Morphy Richards 48821 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHello, I have a Morphy Richards soup maker apparently with smart reaponse technology but although it lights up, nothing happens when I press start stop and the mode function doesn’t work. What do you suggest?
Good morning Vanessa Thank you for your enquiry. Please try the following ; When a Morphy Richards soup maker lights up but refuses to start or change modes, it usually means a built-in safety sensor has been triggered, the lid is seated incorrectly, or there is a loose connection. The following steps will help you reset and test the machine:Clean the sensors: Wipe down the lid sensor and the overfill probe. Trapped moisture or food particles here prevent the machine from registering that the lid is locked.Check liquid levels: Ensure your liquid is exactly between the MAX and MIN fill lines inside the jug. The machine will disable operation if it is overfilled.Perform a hard reset: Unplug the machine from the wall and leave it disconnected for 15 minutes to allow the internal thermostat to cool down. Plug it back in and hold the Start/Stop button for 10 seconds to clear the memory. Check ingredient size: Ensure all vegetables are cut to small, uniform sizes (around 1cm x 1cm). Large pieces or thick, starchy ingredients (like flour) can stick to the bottom, burn, and cause a safety cutoff. Test with water only: Assemble the empty, cleaned jug with the lid on and fill it to the MIN mark with cold water. If it starts normally, your previous batch may have triggered an error. If you have tried this and it still isn't working I will msg you to get some more information regarding warranty. Kind regards Morphy Richards
Hi my wife bought one of these and is quite disappointed that the issue seems to be the same as everyone else’s issue and I her husband has done everything that has been suggested so she will most likely go back to to get a ninja unless a remedy is found
Good morning Steve, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and I'm sorry to hear of your experience. I will reach out to you directly to get some additional information. Thank you
The soup maker is flawed, the heat is supplied for around 11 minutes before it goes into rest mode. All I can advise is you put less starchy products at the bottom and make sure you cut up the veg very small and fill with liquid to the full line make sure the liquid is cold, colder the better, the soup maker should have been built with a thermostat that controls the initial heating not relying on a timer, if you by chance don't put enough liquid in or the liquid is warmish the soup maker will cut out and start it's cycle again.
Good afternoon,
My soup maker just keeps blending no matter what I do? Any advice? Thank you
Hi Scott, thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear of this. Based on what you have described you check the sensor in case it was overfilled and/or make sure there is nothing obstructing the blades like food stuck. Thanks
First time use with this today and was just trying a red pepper and tomato soup with 1 potato chopped up made sure not to go over the max fill line . But no matter how many times I have tried it just switching off after only 1 minute
Hi nicholas080293, thank you for reaching out us. Based on what you have described check the lid and make sure that the censor is clean. Thanks

Just bought a soup a soup maker to replace my old one which I had had for years. My new soup maker seems to make the soup very watery even though I put in less water than recommended. I also put in plenty of vegetables and potato for thickening but it still comes out like water. Honestly do not understand as never had a problem with my old one.
Good afternoon Jackie Thank you for your enquiry. I will look into this issue and get back to you after discussing with the technical team regards Sharron
Good afternoon Jackie The Soup Maker should not increase the amount of water in a soup, unless the vegetables used contain a high-water content or additional water is added to the Soup Maker. Vegetables such as potatoes can add some starch as you have advised, or you can try the Chunky setting. Please let me know if you are still having the issue after trying the chunky setting or you may return the appliance to the store of purchase if you wish regards Sharron
I chop my veg put in the liquid and after a few mins it just turns off, I have to open stir the liquid it then comes back on but starts from scratch another 21 mins but it turns off after a few mins no error code just off completely it's a 48821
Hi Brian, Thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear of this. The most common reason why this may be occurring is due to overfilling. You should switch the unit off at the power source and remove the lid, wipe clean the over fill sensor, remove a little of the ingredients, replace the lid and continue cooking. Thanks
Hi why do I not get a error code E21 In my opinion it's turning off because the liquid is to hot I have tried to find a replacement KSD 301 heat control switch but can't find any Morphy Richards stockists?
Hi Brian, thanks, yes if it is used continuously on 3 or more cycles. If this happens, remove any food from the jug, and allow the Soup Maker to cool for 30 minutes. It should now work correctly, and you can continue making your soup. Also If the blend function is used continuously for more than 20 seconds a safety cut out will cut the power to prevent overheating. When this happens wait for 10 seconds before reusing the blend function. Thanks
I don't think you have read my question I put the ingredients in not overfilled switch it on after about two mins it just switches off no error codes the machine is not going into to rest mode it just keeps in my opinion over heating I keep taking the lid off stiring the hot liquid it then comes back on I have never used it for three cycles I can't manage one, sometimes it just keep boiling and boiling sometimes it cuts out I suspect the KSD 301 temp control switch is intermittent but I can't find a Morphy Richards part number for a replacement? Most of the complaints about this machine over heating cutting out you reply with the same reason, my machine cuts out because the machine is very hot and not going into rest mode, when I look at the bottom of the machine the soup is burnt onto bottom
Hi, I have a soup maker with the saute function and am enjoying making soups. However for the first time yesterday I decided to try the blend option as my soup was abit too chunky but it did not work. Do I have to select the mode and then hold the start button down for the time I want or just select the mode and press start?
Hi Vanessa, thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear of this. You need to select the mode and press start. Thanks
My Morphy Richards Soup maker just beeps when turned on. Sometimes the mode lights but there is still no display.
Hi Steve, thank you for reaching out to us and I'm sorry to hear of this. based on what you have described you might want to check that there is nothing obstructing the sensors. You can remove the lid and wipe it down and give it a go. Thanks
How many sensors are there? Everything looks clean and dry.
Thanks Steve, it is located on the bottom of the lid.
The soup maker which I love is not starting and shows 2 flashing lights
Hi Rajesh, thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear of this. Your soup maker is fitted with a safety thermostat which cuts the power and stops the product from working to prevent overheating if it is used continuously on 3 or more cycles. If this happens, remove any food from the jug, and allow the soup maker to cool for 30 minutes. It should then work correctly. You should also check the ingredients so it is not overfilled and make sure sensor is wiped clean. Thanks
How do you make a fruit smoothie in a 48821 Murphy Richards Soup Maker?
Hi Tracy thank you for reaching out to us. I have attached the recipe book for designed for the 501050 model: external link you can you can try the same by using the blend button on your model. Thanks
My daughter bought me a soup maker for Christmas. Used it once & it stopped working. Amazon replaced it for her. I've used the new one once & same problem, 2nd time doesn't work. I don't like to upset my daughter but for them to break down on the second use is not acceptable. I rely on things like this during to reynalds disease
Hi Tracey, I'm sorry to hear of this. Did the soup maker cut out or had no power? Sometimes it could stop if overheated or overfilled. If overheated it should function after been switched off after 30 minutes. If overfilled you can wipe the sensor cleans and ensure ingredients are not above max line to recommence. Thanks
Ok thankyou for replying. I've cleaned it out and will try it tomorrow again. I did leave it a while before trying again but will try it again from scratch. I'm sorry I complained, I should know at my age not to just moan!
My morphy Richards soup maker compact cuts out after one minute. I have carefully added the correct level of ingredients - over the minimum and below the maximum line so not sure why it keeps cutting out?
Hi Studio, thank you for reaching out to us. If the ingredients are filled correctly most likely the sensor needs to be wiped clean to ensure it operates with out cutting out. Thanks
Hi I love my morphy richards soup maker - however the last few times Iv used it - it seams to over heat and just stop on near completion of smith soup making ? So I have to wait for it to cool (quite a while ) And then put it onto blend - to be able to get the smooth soup Kind regards Emma
Hi Emma, thank you for reaching out to us. Based on what you have described you can check that the liquid level has not been exceeded and that the lid is wiped so the sensor is working appropriately. The main reasons why it would stop due to heating are below: >Your Soup Maker is fitted with a safety thermostat, which cuts the power and stops the product from working to prevent overheating if it is used continuously on 3 or more cycles. If this happens, remove any food from the jug, and allow the Soup Maker to cool for 30 minutes. It should now work correctly, and you can continue making your soup. >If the blend function is used continuously for more than 20 seconds a safety cut out will cut the power to prevent overheating. When this happens wait for 10 seconds before reusing the blend function. Thanks
I have followed the instructions for the recipe, lt switches it starts then stops . Why?
Hi Pauline, Thank you for reaching out to us and I'm sorry to hear of this. The quickest thing to check would be the sensor to ensure it has not been overfilled, maybe wiping it down and see if it continues. Thanks
Thankyou. I had overfilled bit hadn't realised.
My soup maker has only 4 dashes and the mode button isn’t working. At the moment it will only blend/clean is this faulty or am I doing something wrong
Hi Julie, thank you for reaching out to us and I'm sorry to hear of this. Based on what you have described you can check that the liquid level has not been exceeded and that the lid is wiped so the sensor is working appropriately. if this does not fix it let us know, Thanks
Hi my lid on my soup maker doesn’t look like it’s sealing properly the rubber seal is bent a bit can you buy a new seal for the lids
Hi Susan, thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not have the seal as a spare part for this model. Thanks
Ok
Hello, have had my sauté soup maker about two years and the sauté has stopped working, button stays red and only heats up when I put the lid on - everything else works fine. I love my soup maker.
Hi Anna, thank you for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear of this. Based on what you have described it may be related to the below taken from the manual: What if my Soup Maker stops working? - Your Soup Maker is fitted with a safety thermostat, which cuts the power and stops the product from working to prevent overheating if it is used continuously on 3 or more cycles. If this happens, remove any food from the jug, and allow the Soup Maker to cool for 30 minutes. It should now work correctly, and you can continue making your soup. - If the blend function is used continuously for more than 20 seconds a safety cut out will cut the power to prevent overheating. When this happens wait for 10 seconds before reusing the blend function. Thanks
Thank you, I have not used it continuously and the query relates to sauté function not blending.
Hi Anna, thank you. I will reach out to you directly.
I have steam coming out all around the lid , is this NORMAL.?
Hi Christine, Thank you for your question. As the contents inside are hot this may occur. I would also check that it is sealed correctly. Thanks
