From what I can see the Panasonic Recorder DMR-XW480 CANNOT record MPEG4 stations and as such a new recorder needs to be purchased to enable recording of MPEG4 material. Please confirm or otherwise.
Hi Chief, Thank you for your question. The Panasonic DMR-XW480GL does not support recording channels broadcast in MPEG4 format. This recorder is designed to handle MPEG2 broadcasts, which were more common when the device was released. Our current range of recorders, listed on our Panasonic website under the categories Consumer, Home Entertainment, and All Recorders, supports recording channels that broadcast in MPEG4. Additionally, there is an FAQ under our Support section titled “Australian free-to-air networks adding MPEG4 TV channels” which provides details on our products that support MPEG4. I hope this information helps. If you’d like more information on our range of recorders, please call 132 600. Best regards, MM

hi i have one of these Panasonic DMR-XW380 if you have not rescanned for the new mp4 channels and leave the one that are on there, they will not have picture but it will play mp4 in time shift and it will record in DR and play the mp4 with picture and sound. but you will lose all mp channels if you rescan. what i want to know how to get back the tv station that i have lost, I do not care that there is no picture because it will play in time shift and record in Dr mode and play back fine
