Hi I have been addicted to nicorette quicknist since 2011 - so over 10 years. I've tried to wean myself off, go cold turkey, tried vaping. Nothing works. I need help getting off it but don't know what to do. I went to my doctors and they didn't care as they said I don't smoke.

I wish I could help. I too have been addicted to N.R.T products since 2007. I first attempted to stop smoking that year and started on patches and lozenges as there was a program ran by a nearby hospital to aid people to quit smoking. After many unsuccessful attempts to give up smoking I kept trying and finding the only thing that stopped me was the Nicotine gum. My ex partner and I first started on the Nicabate classic flavoured gum and used to go through packet after packet of it together for about 8 years. Then we were left devastated when the brand discontinued their classic flavour as we couldn’t stand the flavoured ones like mint and fruit and stuff as it didn’t make us feel like we were getting our nicotine fixes like with the original flavour. So we were forced to switch to the Nicorette brand that had the classic flavour but we never thought it was ever as good as the original Nicabate one. I think it was literally 15 years later and we were both still buying it. Last I heard he finally managed to come off it but I haven’t and every time I tried I was a high risk of buying smokes and making myself feel physically sick for days on end after smoking them. So just recently I started on the quick mist in attempt to save my jaw from anymore trauma after chewing the gum for so many years. And even that wasn’t easy sometimes I still crave the gum. Sorry I couldn’t be more help to you I too am a nicotine addict and it’s definitely not ideal but in my situation it’s been the only way off the cigarettes.

How do you quit using quickmist

Chris B
Chris B

Hi Annie. I quit 6 months ago using Quickmist and actually found it really easy. For the first three months, I did a double spray every half hour (or eventually, when I thought about it or felt the need). Then over two weeks, I reduced it to one spray whenever I felt the need. By this stage I was barely needing it anyway. Then for two weeks I did a spray in the morning and one at night but that was more for my mentality than actual need. Then I just stopped taking it.

I was smoking 30 cigarettes a day and had been smoking for 32 years. Quickmist was the best decision I ever made. Seriously. I’m very weak with a highly addictive personality. If I can quit, anyone can.

A couple of side notes: the first couple of days, regardless of how you quit, are always the most difficult. I started while on holidays and, if I felt like I was struggling, I would take a nap. And drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins from the cigarettes. I also downloaded the QuitNow app. Just looking at the stats, particularly how much money I was saving, was a massive incentive.

Spray it on the front of your tongue or under it. Don’t spray near the back of your throat. If you do, you may be like me and get hiccups - sometimes hilarious but also very annoying!!

Finally, please don’t listen to the people on here who say that you get addicted to it. That’s more about them than the product. I was worried that would happen to me but it didn’t. Quickmist saved me in many ways but I wanted to quit. If you actually want to quit, regardless of how you do it, that is half the battle.

It will be 6 months in 2 days since I quit. Here are my stats:

5421 cigarettes avoided $7950 saved 22 days won back

I can breathe again. Swelling in my legs have gone down thanks to improved circulation. No pains in my chest as I was a walking advertisement for a heart attack. And best of all, the money I am saving is ridiculous!

You can do it!!!

Thanks for your reply. I too haven’t had a cigarette for 6 months using patches and spray. Weaned off the patches 3 months ago but still seem to be heavily reliant on the spray. Perhaps that’s psychological after reading all the “addiction” posts but am truly finding it hard to stop using it every half to one hour and just want to be totally nicotine free.

Hi Annie and Chris, This is great news that the smokes are gone. That is, and always should be the determining factor. At 6 months, you have the battle on track. I was a 46 year smoker, fortunately weaned myself down to 10 - 15 per day until I stopped at the beginning of the year. I still do the quick mist everyday, but I'm amazed to say I have not smoked for 9 months now. Don't allow other peoples reviews and set backs and complaints take you off the rails. Use the fight to extend the time between sprays as another challenge. It'll work. After all, you have done one of the hardest things in your life already by not smoking.!!! Everything else will come in time. I used to smoke so much on the golf course, now I go the whole 4 or 5 hours without even a spray while my buddies go through a pack in that time. Its a win for me and you as well!! Extend the time between sprays and you'll be on your way.

Hard to completely avoid swallowing some when you spray, but if you have issues spray it on your finger and rub it into the inside of your cheek.

I would be really really interested to know peoples thoughts on it regarding tooth decay and ageing.

Why does the Nicolette quick mist spray gives me the hiccups

Stephen
Stephen

Think too much nicotine at one time makes you hiccup

Wayne Thompson

Hi there, yeah I got that as well usually if I had too much to soon. Think if you reduce the intake that will help. I have now stopped using the product, 3 weeks now and glad to have it in the rear view mirror. Good luck with the process and be careful with this stuff, it is a cleverly designed nicotine delivery device and super addictive. It should be by prescription only in my opinion, it works but it is very easy to get addicted to.

Has anyone actually quit this damn spray? I have been cutting down to 2-3 sprays a day and today I ran out and refuse to buy the stuff anymore. I swear quitting smoking was a LOT easier than this, I cant concentrate, my mind is CONSTANTLY looping back to this damn spray every few minutes, I'm sick of it.

My teeth are ruined because of this spray too.

Has anyone actually quit using it? How long before this crippling addiction feeling passes?

Has anyone experienced hair loss with the Nicorette spray?

Lisa
Lisa

Yes! I’ve been hopelessly addicted to Nicorette Quickmist for several years. If I try to stop it becomes a serious mental health problem. I get sooo angry it scares me, and I cry all the time and am so tired. After a week or two of absolutely hating my life and everyone in it, I go buy another pack because I’m a nicer person on it. They need rehab centres to help people get off this evil stuff! Anyway, in the past month my very long curly hair has been falling out in handfuls. I went to the doctor about it last week and she did blood tests to check my thyroid but results were all fine. Now I’m reading that lots of people have hair loss on NRT as it restricts blood vessels. I’m going to lock myself in a padded room and try and quit again as there’s no way I’m ingesting any more of this poison!

I am addicted to Nicorette mist spray since quitting in 2013, i can not go any were with out it, going away in i have to carry spares...originally it lasted 4 odd days but lately i can not get past 3 so i wonder if the company making it for J+J are putting the full amount in the spay as its sealed away for viewing, the expensive kit it not child proof as i found 2.. 3 year old working it out, drop the price as i note the biggest chemist shop selling it from say $49 to $56 (3 pack) and less often have now due to the Corona virus and people sitting at home using more of it have now put it up to $69.. I feel the demand for it will make twice the profit and i thought it was illegal to profiter or take advantage of the public during a pandemic.. Others now home 24/7 and bored must feel the same, cut the profit and help, why has no other manufacturer tried to market the spray and what other spray etc What flavour is close to freshmint to help cut down on the nicorette, my Dentist can not understand why my teeth are needing fillings from more regular decay... Shocked by contracting lung cancer now (6 months) i need something for my anxiety not pills but find the cost of mist at $69 is just 2 much to afford. They advertise vitamins at 50% off but never the profit maker, its advertised on TV to stop smoking but has no discount of price..Ebay are advertising 2x2 packs del for $70 and that's 4 sprays not 3 ?????? of course Woolies, Coles and small chemists are selling at the same price all year round and ridiculous as they possible sell 2-10 packs a month..

Yes they made the amount in each unit much less about a year ago. One pack used to last me a whole week, now it’s about 5 days. I guess they realized that if it was more expensive than a pack of cigs us addicts would just go buy cigarettes! Chemist Warehouse has triple packs for $50 and I’ve been ordering 3 of them at a time and re-order when I’m down to my last 2 as all hell breaks lose if I run out. It’s the worst addiction ever! I feel like a total crack addict if I try to stop, I become horrible! But lately my hair has started falling out and I’m reading lots of other stories about others in the same boat so I’m going to try again even though I get very suicidal when I’m without the Quickmist. This product is a mental health liability! My advice for anyone considering it? DON’T! It costs a fortune, it totally enslaves you, and it makes your hair fall out!

Has anyone else found it ageing? My skin looks horrible. Im guessing it does because it constricts blood vessels.

How do I get off quick mist, stopped smoking seven months ago, but still need quick mist? Had fast heart rate and sweats only sometimes. Trying to cut down with it now. So expensive.

Lisa

Lock yourself in a padded room for at least a month... truly I think that’s the only way! Withdrawal is 1000 times worse than it ever was quitting cigarettes! I’ve tried repeatedly to get off Quickmist and it’s utter torture! I’m just about to try again as it has caused my hair to start falling out. Good luck quitting and if you come up with a way to get through it can you let me know too please?

Is quick mist ment to burn your mouth?

Tina O.

Considering everyone has had the same complaint and it is not being addressed by the company, then yes :( I try and minimise the burn by spraying on the inside of the cheek. Avoid inhaling through the mouth at the same time for the next 1 minute.

How many doses are in a regular bottle of quickmist spray?

Ginseng
Ginseng

I'm asthmatic and just used the mist, it burnt my mouth and throat and my throat felt like it was closing up causing shortness of breath and increased heart rate. It's now been 40 minutes and it is easing. I can't use gum or tabs as makes me sick and causes increased heart rate. Patches burn skin. Tried tablets from doctors was very I'll. So I'm knackered really. Can't vape as causes coughing. Any other suggestions. Lol

Fresh mint? Ok, its more like acid burn. I bought this and the first spray I tried omfg, my mouth was burning worse than I have ever felt! I'm assuming this is how it works to quit smoking because quite frankly, the only thing I put in my mouth after was ice cold wash towels.
