Still no fix to Navdesk download – No point having a GPS if you can't update the maps! Navdesk needs to be downloaded to your computer and can't open as the Mac tells you it can't be trusted because it's malicious spyware. This has been a problem for a number of years, and still no Fix, Show details

Not what’s it’s cracked up to be – Once the unit works it’s ok. Although It freezes on start up Battery is terrible. Doesn’t recognise my address even though I’ve lived there 40 years. Shows speed of service roads rather than the road I’m on eg - on freeway at 100 kph but showing speed limit as 50 - picking up street beside the freeway. Show details

Waste of money – Brought a Navman cruise 650mmt in September 2022. Difficult to set up but got it done eventually. From day one there were problems with the battery even when it was charged overnight. the next day while in use and plugged into power it would report the battery was flat and to plug it into power. I recharged it overnight and kept it turned off for… Read more

two days but plugged into power and the battery still went flat. Sent it back to Navman a month after purchase for repair and Navman offered a free repair service which was probably their way of saying it was still under warranty. The Item was returned a couple of weeks later and they said that had charged the device using the in-car power supply for 3 hours and then operated the device for 15 mins., on battery power, Therefore, no fault has been found with the device. On the service sheet supplied it had the following comments : 1. Battery keeps going flat even when connected to supplied power adaptor and vehicle is running. 2. Marked as received on 2022/10/17 @ 11:06 and fixed on 2022/10/18 @ 08:41 ( which is 9 hours and 35 mins, even though they said, charged for 3 hours, plus operated for 15mins , plus 16 hours on a navigation test which equals 19 hours and 15 mins). 3. Marked as repaired and tested even though they said there was no fault found. 4. Although there was no fault found, they said they replaced the power adaptor due to possible intermittent issue. When it was returned the battery has been holding its charge but I usually keep the device turned off when not in use. Since its return I have found some of the menu choices I had before are now no longer available. It reports speed and red light cameras as coming up on roads that I am not on. POIs are displayed on the screen when navigating which cannot be removed and extra icons appear on the screen that I have no idea what they are about. I should have gone for the Garmin. Might take it back to JB HiFi for a refund or a credit for the purchase of a Garmin GPS. Finally gave up on this piece of junk. no response from Navman on problems. Battery goes flat after two days, it has problems finding some locations, POIs icons litter the screen but cannot remove them and it warns me of speed camera for streets I am not on or near. Was going to get a Navman dash cam but I think I will steer clear of crappy Navman products. Tried to give the GPS to each of my adults sons but they both refused when I said it was a Navman. Later on today I am going to dismantle this device before rubbish binning it.

This device is plain junk – This device would be equal to the worst piece of junk that I have ever purchased or otherwise acquired. It has just received the hammer treatment, and is now where it belongs - in the trash. I wish I had never wasted the $200 on it. Show details

Would never buy another – Product was easy to install. Would have a glitch on startup occasional and lock up. Would then need to turn the vehicle off and start again. Frustrating when you are in a city with quite a few stops and starts. In less than 12 months it finally gave up and died completely. Heap of junk. Show details

CRUISE650MMT NAVMAN VIRUS – I purchase this device in September 2019. It worked well until I did my first update and the device locked. I updated the device from their recommended "DavDesk2". I spent 2 weeks communicating with Navman who suggested I return the device to them for repair, which I did. After 2 weeks I received my device back in the mail with no explanation.… Read more

When I rang them they said it had a virus. I explained that the only place that a virus could have entered the device is from them. Their reply was couldn't have been from us. The following year September 2020, the same thing. The system locked, I returned, and again it had a virus. Now it's October 2021, I have done another update and it is locked/blocked/broken. This time when I communicated with Navman they said it will be $110 to repair. Be wary of Navman's downloads, THEY MAY CONTAIN A VIRUS

Purchased today, returning tomorrow – I've never used a dedicated nav system before, but the cruise650mmt is what I imagine navigators were like in 1998. The screen movement is chunky and slow, and despite being a reasonable screen size fonts and map are too small and difficult to read. Perhaps worst of all, its directions are completely unintelligent. I punched in an address I know… Read more

well to test and selected fastest route. It chose a longer/slower route so I took the faster route, then it spent the whole drive telling me to turn around and drive all the way back to its original route...EVEN WHEN I WAS PARKED OUTSIDE MY DESTINATION!

Really quite irritated about the time wasted setting up, and now having to return it to the store and go find another brand.

Very good but connector broke when under 12 months old – We have had our Navman Cruise650MMT 6" GPS for just under 12 months. It is relatively easy to use and screen is very clear and we have been satisfied with its performance. However, today when we were unplugging the power cord, the metal tip stayed in the GPS. We have been unable to connect the parts which means that we are now unable to connect… Read more ·  1

Operational issues – I've used the GPS for a couple of days. I am impressed with the level of features offered such as Live Traffic without needing to tether to a smart phone; good points of interest; shortcut buttons for fuel stations, cafes, rest stops etc; safety alerts; spoken streets and landmark directions (eg turn left at the BP petrol station into Smith St);… Read more

and a large screen. BUT, at the same time there are issues. A bit slow to find satellites; sometimes a bit slow to update speed zones; slowness to refresh position on the map. I guess you can live with these once you know. But a significant issue I found is route calculation. Using it around my area, I'm confused as to why it wants to take me a long way on suburban streets instead of a direct way on suburban streets. And in one case, the long way was not as easy as the direct way. I don't know how route calculations are done, but my 6 year old In-Car GPS did a better job. Of course it doesn't have anywhere near the features of the new Navman, but it's nice to be taken the best way from A to B. I don't know how this will work on holiday in an unfamiliar place. And lastly, I read an earlier review about the bracket failing because the magnets on the bracket were too strong. Well, I assembled the bracket and let the magnet clip the bracket onto the GPS. I pulled it off again. It came off easy. What's the prob with the magnet?? But then I saw that the magnet plate did not come off the GPS and in fact the mount had separated without effort from the magnet plate. Four very tiny screws were no match for the most powerful pair of magnets I've ever felt based on size! Looking inside the broken bracket, the plastic studs that the screws go into had snapped leaving the main part of the bracket with 4 screws and broken studs; and the other part of the bracket firmly - and I mean firmly - magnetically attached to the GPS unit. I honestly had to get a screw driver to prise the magnets off the GPS. Couldn't get a grip with my fingers. Once off, I fiddled with the bracket and then the magnets shot out and clamped themselves together a few feet from where I was sitting. The power of these two small magnetic bars is impressive. No point getting a new bracket. It will be the same. I'm thinking of Super gluing the magnet plate back onto the mount and then leaving the mount on the GPS. It is much easier to remove the GPS by releasing the suction foot. So - while I think this Navman could, and should, be better designed, I think I'll be able to adapt to the flaws so that I can have the extra features it provides over what I have now. UPDATE 31/7/21 - I have discovered that the route calculation issues are not the fault of Navman. I found that Garmin has exactly the same issues. I have discovered that the HERE mapping company which appears to be based in USA and supplies maps to most GPS manufacturers, has included a setting for roads called "local traffic only" which stops GPS using this road. In my area, HERE has designated nearby roads in this way based solely on the fact there is a Local Traffic Only sign posted on the road. So while a local council might put this sign on a road to encourage use of another road, HERE has decided that this means No Traffic unless you live in the street. And this is direct information I got from HERE. So if you find yourself being taken on a circuitous route, it's probably not the fault of the GPS maker.

Final comment Have fun setting it up I succeeded after several hours Shortcomings Takes longer than expected to locate Satellites. Works OK however have 2 Navman MY450LMT running "Navpro Software" in other work vehicles and that outperforms this basic "Navman" program. Bottom line is this Cruise has larger screen, battery life off power is short. Not as good as older MY450LMT. Save your money.

Can't even register the newly purchased unit – What a waste of my time. Purchased the new Unit, attempted to register it only to be told the Serial Number is not recognized. So the data base of their own products in the Navman system isn't even up to date. What a farce. All attempts to register are met with cyclic web pages that keep returning to totally useless options. DANGEROUS MAPS - Not Fit for Purpose – A lofty claim indeed, but if you were to rely on these maps in regional areas of Western Australia you would be taking an enormous risk for your safety and well-being. I'd recommend using Google Maps, Maps ME, Apple Maps or a better GPS system like Garmin. To qualify my claim, the maps have been updated using Navdesk 7.50. The screenshot shows… Read more

what you can expect to see on your laptop - basically nothing! No, not even the towns of Exmouth or Coral Bay (where I put the flag). And yes, I've installed it onto 3 different machines and it looks the same, illegible. If you zoom out whilst driving you'll get the same - nothing, no roads, features, etc.

Here is a list of popular (very) registered campgrounds along the coast between Exmouth and Perth. They are all accessed by gazetted unsealed roads suitable for 2WD vehicles and caravans, none of these are 4WD only. None of these destinations or routes are avilable on this Navman. All are available on the other maps mentioned. # Bruboodjoo Point / 9 Mile Camp # Gnarloo Station # Gnarloo Station 3 Mile Camp # Red Bluff # Bush Bay Camping Area # New Beach # Gladstone Bay Campground # Lucky Bay Campground # The list is endless..... The maps are even more dangerous with inland destinations/routes.

Then there's the Speed Limits, again these could be very dangerous or costly if you use them. For example, in the town of Exmouth there are many Speed Signs. Without exception, every Speed Limit advice on this Navman was exactly 10 KPH out. Yes, that means not a single Speed Limit warning was correct in June 2020.

If you drive on a highway such as West Coast Highway around Cottesloe and City Beach where the Speed Limit might be say 70 KPH, you can expect the warnings to fluctuate between 40, 50, 60 & 70 KPH. It seems that the GPS picks up random school zones and suburban streets nearby. Imagine the consequences of slamming on your brakes from 70 or 80 down to 40 KPH on a highway or from 100 KPH on a freeway for no apparent reason. The same has happened on Mitchell Freeway, Leach Highway and Tonkin Highway.

Stopping for fuel half way to your destination - well you might get your map route back or maybe not. You might need to go through "I Accept" screen again or maybe not. You might need to go back to "Map" button again or maybe not. Your screen may come on again or maybe not. You might be asked if you want to keep using or automatically switch off or maybe not. And the supplied power cable does not charge the battery so the battery always shows in the red zone. Battery life seems to be around 6 to 10 seconds if not plugged in.

The list of shortcomings of this Navman GPS is endless, and I don't even think it's faulty. Basically it's just rubbish. Providing decent reliable maps would be a start. Navman may produce other products that function as expected but this product has put me off Navman forever. Back to the trusty old Garmin dinosaur that never let me down and always gets me places safely.

This is a terrible GPS and it's because of the GPS antenna – I purchased one of these just over 12 months ago. It kept losing GPS connections so I returned it. What a mistake-a to make, mate! – Every time you turn this on it is going to give you a drive carefully message, As if that wasn't enough, they expect you to sign-up to an extremely lengthy "agreement". There is no way to by-pass these. In constricted areas where you are making frequent sharp turns, it is pitifully slow in reacting to turns and will frequently lead you to believe… Read more

you are going the wrong way. To overcome this defect you have to go extremely slowly or even actually stop while it catches up. (You can imagine the effect this has on the guy behind you!) There appears to be no battery because it will only run for about one minute before telling you to plug in. (These "plug me in" messages are also displayed at other bewildering times.) This makes nonsense of the feature which enables you to record where you left your car - because - when you try to use the Navman to locate your car - it immediately just dies on you. Their "Help Desk" suggested I buy a back-up power supply so I could use that "feature". That's what I call really helpful! It does not even have the facility to "Mark" where you are and save that to your place-marks. I really do wish I could get a refund on this unfit for purpose brick. I've used Navman navigating gear for yacht racing and cruising and in a cruising launch - that was fine. It is a pity that they can't produce car nav's to the same standard!
