Poor location for fuel tank lid – The position of the fuel tank opening is such that fuel will drain out at any angle of upward elevation. It is fine for use on anything with the machine being level or facing downwards. Once tilted up, fuel just comes out through the tank lid. I had to buy a different brand machine to use in upward tilted positions. Show details

few problems – Looked good upon purchase. Found all the extensions had to be emery clothed down or the connections were to tight to fit. Starts good, lots of power, It is a bit heavy with all the extensions on and tends to bounce while cutting. After about 10 hrs the allen screws in the cutting head worked loose causing the drive gears to strip. There seems to be… Read more

a lack of places to get replacement parts. All up i would not recommend this product . do your research and make sure parts are available before you buy. Save some money.

This is the worst product I have ever bought – I bought it from Shopubuy.com.au and this is a very poor quality machine. It took a lot of time to start first time and then the taking more time for every start, its not working without running it on choke so its tacking double the petrol, vibrating a lot, It was working alright with trimmer after horrible start but as soon as I attached big… Read more

cutter to cut heavy grass it started vibrating incredible and all parts were falling apart. Somehow I tried to put the parts back and now the Pull cord is not going back to start the product. Also its very heavy and started giving me back pain. I have spent around $400 to visit the Dr for my back pain issue due to this machine. Do not buy it even if its free.

Pretty Average Unit in general – Heavy and heard to use, drive cogs in the chainsaw have worn with minimal use and need to be replaced.. time to look into moving to a lithium ion based cordless electric unit. The bump head works ok, but changing parts is a massive pain the butt. Would not buy again if presented the chance, have to change the whole drive head for $45 and nobody has them in stock..  Show details

Next time, I'll read the reviews first – Now that I have purchased and used the trimmer and chainsaw, I regret not reading these reviews prior to my purchase. I agree with many points of previous reviews. The tool is very heavy and a pain to assemble. I was initially attracted by the price, and on receipt I was impressed with the apparent material quality and appearance. I found that… Read more

the poles were easier to assemble if a texta line was marked along the shaft in line with the pin hole. It started easy, although I am not happy putting my bracing hand on the top of the spark plug to kick it over. I managed the trimmer ok with one extension. 10 months later I tried the chainsaw attachment and couldn't get it to operate. For those interested in the findings of a retired toolmaker, I found that the top bevel gear (positioned under the plastic worm wheel), which appears to be made to a reasonably good quality, was spinning on its shaft. On closer inspection and after dissembling the complete head it was obvious that the mating surface of the connecting shaft had been knurled to accept the plain ID of the gear, prior to the gear being pressed on. This explained why the bevel gear was slightly crooked and why the fit was so poor that it didn't transfer sufficient torque to the drive shaft to spin the chain. This is extremely poor workmanship, and the gearbox was destined for failure. I'm going to try silver soldering the gear to the shaft. If I succeed, I'll pace another post. If it fails, the whole lot goes in the rubbish bin.

MTM 62cc 2in1 Pole – Hard to connect and disconnect. The internal spinning rod get loose easily thus causing multiple attempts to connect it correctly to work. Poor document. Fuel leaking. Tools difficult to handle. Heavy to handle. Should have read productreview instead of other reviews such as ebay. I think in general all pole tools can be very heavy. The… Read more

longer the heavier. As the result, these type of tools should warn customers that you need substantial physical strength and used to handling heavy tools to consider purchasing this type of tools. It is so heavy that I cannot use it effectively even with just one extra extension pole.

total waste of money – impossible to assemble as could not fit the main shaft in - assembly instructions omit this step altogether. going -straight to the rubbish.the manual is poorly written and more than poorly illustrated.other reviews suggest that even if i managed to assemble it the result would turn out to be a disaster.Poor quality control.  Show details

Waste of money – Purchased aprox 3-4 months ago.Opened up the box and the throttle cable was broken. Managed to fix it myself. So far, the fuel tank has a split on the join by the securing bolt (sounds like a common problem going by other reviews), its becone a cow to start now and about a month ago, the starting cord spring broke and when i asked about a replacement, they want me to pay for another one. WASTE OF MONEY!  Show details

Disappointing – Positive - motor has started and run OK for three uses so far. BUT after maybe 2 hours of use the bevel gears in the gearbox for the chain saw have stripped. The saw was not given any unreasonably hard work. The extension poles do not connect very positively and are hard to separate. I think they could fail any time. The whole pole sheath… Read more

tends to rotate and has to be wrestled with.

I was going to try to source new gears for the gear box, but after reading the other reviews I have decided to not throw good money after bad.

Complete and utter rubbish – I've managed to destroy two gearboxes on the chainsaw trimmer, the first was replaced at no charge, the second just now. I won't bother getting another, the machine is cheap and nasty. It really is a piece of junk although, the engine does start easily and run well. A complete waste of time since I can't use it.

Pole saw only - good while it lasts, but doesn't last long – I bought the same tool, but only with the extension poles and the chainsaw end. Priced at $179 it was worth a punt. Assembly was easy, although the instructions are not great even in the manual that needs to be found on the internet. The engine started at first try and ran well, restarted without trouble numerous times. At full length, the… Read more

tool is a beast to wield: it is bloody heavy, top heavy and sways a lot. Not a precision tool, and one must be very careful in using it. I am getting another handle for it to be placed at the top of the first extension rod. NB: This criticism would apply to all similar tools, not only this particular one.

I used it for perhaps a couple of hours and it worked well for chopping down tall branches. Hence, I have no way of telling how well it will last. However, even one use paid back much of the price in saved tool hire, after three uses I would be ahead.

In all, for occasional use it is probably OK, but definitely not a professional tool.

EDIT: After 1.5 years the spool of the starting cord fell apart. The retraction spring broke, so couldn't put it back together. Instead, I just used a cordless drill/driver with a socket that fits the exposed nut at the end of the crankshaft to start it.

EDIT2: After 2 years the motor would not start again. Starting spray was no help, so it is lack of spark. Changing the spark plug didn't help, though, and instead of the wild-goose chase of troubleshooting I just bought an electric one compatible with my 18V tools.

JUNK!!! – Don't buy this item for all the reasons already given, fuel tank cracked on arrival, shaft spins, brush cutter head flew apart, protective shield broke off and pull start disintegrated. Purchased from Edisons off ebay hardly used for first 12 months, now everything is falling off they want $95 payable up front just to have a look at it.

DO NOT BUY – Used once for 20 mins, put it down when I went to start it, the pull cord would not work. Dismantled and found a complete mess inside ( totally self destructed). Ordered a new one, and time it took to get to me I could have built a new machine myself (12 weeks approx. from china ??). Got it going, now fuel is leaking everywhere ( Fuel tank cracked… Read more

at fastening point ) Plastic guards are all melted. Haven't got to use it properly yet, what an absolute piece of expensive RUBBISH !! DO NOT BY ONE. Joe

Don't buy – The machine fell apart from the very start, the bump head broke twice, the line wouldn't spool out, the shaft rotates, it is difficult to use. The fuel lines perished as did the plastic fuel choke cover. For the price I paid I could have purchased a much better item locally. Extremely disappointed

Good concept, don't buy cheap – I have had this machine for approximately 6months now, purchaced from agrmachinery (eBay), and have been reasonably happy with its operation until it started falling apart. The ability to turn the brush cutter upside down without turning the engine upside down, makes the machine work a lot better when trying to get crisp edges on the lawn. I… Read more

think all my future bruch cutters will have detachable shafts to allow for this.

Now for the negatives... While cutting a block of tall grass down, the air filter and cover fell off (as I was in long grass there was no hope of finding it, but the mower sure found it later) because the screw simply became loose during operation (why doesn't this screw thread into a self locking nut or locktite used to lock the screw is a mystery to me) I also used the machine for approximately 1 hour, shut it down for a break, and then tried to restart it when the pull start disintegrated....

I am now struggling to find replacement parts for the machine. I will never buy a cheap brand machine over the Internet again, it is so much simpler to pay extra for a good Honda (or equivalent) from a local mower shop and then take it back under warranty if I have any problems.

In general the concept of this machine is great, but would be money well spent buying the same type of machine in a Honda/stihl equivalent. To say the durability of the MTM is poor is an understatement as it falls apart from simple operation. Do not buy this machine, you will regret it. Cheap (i can now see why though), the versatility of the detachable shaft (I'm considering buying a Honda or Stihl equivalent) High fuel consumption (1/2 a tank of fuel to do a normal house block), falls apart easily, difficult to find replacement parts
