Padlock itself is great but let down by poor batterys – We have Autistic children that like to get into cupboards and fridge and make very large messes at 3 in the morning. I installed these on my fridge, freezer, pantry and laundry cupboard. The fingerprint mechanism worked REALLY well and for about 6 months we were really succesful in keeping the kids out. Then one of them would not unlock. It was making the noise but did not unlock. I had to cut this with an angle grinder. The battery on them would last less than a week and now one of them will not charge at all.

For the price you pay I do not think these are a good purchase until they sort out the battery issues.

Back to the drawing board....

Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $49.

Puts lives in danger – I purchased five of these fingerprint-activated padlocks to avoid the hassle of finding keys and also to provide a greater level of security, given that they are supposed to be operable only by those whose fingerprints have been stored in the app. I have experienced several concerning issues with these padlocks: (a) The advertising states that the batteries charge simply by using a micro USB cord and power bank or adaptor. "Don’t worry, you won't need to do this often." I had to charge the batteries after three weeks of use and one needed to be charged again one week later. (I've yet to check the others.) Because the batteries die so quickly, I found myself locked inside my yard that has a 6-ft fence. I had to find a power bank and connect the padlock to unlock it and so open the gate. So, the message here is: don't leave home without a power bank, because one might not be able to enter one's own yard/home on return. Alternatively, in case of fire, it would be impossible to leave the premises by way of the Orion padlocked door. (So how are these padlocks keeping us safe???)

(b) While users store the fingerprints of two fingers onto the app, any finger opens the padlock, even fingers not stored.

(c) ANYONE CAN OPEN THE PADLOCK. ANYONE!! I had a friend whose fingerprints HAD NOT been stored in the app open the padlocks. So much for security!

My experience of this product is such that it should be seriously reviewed by the manufacturer and withdrawn from sale, as it clearly gives the user a false sense of security. Meanwhile I am out of pocket and will have to replace all five with old-fashioned key-operated padlocks. Very, very disappointing!
