Recommendation: take off the motor cover once per year and clean out any grass bits from there – I bought the Ozito ELM-1400 in 2016 - the motor seized up in 2018, and Bunnings gave me a warranty replacement at the time - the Ozito ELM 1536. Now, close to 6 years later, the motor seized up again - obviously no warranty now. I opened the motor cover - and there is lot's of dry grass bits in there - and I am asking myself: are those dry… Read more
grass bits responsible for the motor seizing? No doubt the motor gets hot, mix that with dry grass it can only burn, surely, that can't be good for the motor and its bearings.
Such a surprise – Having pushed petrol mowers most my life the dread of doing it became a chore. Having used this lightweight option it's enjoyable. Two problems, you have to manage where your electric cable is, and you have to wait for grass to be dry. Show details · 1
Great little mower – This little thing cuts great we have a Kikuyu lawn and it handles that no.problems so I'm not sure about any bad reviews this is in its second year and going strong . Show details
Surprisingly really great mower for small lawns – Owned it for 3 years cutting a lawn around 65m2. Cuts grass very well. Simple to use and convenient. Not required any maintenance. Really is perfect for a small lawn. Easy to clean. Even though many of the parts are plastic it is still pretty much like new after 3 years of use. However if your lawn is nice and flat I would probably leant towards the ozito cordless cylinder mower. Show details
Great little mower! – Bought this Ozito electric corded mower from Bunnings after using a heavy petrol mower for years, it is amazing, lightweight no messing with petrol and oil, love it, makes mowing my lawn a breeze, after mowing with the petrol mower I was exhausted, this little mower is so easy and it has a 3 year warranty. Good value – This is a light weight mower. Easy to maneuver. Not as powerful as a petrol one but good enough. You need to be careful with the power cord. Good price. Very reliable. No petrol. Cheap to run. No smell. Took me a few goes to get the catcher on. Not sure if it loses power when it gets hot. Fairly quiet. Show details
Dust churner, getting warranty was unnecessarily unpleasant experience – "An ideal mower for the home owner who has a medium to large lawn area." says the blurb on Bunnings website. But after having to claim warranty (no choice of refund offered) I was told 3 times that this model was only to be used for small areas like in townhouses not homes. So there is either false advertising or misinformation. I was also asked… Read more
to pay an extra $10 because I paid that much less last year (2019), they said I was buying, I said I was getting a replacement not buying. My grass area is small to medium. I have to say the grass is short and dry most times of the year (watering by rain only since 2007), the ELM 1536 is very good to excellent at churning up dust in this situation. I did not test on lush grass.
Good but.... it needs a power cord – No review mentions it needs a power cord attached to the mower to run. It DOES NOT run on a rechargeable battery. That is this mower’s biggest flaw. The power cord gets in the way when mowing. Can also do with a bigger lawn catcher. I find I have to empty it every 5-10 minutes. Otherwise a great lawn mower for the price, $150. Lite, easy to maintainer, good for a small lawn. Show details
Perfect for small backyard – Bought it few days back only from bunnings local store, My backyard is not huge but it does the job. So far happy with the product. It comes with 3 year warranty, so can't complain. Show details
Jsut purchased and used once - good! – Due to lockdown the mrs didn't want a gardener coming over, we have about 250m2 lawn which is in four separate areas so I found I needed 20m of electric cable. Mower was super easy to assemble out of the box, and just went off cutting. No mess, the grass catcher did it's job and needed emptying four times - about half of our green bin full. I… Read more
have back problems, and pushing it can be a little tough, but the grass was getting long and it cut without issues on a dry lawn. Didn't want to spend a fortune on a battery mower or mess with petrol and fumes, so this was the perfect choice and should work well. We have a very slopey outdoor (coner block) nature strip, the deck was easy to raise with one handle... I guess for those who aren't very self aware they will need to be careful not to run over the cable - but if you have a strategy this doesn't need to be an issue.
It wasn't quiet, but not loud either - says 90db on the side and I can believe it, didn't need headphones and could talk to the mrs while mowing without difficulty.
I'll see how it goes after using a while, but the first cut went really well.
As I had some 18v Makita tools, I did consider their battery mower for $400 (I already have two batteries) but this for $155 at bunnings was absolutely fine, and looks to be no worse having seen both in the flesh if you don't mind hauling a cable around..
Ended up getting a Makita trimmer to do the edges of the lawn and will report on that seperately.
Perfect for town house and medium size lawn where required electrical cable length is less than 25 meters – Easy to assemble and use. Enough power-1500 w to cut the grass (15-20 cm height) in the medium sized backyard(200m sq). More power would be unnecessary. One should not be cutting more than 40% of the length of the grass at a time so as not to damage the grass roots. It is sturdy and robust and comes with 3 years of warranty. Therefore peace of… Read more
mind. Assembling basket looks little complex due to flexibility of the material but not very difficult. However flexibility also makes it durable. And this is just one time job. Overall happy. Serves my need.
Its okay, but great for the price! – I purchased this mower after reading many positive reviews although its power and features arent as flash hot as some other brands on the market i think given the price it serves more than its purpose and is very ideal for a situation like myself who has a small backyard to cut here and there. Overall Im very happy with this product and would highly recommend it to other individuals. Show details
Recently upgraded from older Ozito Electric Lawn Mower – Personally i like corded lawn mowers, i don't understand why we don't have a bigger and better range. Overall it works fine and i give my lawn mower a hard time. The catcher is a bit small, balance is a bit off when it gets full. Catcher is hard to get on and off, needed some rivets to stop it from falling apart. Handle angle is a little low for… Read more
my liking. From the previous version its improved and gone backwards at the same time. The motor does tend to struggle a bit on thicker grass. Hope to get a couple more years from it, but not sure if i would buy another one. At $150 it still good value and with a 3 year warranty really cant go wrong.

Great if it lasted – Excellent lawn mower and more than powerful enough for our small lawn of around 100m2. What really annoys me is they don't last! This is the second one now and after about 9 months to a year it just seizes. Electric motors are supposed to be super reliable and maintenance free. Nothing unusual about our lawn. It doesn't do any heavy duty work. … Read more
Not over heated at all. The blade on the one I'm about to bin is unworn. At least I now know why I couldn't find anywhere that sold spare blades. Ha ha you will never need them!
Perfect for Small Backyards – I have a small backyard and this mower is perfect for this application. It is easy to store, maintain and It was only $149!. I am very happy with this product and have not had a single issue with it yet. Show details
Perfect for the price – I used to have a push mower and my lawn was long overdue partially because the push mower is almost useless if the grass grow to certain height. I thought this E mower will have a tough time for the first mowing at least as the grass is not only high but also wet. But it went through without any difficulties. Should have got it earlier. Great value – Good little lawn mower. It is a little bit low on power, not as powerful as the others and has a small catcher. However, you can't fault it for the price. Show details
Got the job done – This is an awesome machine due to its light weight it’s very easy to manoeuvre and operate over the lawn, my backyard is very uneven so this was perfect to get the job done, the catcher is 38litres so the length and thickness of your grass will determine how often you will need to empty it. Because it’s electric there’s no need to worry about charging batteries or filling with petrol or oil. Show details
Great and affordable for small lawns – Very light easy to mow lawns. Catcher is a perfect size for my lawn. Only need to empty catcher once when mowings done. Easy to clean and look after. Shape and colour are very appealing. Show details
Ozito corded electric mower – This mower is a perfect replacement for a petrol mower when you become sick and tired of trying to start it. This one starts first go!! I watched a YouTube video on it by a guy in Qld, and he raved about it with his thick grass and great demo. I am so so happy with it. I recently cut down a veritable forrest around the side of the house and it did… Read more
not miss a beat. I originally thought that this was only good for small to medium sized lawns, but I'm not so sure anymore. It has never stalled on anything that I have cut. It is light, agile, compact and powerful, probs coz of the corded motor but a little cord management and it's not painful at all. I highly recommend this for small to medium, but would not be suprised if it worked a treat on any lawn!
Best Budget mower under $150 – Mower easy to use and Assemble, packaged simplistic and only 5 minutes tops assembly without the use of any tools, surprisingly a very quite mower, little flap that indicates when the catcher requires emptying is a great visualization tool as it takes away the guessing, this model is recommended over the 1000W model which is $99. Makes me feel like a genius – Ive bought two of these mowers for two different properties, the first one in march 2018 ,and the second one in december 2018 (to replace an 'orrible Victa push mower.Theyre fab little devices that work really well and give an excellent result with minimum fuss.Well designed and very economical....I really like the surprising amount of power and the strong vacuuming action which really cleans up all the leaves and clippings thoroughly. For the price this is a perfect mower – 2018 Electric Ozito is so light and cuts shorter than my last mower. I have nursed my Briggs and Stratton for 3 years too long. The Ozito 1500W doesn't stall either. You will have to mow your lawn differently though.... making sure to work away from the cord. The guy at Bunnings was so knowledgeable. He said you need a heavy duty lead and you… Read more
can't join 2 domestic cords together..... Reason being the amount of power the mower is pulling is more than a domestic cord. He also said, not exactly sure why that your lawn has to be no more than 20 meters from the power point. This mower is way quieter than the petrol one. The catcher has an indicator that tells you when to empty the catcher. That was really handy...... I'm converted...etectric is tops..... I have only mowed the lawn twice though. Will update if I change my mind.
Now 2019 Its a year on and I am over it......... I just couldn't get used to watching out for the cord all the time and yes eventually ran over the power cord....$75 dollar later for a new cord I made the choice to give up on the cord variety. Tomorrow I'm off to buy the battery model from Aldi so stay posted
Great value mower – My first electric mower which replaced my push pull mower. I paid $149 for the 1500W model even though I have a tiny lawn. The 1000W was $99. The main difference apart from larger motor is on the 1500W model the catcher is bigger and the height can be adjusted by a lever, not by adjusting the wheels, like on the 1000W model. I put the mower… Read more
together easily, although the catcher took a bit longer than I'd have liked. Once assembled it works like a dream. My lawn has never looked better and it takes me about 5 minutes to mow! Only negative is I wanted to buy a spare blade for when this one got blunt, but Bunnings don't stock them. They can be bought online or Bunnings store may be able to order one in.
Great for small home – Bought one locally from bunnings as hire was more expensive. it is light and easy to use. Looks cheap plastic, but who cares, it does what it is supposed to do. Our backyard is small and it really works well for us. Have used about 7-8 times in the past months. It also comes with warranty too. Show details
And we still have petrol mowers because?? – I’ve always been a petrol mower person and our 4-stroke mower died (mower repair dude’s diagnosis) and I needed a new mower quickly. I didn’t fancy spending $300+ on another one – the recently deceased one was more than that and had only lasted 5 years. And what is it about mower shops that they always make you feel stupid? Or maybe that’s just… Read more
me. I was surprised to see that plug in mowers were around half the price of petrol ones. Never having used one I think I had the same concerns most people have about going from petrol to electric – is it really up to the task? Will it choke on the first patch of couch it encounters? After all 1500W is what the hairdryer runs on.
Walking out of the shop with the box didn’t instill confidence – I carried it out, without straining – it only weighed 10kg. How could something that light and feeble mow a lawn? Anyway I bought it because $150 was what I was anticipating spending on servicing the old one. It also has a 3-year warranty. In fact if it lasted the three years I’d be well ahead because I’d also spend $25+ a year on petrol. So I figured it was a reasonable risk.
There was a little bit of assembly that took me about half an hour. Intelligent people could probably do it in half that.
Starting it requires pushing a button and holding the lever on the handle, and required no effort whatsoever. Turning it off is a matter of letting the lever go which means it will turn itself off whenever you let go of the handle.
Turning it on, my first bit of happy was the noise. It’s not quiet by any absolute measure, but it’s about the same as a washing machine on spin. You can hear people next to you talking. But because turning it off and on is so easy, you can do it all the time. That will take a bit of getting used to. Having only ever used metal chassis petrol mowers, the lightness of this mower also took some getting used to. No petrol, no oil, no smoke and not much noise. Is my lawn laughing at it?
As for the performance – it did at least as good a job as the old petrol one. It devoured thick grass without struggling in a way the petrol one never could. I didn’t use the catcher but it did a good enough job of mulching the grass (it isn’t a mulching model as such) that I didn’t need to collect it.
The one weird bit is getting used to the power lead and making sure it is out of the way. That will take some time and I may have to change my mowing choreography. But considering the lightness, ease of use, (relative) quietness and the great first time results, I’m very happy with it. Frankly, I’m not sure why people are still buying petrol ones.
Good mower for the price – It’s an ok mower for the price, original bought the one below this but it was useless so returned it for the next model up (this one) cuts well and has 5 settings that adjust all 4 wheels at the same time, grass box is ample size and has an indicator to let you know when it’s full, the only issue is even though it’s 1500kw it can still struggle on… Read more
thick grass and needs to go over with a few settings to get best results but like I say good for the price
Ozito electric mower – Very impressed with results on longer grass. Would recommend for small yards. Light and very easy to use. Easy to manouver around the yard. Easy assemble. Easy to empty the catcher. Show details
It's ok – Actually the cutting results is satisfied. Because you can choose three levels of cutting height. In my opinion, It's very easy to maneuver the mower. I think it's easy to operate that only two buttons you can choose and three cutting level. I think it's a brand that I can afford and easy to use. Show details
What does this do ? – Terrible machines. Purchased 2 machines and both did not work as expected. It starts well and the blades rotate, but cuts no grass ? I purchased this twice and it just works will the warranty period. I barely use these machines and it stopped working after 3-4 times of usage. Will not buy this brand again. Show details
This 1500W mower is good... except for TWO flaws! – The Good... once you learn to roll the extension up so it doesn't take half an hour to untangle the next time and you learn how to mow without mowing over the extension... it's great! Just checkout the Youtube videos for how to mow with a corded mower. It's also light and easy to maneuver, cuts well and you can start and stop it as many times as… Read more
you like (to pull a weed or move something out of the way). The Bad... why the height adjustment should be the reverse to any other mower, I don't know! If you hit a low branch or something sticking out the adjustment is pushed in and will drop to its lowest level and suddenly you're mowing the dirt! Something to constantly watch out for OR, do what I did, and place a nut & bolt in the slot to lock it in place. The second MAJOR flaw is that the unit sometimes does not switch off when releasing the safety handle. I found I have to Constantly spray oil around the red button to keep it lubricated. Oh, and the handle material, after 6 months, tore. Finally, be careful where you put your finger when releasing the safety handle... I pinched my finger and drew blood one time. The Ugly... replaces my smelly, oily, noisy, smokey and hard to start (Oh my back) 2 stroke mower which I don't miss one bit. I have now thrown out the petrol mower and Will never go back to using one!
p.s. maintenance is easy... takes 5 minutes to sharpen the blade using a dremel and blade sharpening tool. Don't even have to remove the blade, just turn over the mower (No petrol spills out 'cos there isn't any) and run the sharpening tool along the blade... easy peasy. AND it cuts grass 20cm high no problem... just mow 50% uncut and 50% cut grass areas on each run. A friend bought a cheap battery powered mower and said that it was gutless... he had to keep his petrol mower just in case.
You get what you pay for - normally. However this cheapy $149 mower works a treat – I purchased a mower for a rental property I have and which has around 150 or so square metres of grass. Now aside from the fact that one has to drag a lengthy power cord behind you, the unit does a great job. Yes, if the grass is long (which it was on the first cut), you need to empty the catcher with monotonous regularity. This said, the… Read more
mower's cutting performance is excellent.
Overall it's a great unit - not necessarily suited for use with houses having large back yards - but for those with smaller grassed areas its fantastic.
