Never been a good device – The maps are reliable. It is easy to install. The strength of the signal is intermittent. It performs to get you somewhere when it is going. Ever since I have had this model it has a tantrum and freezes. I have taken it back and they say go to Navman. I have tried to get help but it still is intermittent. Now it is frozen and no matter what I do it will not unfreeze. Buy at your own risk. Show details

Poor GPS Signal – I find the maps fine, I have updated regularly, but always found it very slow to pick up GPS (sometimes up to 10 minutes). Now the GPS keeps turning off and despite resetting it a number of times, the only way to get it work is to factory reset. Then as soon as you turn it off, it goes back to not working when you turn it back on. Had it less… Read more

Absolute Rubbish GPS – I purchased this after my Tomtom from 2011 dropped its support and was swayed by the lifetime maps. I've found out that the lifetime maps is deceptive, (as mentioned in other reviews), however my main issue is with the algorithm the route selection uses. It constantly (despite what setting the route selection is on) insists that the best way is to… Read more

cut across highways, take multiple stops and will happily add on additional kms despite there being faster, shorter and easier routes. I can't trust this unit to take me anywhere safely, and with the exception of finding street numbers, its rubbish.

I'm going to buy another Tomtom and wouldn't ever purchase a Navman again.

Terrible product – I've had the Navman 250 LM for a few years now. It's never held a battery charge for more than a few minutes if not on power. The usb cable won't stay in place on the unit (not from the get go), the unit wants to turn off after about 30 minutes even when powered which is absolutely no good when driving long distances, the maps can be dodgy (I've… Read more

used them in the USA and NZ besides Aus. It is extremely slow. The online instructions are not great either. Other than these very important and dangerous issue, it's a basic unit with a good display and sound and works ok if you can get past the other issues (which you won't without copious amounts of frustration! I'm not surprised it's a discontinued product and if you thinking about buying this thing second hand. Please don't waste your money!

It's good for the price I paid – Yes it is a basic unit, but does the job and we haven't had any major issues, still works two years later. Maps accurate in the regions covered, signal strength has room for improvement, but again, it is a basic unit.. Updates I think are unnecessarily complicated, but installation was easy

Not recommended – I am a light user of the GPS but after a few months of using the Navman EZY255 I am starting to realise how bad it is. My old Tom Tom was much better so now I will buy a new Tom Tom. The main problem I have with the Navman is that it changes it's mind frequently about the route and does things like ask me to turn right in 10 metres just 30… Read more

seconds after it has told me to go straight for 5 kilometres. Then when I miss the turn it takes ages to recalculate the route meaning that I have to pull over or risk missing more valid instructions. It drives me crazy and I don't even think I could resell it on ebay with a straight face.

Crap Navman EZY255LMT – A piece of crap, It's not even worth $20. In fact you would be disappointed if someone gave it to you, you'd think it was an insult. It continually locks up after using for about an hour, with garbage on the screen and won't reset. Throw it away. I'm now reluctant to buy another Navman

Don't do it – Horrible, Slow to operate, Has double address that it shows as two different locations - customer care don't care "we will let the map supplier know" Plug is so large that it get bumped out of the charger often. Helps get you lost rather than find an address. Buy another brand/better product than this paper weight.

Free Map updates is deceptive – It is a basic GPS. I bought it thinking I would be given Lifetime maps. The process to install new maps in complicated. If you don't take this GPS out of your car and hook it up to your Computer every 6 months, you give up your Lifetime map privileges FOREVER.

It's really quite good – I am happy with my recent purchase and so far can find no faults. It's fairly basic but very easy to use and the Traffic Message Channel (TMC) feature which provides alerts about major traffic problems along the route is awesome. It is good value for the price I paid at JB Hi-Fi.

Dont be swayed by negative review EZYLMT255 – Bought it from JBHiFi for $80 in November 2015 and working well since then. It came with 3 year free replacement warranty after some tough negotiation, because it was on specials already. Total waste of money – I have had my EZY255LMT for over a year and a half and it is terrible. deforms the black plastic suction cup, the advise I got from navman customers services was to take it off the front windscreen when it's sunny!!! Seriously. I gave them a one star for humor. Finding address is very slow, click wait next letter click wait next letter. This unit has live traffic information it this function only looks good listed on the out side of the box, when you get traffic warning it's too confusing to do anything with it wile your driving, the traffic information comes from the local radio station in the form of RDS signal very unreliable and slow. This unit has touch screen and if you try to navigate on the map to find a street it could take you 20 mins and you will end up at the outer end of the map at least twice as it can become unresponsive and spin out of control. Other than that it's fine. If I need to go somewhere then I just grab my phone and use googles navigation works great every time super easy address are quick and it's free, it just knocks around the passenger side foot well now total waste of money.

Piece of Crap – Doesn't work very well at all. Surprise surprise it's out of its warranty period by 1 month. Now stuck on a loop between the safety agreement and turning off. Biggest piece of crap out there. Always have problems with Navman (we have 5 for our company vehicles). Tried a Garman for personal vehicle and it's awesome.

The Worst Piece Of Rubbish I Have Ever Purchased – This product only lasted 3 months. Lifetime maps is a complete waste of time. The complete data was lost, first time I connected to the computer, I was looking for an update and all the maps disappeared. Also when it was operational following purchase the GPS satellite connection was lost in the Toll tunnels. Threw in bin!!!

One basic feature missing – Of all the GPS I have used ,this is the most disappointing, the cheap Chinese IG08 models are even better. The one feature missing is the ability to state a destination as a intersection of two roads. To make it worse you have to specify the surburb then the street. My New NavMan EZY255LMT GPS – First of all this GPS does work and you should not get too lost. I used to own a Navman s90i which is a much older gps and worked a lot better. The "upgrade" came with free maps fore the life of the unit. First catch. Life is not defined, 6 months, 6 years who knows. It cost $199 to get a new map for the s90i which was almost the cost of a new… Read more

EZY255LMT plus it's battery would know longer charge.

Pros:

It is relatively cheap.

Easy to set up with the Navdesk software which is supplied. This works well with windows, don't know about Macs. I would ask the store if you have a mac computer.

Map updates are easy to install with the Navdek software. You do need an internet connection though.

The EZY255LMT talks to you on getting from A to B, railway lines, speed cameras, speed zone changes, exceeding the speed limit, maybe more, I have not experimented.

Cons:

Can take some time, up to 20 sec or more to orientate itself. This means although it is giving you the correct instructions you appear to be going the wrong way on the screen.

This gps does not know where I live, it is out by four houses and no amount of fiddling will convince it otherwise. I have had a lot of emails with NAVMAN about this. They have been very helpful but have ended up blaming their map supplier. I am inclined to agree with them, but it should not happen. The old S90i knew where I lived as does my smartphone. So what other address are wrong?

My smartphone updates it's maps for free automatically when logged on to my router. Why does the EZY255LMT need to be connected to computer via USB and then use the navdesk software?

Connecting to the navdesk software can be problematic at times, most times it works sometimes it doesn't.

Does this gps work for me? Yes 99% of the time.

Would I buy it again? No, I expect it to work 100% of the time considering my very old S90i did, and my smart phone does.

Shocking Unit – This is a terrible unit, turns itself off generally at a crucial time, battery will not hold a charge, have to reset volumes after each charge and the problems continue. Thought trying a new car charger - still no fix. Navm,an should recall all units sold and fix or replace them with something that works.

total rubbish! – It worked for about 2 months. By that time I had figured out that it can't be switched off, it would just restart. So every time it's switched off it discharges its batteries and next time I start it I have to go through all setup. Now it wouldn't stay in recording mode, switches to playback mode all the time. The sound it makes, somewhat of 70-s kids toys... horrible, too. I guess that's enough for never looking at Navman products again.

*Not suitable for use in vehicles – *Not suitable for use in vehicles - should be written on the box! If you don't supply power to this unit 24/7 it will not work properly. My experience with this GPS unit can be summed up as; lots of swearing and two trips back to the retailer - who very kindly replaced it after the first month (due to suspicions of a faulty battery), and then… Read more

gave me credit 4 months later towards a replacement. I would say 'poor battery life' like everyone else has, but I believe the issue is something else that they just haven't seen yet. After a bit of experimenting I found that the unit was turning itself on after the 'power has been turned off - unit will shut down in 10, 9, 8, 7....' message.

Hence the reason it had a flat battery every time I went to use it - which is 4-5 times a day. I work on the road and stop for 1-2 hours at a time. The unit turns itself ON while the car is OFF and wastes the battery completely. Never able to hold charge, or preferences, it was like using the unit for the first time (safety message, change preferences, volume down, display arrival time etc) every time I turned it on! very annoying!

Do not buy this unit. It is inherently faulty. Navman need to recall / fix this unit. It comes in black Turns itself on after about 30 minutes of sleep - killing the battery in 1 hour.

EZY250LM GPS - Beware Mac users – Just got the EZY250LM home from JB Hi-Fi and went to install by following their 'get started' info in box. Plug USB in, inserted disc. becasue I've been computer literate since 1991) that an online install is only option for Mac. Even then you have to override your MAC OS gatekeeper, navigating through way too much information, just to get the app on your mac. Beware! Only recently they made Navman products MAC compatible. Looks like they should spend less on fancy TVC style videos and more on user experience. Not happy Jan. Used the Navman on a hire car in NZ and liked interface. See above.
