issue regarding your dryer. If you can please book a service call using external link or if you have any questions don’t hesitate to call us on 1300 464 353. Kind regards, Anna.
Rubbish product. Same issue. And service fees from Miele are astronomical. Never purchase this brand.

I bought TWO of these dryers and both have the same problem with the beeping. I've had Miele out to look at the dryers a couple of times. The technician turned off something that relates to detection of moisture setting. That has helped a bit but has not solved the issue entirely, the dryers cannot be used to dry loads one after the other without the clean filter warning beeping occurring frequently. Has anyone got any updates on whether Miele will recall these dryers? Clearly there is a massive issue with these dryers and its not "FIT FOR PURPOSE"
No, not only is there no recall; when you complain to Miele about this product, their 'service' department refers you to an external service company (they don't even so much as pass your details on to the external company, despite having asked about 20 questions before you can even submit the service request form), then the external service company wants to charge exorbitant sums to even visit your house. Incredible definition of 'service' for a completely rubbish product! I'm not surprised they don't want to spend any more money on this dud product; neither do I!!!! SO disappointed. Never bothering with Miele again.
Miele replaced my dryer. I think they realise there is a problem with this model.
How did you manage that?
Has anyone had any luck in getting a resolution to the problem off miele or replacement dryer?
2nd UPDATE - same problems started again a few weeks later. I have asked for the free assessment as I see that Miele has been leaving notes under these reviews. I will update afterwards UPDATE - the technician came and said i should have been cleaning the condenser unit at least twice a year - see page 30 of the instruction booklet. This appears to have fixed the problem.

Its a month later and the dryer is still working well and no beeping at all
I have cleaned my condenser unit many, many times, exactly as requested in the user manual and even "turned off" the warning using instructions provided by a technician. It STILL gives me the clean out airways warning. Faulty design.
It is clear that the Miele T8823C condenser dryer is fraught with several design faults so when is Miele going to do the decent thing and give all customers who have had and are currently having on-going problems with this dryer, a replacement (newer) model or a full refund?
I should've contacted them from day 1, but didn't, so not sure if Miele will come to the party now. All I can say is, my cheap Simpson dryer was more reliable
I have Miele T 8823c which I bought about 2 years ago as recommended by the sales people at Winnings. Ever since about 6 months of owning this product it constantly says "clean out airways" I then read the manual and cleaned out the filters and even cleaned out the one u need to open with the special tool and wash out with water and this helped for a about 3 loads and then it came up.
It seems to occur after every 2nd cycle I do I let it cool and then go again. It takes at least 4 cycles over a lot of hours to dry clothes. Now I see people complaining of this all the time but cant see if anyone has actually found a solution or should I call Miele to complain about this product??maybe I should just contact the ombudsman.
Any thoughts?
I would be asking them for a replacement as they are never able to correct the problem. They have not allowed enough ventilation in the cone on this model. Later model has corrected the problem. You will never stop this problem. Trust me. Keep calling them out and if under warranty demand a replacement now. I waited too long and now am stuck with it.
I waited too long too. It's a constant issue and the machine is faulty. Get a replacement if you have the time to fight for it. I don't have the time and will just ensure that I never purchase Miele again.
It's not too late. Australian Consumer Law would agree that it has not performed as expected and we should all be entitled to a refund or replacement. But Miele won't come to the party. They want us to pay for a technician and parts.
I wish to purchase a Condenser Dryer T8823C - Are they made in Germany?
Yes but don't buy it. Very unreliable
