The top menu button keeps saying its not available , disc tray takes 10 to 30 minutes to open, I tried restarting it to factory default, HDMI CEC not working with either a compatible tv at all. The player wants you to update it everytime you turn… Read more
it on and it won't load and install it it won't update at all. I bought it on 20th August at Harvey Norman in Orange NSW Australia this year. It worked the first day now it won't not with my tv. The player wont resume playback from where I last stopped it at.
Follow-up · They are DVDs and Blu ray Discs I have tried another brand new cable The discs got stuck inside the machine It doesnt matter we got rid of it.
Don’t expect a refund if faulty – Developed a disc drive fault after only 6 months and both JBHIFI and Panasonic refused to refund or exchange it (every customers right under the ACL). Will be shopping elsewhere going forwards. You’ve been warned. Show details

Top end player at a mid-range price – The Panasonic 820 seems designed to do one thing – spin all kinds of discs and create glorious picture quality which is far better than any home video image I have ever experienced. HDR and Dolby Vision where present look gorgeous. It doesn’t seem to want to read files off external drives, it’s region locked for DVDs and Blu Ray discs, and I can’t… Read more
comment on streaming, because mine is offline, so it’s not an all-rounder, but what it does, it does exceptionally well. I would assume that a videophile will have a budget player or two which can pick up some of the slack as regards functionality, but to just sit down and watch a movie played back by this thing is sheer delight. Has given new life to my physical media collection and if that sounds attractive to you, I would highly recommend a purchase!
Nice design and does all the things – I gave my DP-UB420 to a family member as they wanted a new player and then decided to upgrade to this model hoping that the remote would be better (the dreaded Netflix button position above play) plus it was on sale at JB. We use to watch DVDs, blurays and 4K movies and have no need for the Netflix app as our Sony TV has that. Works well with the… Read more
sound bar we have and haven't had any compatibility issues.
I like are the overall design and the front facing display, however it seems to attract a lot of dust and it stands out a lot. The remote design isn't great and you will continually press the Netflix button accidentally unless your train yourself to pay more attention.
Top Player – As a reference I have a Panasonic UB900 and Sony X800 4k players, both great players for their price brackets..... The picture quality for this player is better then both of these players, the sound is much the same as the other players, awesome . But to my ears the panasonics both sound better but no one will complain about the sony. So why only… Read more · 1
4 stars, the build quality is not as good as the other two and the remote is crap to use compare to the remote for the UB900. Panasonic could have charged another $10 for this unit and given us the ub900 remote or fixed the button lay out so it feels better to use for free. There is also audible noise from the disc drive at start up from my chair, hope this is due to the lower quality case and not a lower quality disc drive, but at the end of the day if you have the same players as me, no need to upgrade unless you want dolby vision or want to spoil yourself. I brought this for my birthday and do not regret it. You will be happy with this player. P.S. I am not a gamer so cannot compare to xbox, ps5. Cheers.
Another excellent product from Panasonic – I bought this player to upgrade from my Panasonic DMP-UB900 (which is staying with the family) that is hooked up to my home theatre set up to benefit from the latest HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technology. Did not disappoint. With the departure of Oppo from the video player market, this product definitely takes the top spot for as the best in my… Read more · 1
opinion. A great addition to the home audio-visual set up. My only gripe is that the remote control should be backlit.
Excellent 4K upscaler – Excellent 4K upscaler bluray player with easy menu options. Rated "best bang for your buck." It doesnt disappoint. Only caution is the build is plastic, so need to be careful. Show details · 1
Very, very Impressed Panasonic! – After Apple’s announcement about ITunes changing, I decided to start buying DVDs again particularly UHD (4k) discs. This way I physically own the movies and never have to worry about possibly losing access to them. I had bought approximately 20 UHD discs when I purchased this player from Panasonic. I initially had concerns after unboxing the… Read more · 1
player as it seemed very light and essentially made of plastic. My concerns were very quickly overcome when I saw and heard the quality of this player. The picture quality is absolutely stunning and the sound quality is glorious.
Set up was easy and intuitive although the user interface is a little dated.
Bang for your buck is huge given you can pick up this player for around $550, although they are starting to be hard to find.
Highly recommend this product, well done Panasonic.
