Great unit - performs well above its price – We bought this for a large lawn we needed to look after. We figured getting a mower contractor would cost about $100 (the first mow would probably cost more due to the overgrown state - see photo), so at under $400 the new mower only had to survive 4 mows to pay for itself (we already have a Ozito PXC line trimmer). The assistant Bunnings said… Read more · 1
"Noooo.... don't get that because you'll be back tomorrow for a warranty claim so save yourself a trip and get a Ryobi to start with" (she reckoned she saw a stream of people every weekend coming back enacting their 5 year warranty for exchange or refund - which she admitted was quite a good cover) Anyway, we didn't take her advice and bought it.
It takes 2 x 2 set of 4AH batteries to do a large yard, so make sure to pick up a spare set. It does stop inexplicably sometimes, and looking at the other reviews may be from overheating. It comes with a mulching plug, and we have never used the catcher (it can clog up with wet grass, but the unit is easy to flip over and clear out).
The light weight makes it feel like a toy but makes it easy to lift and put in the back of the car (make sure you remove the batteries to make it even lighter)
We have used it several times a week at different properties for the past 4 weeks and have been very happy with it.
Happy with it so far – Purchased from Bunnings along with an edger and two batteries. Cuts well, light weight and very easy to use. Catcher is small but not an issue. Batteries charged in 30 minutes is excellent. Do not miss fuel cans, the noises and the weight. This mower does it well. Show details
Mower slows and stops intermittently especially with slight loading – I have had the mower for just over a year. We have only a small berm to cut and the mower has probably only been used a dozen times. I am an electrical engineer and I checked out the handle microswitch, contacts between the handle and mower and battery condition which are all good. The symptoms I have suddenly been getting seems to be related to… Read more
the overload sensor inside the motor playing up. This sensor stops the mower if the load is too great. Unfortunately, it is now slowing and cutting out even with the slightest load, if any, which is very annoying. It is tempting to pull the motor apart to see if I can fix it but will refrain and take it back to Bunnings as it is still under warranty (3 years).
Low power, design issue, terrible quality – I leave my comments after seven months bought this lawn mower. On day two I returned it to Bunnings but they refused to refund it! I tried to work with this but every time I found new issue and below are the main ones: - Low in power, if you need to cut over 10 cm grass your machine will be stuck and every two meters you have to return and go over… Read more
the half-cut grasses - The grass catcher container position doesn't right to me and should stop every often to move the grasses inside manually (by hand) otherwise weeds accumulate around the blade and stop it- The container is too small - The blade comes off every often and you have to fasten the bolt - You can't use it on buffalo grass whatsoever - Not easy to maneuverer though it's not that big - Battery is fairly good

Great mower with problems – The handle contacts need to be carefully adjusted, kept clean and coated with graphite grease to aid conductivity and stop corrosion. I have added a thick big diameter washer under the handle attachment screw to better hold electrical contacts together. Secondly the lever switch on the handle is badly designed. I replaced mine with a simple rocker… Read more
switch. The mower has never gone better, constant speed and power Lastly the mower deck is too fragile, I lined mine with galvanised plate to strengthen the plastic.
These problems aside the mower has good power and lasts a good time. My lawn is reasonably flat with several different areas requiring easy starting and stopping. I require a full charge to mow the whole lawn when the grass has been left for two weeks. It throws the grass into the catcher well and the catcher empties easily. I need to empty the catcher 6 times to conplete the mowing. The mower is light and easy to maneuvered around trees and other obstacles. I guess the mower has problems out of the box but with good maintenance and a few modifications it's a really good mower.
Worst mower I have ever owned ! – I am sorry I got rid of my trusty petrol mower to buy this glorified toy mower. My petrol mower would virtually cut sugar cane down, but this Ozito twin 18v mower is flat out cutting the skin off a rice pudding ! Absolutely gutless. Constantly stops and needs restarting. Poor battery life, and batteries need to cool down before they will fast… Read more
charge. What used to take me 30 minutes to cut with my old petrol mower now takes three hours allowing for a battery recharge. It's going in the bin shortly and I am going back to petrol!
Safety sensors ruin this mower – Many people are reporting the lawn mower cuts out frequently and assume it is the battery. I have discovered it is sensors which incorrectly stop the mover. There is one for the handles. I inserted another washer under the locking lever and this helped stop this happening. I still find that if you are holding the handle and there is sideways… Read more
pressure, like sideways on a hill, it will slow and start to cut out. Disabling these sensors would be great as it is the most frustrating tool I have ever had. When it runs it cuts well.
Perfect mower for the first 4 months - then the batteries fail and mower is useless! – When I first got the mower I was very impressed. It worked like a dream for the first 4 months, with great battery life enabling me to finish my lawn on one charge, it's easy to use, cuts well, the folding handle is very useful for tight storage spaces, etc. But then after 4 months, for some reason the battery starts fading. At first it fades… Read more
and slows down periodically, even on short grass, then 2 weeks later at the next mowing it fades and slows down more frequently, then the next time I mow the mower is completely useless as it fades and cuts out every meter or two!! There is no way to mow with this kind of performance as it would take forever.
This is very disappointing, especially since this is the second mower that has had the same problem. I have to admit that Ozito and Bunnings were very helpful and just replaced my mower with a new one. Unfortunately the new one is now 4 months old and the exact same thing is happening. Unfortunately I have the full collection of Ozito lawn equipment so can't just switch to Ryobi without replacing everything.
Does anyone know if this problems occurs with Ryobi battery operated mowers? Assuming I can get a replacement mower, if this problem occurs with the third Ozito mower, I will just bite the bullet and buy a Ryobi mower.
I'm sorry to have to give this mower just 1 star, as otherwise if it weren't for the battery fading out I would give it 5 stars.
I just saw below in the questions that other people are having the same problem.
Much improved model – The previous Ozito did a good job, but battery life wasn't great, the height adjustment was very awkward to use, and the blade was available only on special order. The latest model has 33% more battery power, a simple height adjustment, a wider blade, seems much more robust altogether, is well made, and it has a power surge for several seconds if… Read more
the going gets suddenly harder. The catcher is easy to remove and replace. I have found two drawbacks: the batteries are very hard to remove, and the start/ stop lever requires far too much force to operate. The latter makes it very tiring to use, with a frequent loss of power as the grip is relaxed. Overall, a much improved model.

5 years warranty thought it must be really good – Hit a stone the size of a pingpong ball it totally destroyed the plastic yes that's right plastic bearing reatiners on the electric motor my old perol mower has hit hundreds of stone's and never had any issues like that apart from sharpening the blade would fix it . it's not fit for purpose as a lawnmower .now warranty it's my fault.if you own one hoover the lawn first Show details
Perfect for small to medium yard very impressed with first use – Bought it from bunnings today. took almost 5 minutes to get it ready after the first charge with 2 x 4ah batteries, finished the yard that has sir walter grass then used the same batteries for line trimming no issues. reasonably quiet, catcher has a fill indicator which is handy so you know when its time to empty it. 3 years warranty is cherry on top for peace of mind. very happy with the results, will update in 6 months if any issues.
