Does a reasonable job, cheap and very reliable – I bought this mower for $100 at Bunnings around 2013 as I had a small yard and didn't want to fiddle around with maintaining a petrol mower. I've since moved back to a 660 m2 block and I'm still using the same mower. It's been immersed in water twice (local flooding), and after drying out it still goes. Being some 10 years old now, I can hear… Read more

the bearing start to go in the electric motor, but for the price and the abuse it's had I can hardly complain about that.

Now I'm no gardener and only use this mower to "knock the grass over" every 2 weeks in summer and keep it tidy, so if you're after a bowling green it is probably not for you. Power wise, it's managed to handle grass up to a foot tall well enough. I've never had it overheat either, but I don't mow wet heavy grass either. I resharpen the blades with a file every so often, getting around 2 years from a set. You can buy replacement blades from Bunnings for about $30.

Having a cord on it can be rather annoying, but that's expected for this type of mower and in my mind it's a good compromise to get benefits of not having to bother with a petrol engine or batteries. It is very light, so you can operate it with one hand and manage the cord with the other. However, being so light the weight of a full catcher and the cord will cause it to tip backwards. The catcher itself doesn't hold on very tightly, so can fall off at times. I don't bother using the catcher as it fills up pretty quickly, so this isn't an issue for me.

The height adjustment is spring-loaded and can only be adjusted from the bottom - i.e. you need to turn off the mower and turn it over to change it. It's not very strong, so a big bump can change the height down to the lowest setting. I usual use that setting anyway, so that's not an issue for me either.

In summary, I've given this mower a pretty hard life and it has done an acceptable job while being unbelievably reliable. It has exceeded all my expectations and I'd definitely purchase again. I'm sad that I can't find a replacement of the same model! I'm hoping that the newer models are half as good as this one!

Great performance – I only gave 4 stars because of the catcher. This is the 2nd ozito mower I've purchased and the catcher has been terrible. I just don't bother with it. The cut is fantastic. Despite my long grass (photo attached) it breezed through it. I have a big backyard and it didn't disappoint. I like you can adjust it and yea, the cord is annoying but… Read more

for those that complain it, you know what you were getting. Even if it only lasts a year or so, for $79 when desperately needing a mower, its performance was significantly higher than expected.

Happy with my mower – One of my son's gave me this mower for my birthday last month. It's great for my small back lawn. It takes longer to to set it up than it does to mow the lawn. There was a problem putting if I together at first as the holes in the two handles had not been drilled. Another son came with his drill, drilled the holes through and completed putting… Read more

it together for me. The screws are not countersunk now making the locking levers hard to lock into place with my arthritic hands. He also put the catcher together as I was unable to because it is flimsy and slippery. Another handle underneath on the catcher would be great making it easier to tip upside down to empty. Overall impressed with the mower.

Impressed – Would have given it a 5 but putting together the grass catcher was a mission with it being so flimsy. But for only $100 it did a very good job. Show details

Ozito 1000w electric mower & line trimmer combo GREAT – Excellent For $100 at Bunnings I totally under estimated how good this is . So easy to put together , very light & compact. Both front & back lawn (sir walter buffalo) done in no time . It cut through higher grass no problem & now I want to get out and maintain the lawn as it's so easy. Emptied catcher x3 on first cut & now only once . Show details

After 1.5 years it ended in the bin – I cannot believe some top star reviews on this mower. The only thing I can think of is people who have it have very small yards and mow once in a blue moon. We had a medium yard with a 4 bdr house in QLD north, 20km from the CBD. Grass in spring, summer, autumn grew like insane. We had to cut it every 2 weeks, I suppose this is standard for QLD.… Read more

This thing really struggled and two batteries could not do a job. We bought an additional 4, as we had a whipper snipper, same brand. Super slow and still struggled with grass after 4 batteries and an hr of yard workout my hubby was ready to let it go. And we are fit people that can pull some serious weight but after almost 2 years we gave up on it and took my dads petrol mower.

Poor quality plastic handles, broke in several places and became all rusty. Funny though, whipper snipper is pretty awesome like they are two different brands! Always kept it undercover and away from the rain. But by the time I took it to a rubbish tip after having it for less than 2 years it seemed like it went through a war.

It really can't do a job unless you have the time to do the job every week.

Also poor quality materials used to build this thing. Not worth the money.

So far so good – My last model of electric ozito mower fell apart so I replaced it with this. They are so cheap, $99! They feel cheap too, really lightweight almost flimsy. But this does make it easy and light to use, so as long as it lasts a reasonable timeframe it’s not a bad thing. I find the catcher much more annoying to put back on than the old model, and it… Read more

needs emptying very frequently so it’s mildly annoying, I also feel like it doesn’t do as good a job of actually catching!

Starts straight away every time, no smell and minimal noise, does a decent job cutting our small lawn, really easy to use. As long as it lasts longer than the last one I’m very happy.

I find the grass catcher impossible to assemble, Can I take it somewhere to assemble it for me ? – The grass catcher impossible for me, at 86 years old, to assemble, I am quite happy to pay someone to help me. Can someone or Bunnings suggest somewhere to go otherwise I will have to return the mower. Surely there must be a service somewhere who can help with poorly designed equipment. They could have supplier an assembled grass catcher & put… Read more

Ozito ecomow poor second to earlier Ozito – Very disappointed with the quality, so much plastic, I suspect it will not last the three year guarantee. Previous ozito lasted years. Yes, it is lighter but at what cost. Grass catcher previously was a firm moulded platic, this model has to pieces of 'rubbish' plastic which fit together poorly.  Show details

I don't believe it – I never thought I would rate an electric mower - let alone one costing $100 - so highly. I have 80-90 sq.m of lawn to mow in total. I have used 18" petrol mowers for the past 30 years until recently. The Ozito cutting width is narrow - very narrow - which is surprising because the motor never struggles with the lawn even when it has some length… Read more

on it.

There is a knack to getting used to dragging the lead around with you - I find it quicker to have someone standing to the side and feed/retract the lead as necessary.

The catcher needs assembly and went together quickly and simply. It's big enough for the body of this mower - but small compared to the traditional mower. As the mower is quick and simple to get cutting, smell and exhaust free, easy to use and put away, it encourages me to mow more often.

Sure, the mower is a threat to my masculinity, and it sounds like I'm Hoovering the lawn...

But it's great; cheap and cheery

Edit - December 2022 the mower finally overheated and died after not being able to keep up with rapid lawn growth through a massive tropical wet season. It was replaced by the big brother of the same brand. Nearly 5 years of use at around $20/yr and a bit of power beats roughly $50/yr or more purchase price - plus maintenance and fuel - on petrol mower ownership.

So far – It's GREAT I have a small yard no bigger than a master bedroom. First time use "Start up" sounds like an "EXOTIC CAR" Grass about 15cm-20high, cut like breeze easy to carry, easy to clean. 1000wats, very good, most impressed. Catcher WAS a pain to put on, PATIENTS is a virtue. Electric cord is the only annoyance (over shoulder), but it dose work very well.  Show details

surprise – I bought the Ozito 1000w electric corded mower this week from Bunnings. Having moved to a retirement village the lawns are done for you , however not to my satisfaction , so I got this mower to do my small lawn area wich has grown far to long . Ok to not be to long winded the mower performed much better than I had hoped for , light , enough power… Read more

Good product for small lawns – Light weight and economical mower, I bought the electrice mower and grass trimmer kit, it cost me $147 from Bunnings. It is small machin with small power. It take lot of time to mow the garden. It has three different settings , with metal blade. It is very compact and lightweight therefore quite easy to manuever and move around. The only downside with electric mower is the extension cable. It is good according to price.i happy with product.  Show details

Good for the Price – Bought this mower from Bunnings a month ago and it is so k for its price which was $99. It is only annoying that it is corded so I had to move the cord from time to time and I also had to buy long power cords to mow my lawn. The grass catcher is a bit small so you have to empty it quite a lot  Show details

Hmmm yeah... It's cheap – Only recommend for those with a very small yard. Battery may get about 40 mins to an hour's use however don't expect it to be heavy duty. Not what I was looking for – If you looking for mower for small lawns then too this would not suffice your need firstly you would take ages to assemble the basket and secondly u don’t have lever to adjust the length .. to adjust length you need to sit down and adjust tyres length from beneath which is a pain !  Show details

Reasonably priced but the catcher is terrible – Have used it only a few times, trying to use it without the catcher, as it is impossible to assemble, made with really flimsy plastic. But in comparison to a petrol mower really light, I am still learning to carry the cord around though, as it can be inconvenient carrying it on the shoulder. But, I guess that is what you get for the lower price.  Show details

Light weight mower, perfect for small yard – Light weight and economical mower, I bought the mower and grass trimmer kit, they worked out cheaper than buying the 2 equipments separately. Inexpensive for small lawns – I have a 20 square metre lawn at the back of my Villa which I need to mow weekly. I use this model because the lawn is fairly even and does not require greater power. I use a 20 metre cord over my shoulder and mow the nearest area first so as the cord lies in an already mowed area. The Mower is easy to start, very light to use and under $100. Highly suitable for small lawns.  Show details

Small and Light – Overall i am quiet happy with the lawn mower as it works fine with a small garden. The only thing it can be quiet annoying is the cord keep tramping with the lawn mower. if you one person holding the cord up for you and the other mowing - it will safe half the time to mow the lawn. It is cheap and affordable and it does the job.  Show details

Bargain Mower – I purchased this mower as an ultra cheap option to keep our yards under control. With the price being so low and a 3 year warranty there was nothing to lose. It only took a few minutes to put the mower together and it was ready to roll. The mower has three height settings, with each wheel needing to be individually adjusted. All I can say is the… Read more

mower just keeps going and going. Unlike some petrol models that will cut out when the job is too difficult, this mower will just slow down until it can get back to its normal speed. Push button start is effortless, no more pulling on a cord and hoping for the best.

This mower does exactly what it should do for the money it costs. The only negatives I have personally is the mower is too small for the area I use it in, I should have opted for the next model up. I would suggest this mower for small yards otherwise you will spend too much time going backwards and forwards. The catcher can fill quite quickly as well due to its size, and the hole that passes the cut grass into the catcher can sometimes block. Only small negatives that are caused by using a mower that is too small for the area its used in.

I would suggest this mower to anyone that doesn't want to spend a fortune, has a small yard and doesn't want to muck around with fuel.

Ozito 1000W EcoMow Electric ELM-1000 – Bought this lawn mower after reading some reviews which suggested it would be good for a small lawn which I have living in a smaller property. Nice little mower – I have it for few years and it works fantastically well. Petrol mowers are too heavy for me. This one is just right. Cuts well, even if grass it high, as it happens sometimes. No complicated manipulations with petrol/oil are required. Collects well as well. Sometimes gets stacked, if grass is too high, but its OK.  Show details

It's ok – It's pretty average. We have had problems with the mower stopping a few times. It does do the job, though and cuts the grass short. I wouldn't purchase this brand again. I would pay the extra money for a better brand. It does the job for now but I feel like it won't last long.  Show details

Great for the price – I bought this mower at Aldi for $80. It was a bargain. It is small and light, easy to use, I don't use the catcher though, but I am happy with the cutting. It's probably not a man's mower, but fine for a 70 year old woman. Great for the price.  Show details

Grass catcher is spoiler-Ozito try to assemble one and then push it to market – Went to Bunnings and got this mower as it looked good and wanted to try electric mower as area to cover was small. This is no doubt the worst assembler ever...I couldn't even try the product as it cannot be used. Most of them have shared the same experience, hence it's not a one off product issue. If you see these reviews before buying, stop buying this product.  Show details

Bad product. Grass catcher cannot be assembled. Poor quality material – Waste of time trying to install the grass catcher - it's made of really flimsy plastic. No way for the tabs to slot in (what the manual says). Even the handles are hard to put together because cords have been cut a few cm to short (to save a few cents?). Not recommended.  Show details

Grass Catcher Is A Joke – I have always been happy with Ozito products from Bunnings and it was easy to assemble the mower BUT the grass catcher is ridiculous. seems to be 2 problems: 1. One half is made of the wrong material for the job and 2. The same half is not moulded perfectly to fit the firmer half. In a nutshell, the mower seems well designed and suitable for light mowing but the catcher is a disgrace. I am going to use it without the grass catcher BUT the option to use it would have been nice and what I expect from Ozito.

Worst lawn mover ever – I went to bunnings to buy mover for small lawn and salesman recommended me this one. Great value for money - it's cheap but works well – After persisting for years with my old petrol mower, I got sick of maintaining the motor and getting it to start. Not Very Reliable – We bought one 12 months ago as we only have a small nature strip outside our house to mow. Used it 4 times and the motor has burnt out. Definitely will not be replacing it with the same brand. When it worked it was great. Nice and light and cut the grass well.

Excellent value does exactly what it is advertised to do – Took a while to put together , but for the price an excellent buy, Light and easy to handle. Only problem is with the wheels, they will not stay tight have to tighten every second time I use the mower. Have been using on a fairly large area of grass and it takes a bit longer because of the cutting area, that is not a problem

Good electric mower - Value for money – We have a duplex property with a fairly small back yard that takes around 30 minutes to mow. Until recently I had been borrowing a friend's motorised mower but then I got this Ecomow ELM-1000 by Ozito. I would say about this mower is that the catcher is tricky to assemble out of the box and seems a little flimsy. In strong or careless hands I think the catcher could easily be broken; however it does the job well and with a little care it should last for ages.

The only other issue is that it doesn't come with an extension lead - so you need to purchase one separately. I have a 25m cord that does the job well. Get one that is brightly coloured so you can see it in the grass!

If you want a cheap electric mower for small to medium size lawns that is incredibly simple to use, then this one is for you. Cheap, reliable, energy efficient, very light to handle. Catcher is flimsy and tricky to assemble. No extension cord provided.
