Good – If I was to try an alternate brand of 'combo' (like the Sonys or Panasonics), I would consider something like this. Nice silver finish, easy operation, remote offers most functions, easy to understand on-screen menus. Simple setup. Not sure how I would go obtaining a good used one of these, but it has to be better than LG. It has the standard RCA, component, and S-video outputs, and a couple of inputs. I don't think it supports DivX playback, and if it does, it probably does not support later versions after 6. The VCR does not offer EP recording (super long play like in Panasonic decks); it only has SP/LP but I don't feel that this is a con, just a design limitation, however the DVD recorder may offer EP, so that's not an issue. Attractive, easy setup, elaborate for a medium priced unit. It is well up there with the other leading brands. Analogue tuner for the VCR, Hi-Fi stereo. Nothing so far, if you have extended warranty, everything is covered (including the DVD drive which can fail and be expensive to replace), I have seen a couple of these in a secondhand shop, no major faults or damage.
