NVIDIA Shield K1

Very good tablet – Tablet is a bit laggy, could be a software issue and some bloatwares. 16GB storage is not much but it has an expandable storage up to 128GB (tried and tested). The unit also comes with a pen which is very useful in some apps or tasks. Battery life for me is very good.

Good spec tablet for the price – Bought two of these for my young kids as something I might use from time to time also. Compared to the equivalent iPad and other similar specced Android tablets, the Shield tablets seem to fly under the radar a bit because they are marketed in that "gamer" market but firmly sit in the affordable price point. Display is nice, audio is great, expandable memory is handy and it has every output you need, making it a potential media centre or player if you so desired. Of course it plays games without any complaints but it's perfect for browsing the web or watching Netflix.

The only gripes I have are the battery life is quite poor, the choices for aftermarket covers or cases are a little bit limited and it can suffer from what seems like memory constraints when you have multiple apps open. It simply bogs down and becomes slow to respond to any interactions.

This tablet makes me sad – Where do i start, I am an avid android user, I do have an apple ipad mini 4 i purchased for the access to cheap digital content from the sales on itunes cards, however I have had to remain with the ipad mini 4 as my main tablet as this tablet has been disappointing. There is a possibility i was sent 2 complete duds but my experience with the nvidia shield k1 has not been pleasurable. The speed of the device is terrible, opening apps, switching between apps all seems like a drag on the system, comparable to a cheap $60 tablet you can buy.

Best tablet ever – I have had an Ipad and used other Android tablets but the Nvidia K1 is fantastic. Great for games, movies and for surfing the internet. The build quality is solid and sound awesome. I bought this on Amazon US and got it shipped to Australia along with the controller.
