Below par devise – Lifetime Maps, do not exist although this was a hot selling point. My my escape spent more time being repaired than I used it for . Eventually it was replaced but has the same lack of power issues, Support are happy for me to now pay $110.00 for them to look at it, Is this something that should have happened when it was under warranty at NO cost to me! GARMIN or TOMTOM here I come. Show details
Very good GPS device – I bought this GPS to use for my motor home, and I have been using it for 2 years now. It is a 6" screen and is easy to see. It is easy to use. Update the map is also easy via connect it to a PC and run NavDesk software 7.5. The software is Ok, and it works on all Windows platforms (ie. Windows 8, 10). It has a lot of features such as driver… Read more
fatigue alerts, merging lane alerts, speed warnings and even fuel search shortcuts. The most I like is its free live traffic updates and free lifetime monthly map updates for the most current driving information, such as red light and speed cameras updates. It is also built in large vehicle assist when you have to drive a large motorhome, tow a caravan. It has so much features that you may never used (eg. offline track). Calculate route is very fast (10 times faster) compares to my GPS in Mercedes GLC 250d. The map detail is accurate but is not perfect (same as Tomtom and Garmin that I have found). Don't rely on the battery as it last for less than 15 minutes (well, you don't use the battery anyway as it is plug in the cigarette lighter all the time when I drive). In summary, I am happy with it for what it can do for a good price (compare it to Tomtom and Garmin).
Utterly frustrating – I really do not know why I keep doing this to myself. Why I am buying Navman products. It must be a misplaced sense of loyalty for NZ/Aus products, or misplaced optimism. I am on my third Navman MyEscape, now in version IV, and really it sucks. Well, if you only use the Navman in the vehicle, it is okay-ish. That is if you can tolerate the… Read more
exceptionally poor battery performance, it will get you from A to B most of the time. (Though it can get itself terribly lost on forest roads for example, which really defeats the purpose of buying it for your 4WD). Stick to the main roads, and you SHOULD be okay.It begs the question, why 4WD maps if the maps are not good enough?)
But the software. Navdesk is woeful. It is terrible. Do NOT try and connect the Navman to or Windows PC to update or backup your device. You will spend hours and achieve nothing. It is really bad. It crashes all the time. It cannot cope with a computer with more than 1 screen. It fails to keep the connection with either its server or the device. You will be in tears at the end of it. Navdesk is an amateurish attempt at software development. Really, it is not software, but betaware. And is has been that for years. This is the last Navman. Really. I have better things to do with my life that sitting in fromnt of a computer to try and make other people's crappy software work. No more.
Navman escape iv – Ive got a Garmin Nuvi and Ozzie maps on my Kenwood car radio- this Navman is the only product I had to actualy read the user manual for. Very hard to work with. Plotting routes and marking a spot with the name you want is difficult. And dont ecpect the offroad tracks to be on the map. I found that only some mayor unsealed roads are mapped. For… Read more
off road map detail around Perth 1/100 for the offroad track detail. Very poor mapping of areas. My phone has better maps. The rail crossing warning is annoying - when I traveled to smaller towns you cross one every few minutes. Now for the big NO No and confusion:
the button marked 4WD tracks??? Any person with some brains would think it wil bring up a map of offroad tracks??? WRONG. It brings up a telephone list.
Easy to upgrade the maps and the screen is a good quality screen. Love the big buttons and menu. A lot of information is available for city slickers. 90/100 The on/off button is accessible and the bracket is sturdy. Cables are long enough and can reach any point on the wind screen.

My escape...OK just – very slow, freezes when connected to the computer and the voice command dose not work at all, its not even close. Lot of money for such a product in this day and age. thinking about taking it back for a refund but I need it and the maps are working. Screen is dull in direct sun light but ok only just. My biggest problem is I have been back to the… Read more

terrible product for big $$ – maps inaccurate, princes hyway around Wollongong, Sussex st Sydney. Screen visibility is the worst of any electronic device I have ever used. Device does not fit into holder properly and vibrates/rattles. Bought to use with heavy vehicle and camera input but too frustrating as intersection zoom function looses positioning and cant see screen. … Read more

If only I could see the screen – I had one for 1 day then replaced it for another but I'm sure that this one is going back as well. The screen almost impossible to see even in overcast conditions. Going to try an anti glare screen protector on the new one. I drove across Adelaide and back and it shut down 2 times even thou the plug still had the light showing that there was… Read more
power.
Going down the Expressway the unit was showing my speed was 95kph in a 100kph zone BUT it was also saying I was speeding . . .
A country zoned road was showing speed limit as 60 kph for about 3 km and it has always been 100kph.
I had 1 instruction to turn right but the nearest street was about 200 meters away.
Safety Cameras . . . missed a few and they have been there for years ...
The volume is very quiet, have to close the windows and turn the radio off.
I do like some of the directions when you can hear them ... eg.. . after Kentucky Fried Chicken turn right onto Dyson road.
Maps are pretty good from what I've seen.. . no GPS is perfect
Updating the unit is very easy.
Installation is easy despite the size.

Buy something else – I just bought one of these to replace a pain in the behind My450LMT. I should have known better as it seems from reviews that it has been years since Navman produced a good car GPS. My primary criteria was it had to support AV in for my reverse camera and it is one of the few left that does. Well, got it from the shop put it in the car straight… Read more
away and was immediately disappointed in the screen brightness and yes I checked the settings. It's lucky if it is half as bright as the MY450LMT so was quite hard to see on the dash. When I backed into my drive in the middle of the day the only thing I could make out on the camera where the guide lines in the camera. My driveway and garage was impossible to see where the My450LMT had no trouble in the same conditions. It was a mix of dim screen and sun on the screen probably washing it out completely. So I owned it for 2 hours and then promptly returned it for a refund as either faulty or "Not fit for purpose". Not sure which but either way, it was the very first one that large well known chain store had sold and it went back. The sales rep took it out in the sun to verify what I was saying and he also saw the image which looked ok indoors virtually disappear in sunlight. I also was totally unable to get it to connect with the Navdesk software on my 2 computers so there goes any chance of map upgrades as well. Not a good start at all. Shame on you Navman, thats 2 rubbish GPS's in a row now. Time to try another brand.
Are the Maps accurate and is the signal strength good ?, who cares if you can't see it in sunlight or update the maps.
On reading the instructions I also noted something disturbing, it said to unplug it from the car before starting the engine to avoid damaging voltage spikes. Thats one hell of a good way for them to void every warranty claim any one ever makes.
