Panasonic Viera TH-P50VT20A / TH-P54VT20A / TH-P58VT20A / TH-P65VT20A Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi, just fired up tv after 10yrs of storage and can't get a signal so therefore can't update or get any channels. Tried 2 different aerial n no luck. Any tips on how to get a signal. Does this tv need 2b hooked up to internet with cables or not (can't remember how we use to have it set up). Also do we need to get Chrome cast to help update it n play the WII station. Is this fixable or is the TV just too old to bother.
Hi Lynne I. Its best to give our customer service team a call on 132600 and they will assist you further with your enquiry.
Thanks
Hi, it just needs to be adjusted to receive tv signal. Plug antenna in and do autotune. If you don’t get any HD channels, there is a setting in the menu to adjust. See how you go with auto tune first. Chromecast plugs into the hdmi port. It will work just fine if you have configured the chrome cast. It will also work with wii, Nintendo, PlayStation plugged into hdmi port. I’m watching my 2010 model as I write this. Mafs haha
Upon switch on, Right half screen comes up with snowy screen, left half black screen and than shuts off. Have not opened the unit yet, any possible fault suggestions.
Could be from a faulty HDMI cable, faulty backlights or interference from connected external devices.
Something similar happened to me and it turned out to be a faulty motherboard. Had it replaced for about $200 a few years ago. Good luck
Hi Paul, best to give our customer service team a call on 132600 and they will trouble shot and see if they can do anything from their end.
Thanks
Thank you.
classic T con/control board fault.
my Panasonic TH-p58VT20A shutdown after turn on about 30 seconds, then red light flash eleven times.
Could be the motherboard. Ring around, there’s spares for less than $200. Try to fix it because it’s a real good tv with solid manufacturing, much better than some of the cheap low quality ones they’re making now.
Sounds like the fan inside the unit needs to be cleaned from dust
thanks a lot, will try the way.
Is it possible to receive digital channels on this tv with a set top box and digital antenna?
Yes Digital channels should work with Antenna and Set top box.I have same tv and I get my digital channels through the antenna with no set top box as I use my Sony Playstation.
Yes, the tv has an inbuilt high definition decoder and is able to receive all free to air channels in your city.
Thanks guys. Will look further into it.
Can I get you tube stand and Netflix on this tv.
Pasquale
It has YouTube inbuilt. Netflix wasn’t invented back when tv was made, so no. But simple way is just to buy the google Chromecast for about $50, plug it into the tv and you have something better than most smart tvs.
Thank you Steve for your help got a Chromecast it worked a dream.
How to connect the camera to tv
Connect your camera with a Hdmi Cable in any hdmi point on Tv and once you connect it change tv to hdmi of the number you connect to.So press Av button on remote and the selections will come up.

You will have to go into Tv Settings and Tuning Channels.Do a scan of all channels and the channels will be found.
Yes, go into settings and find the scan channels option. Click on it and it should do everything automatically. Make sure your a antenna is plugged into the tv and wall. Good luck

Hi. Do you know how I could sell this TV? It’s still working really well and has a beautiful picture but am looking to update to a 4K OLED HD TV now.
You can sell on Gumtree ,ebay or Facebook for sale pages in your area.
Good morning, This model is a full HD 1080p TV yet after performing an auto tune, it doesnt store the free to air HD channels. Has this TV got a built in HD tuner? Thanks
Hi Jim, while this had a HD tuner, this product does not play MPEG4 channels which is why you are finding you can't tune in all of the newer channels. For further details please refer to our FAQ external link
Cool, that does help. I’ve haven’t been watching HD on this tv for quite a while. Seems strange that there is a secret mp4 activation menu requiring user selection. This should happen automatically. Anyway, it’s white an old tv now, but still works and looks great. Thanks Panasonic
Thanks Steve I agree, mp4 should activate automatically, Happy that I've got those channels now Thanks also to Panasonic for replying. much appreciated
I cant get all ma channels on my viera 65EX600
I have the model P58VT20A. When playing a DVD with subtitles the TV shows only the upper half of the first line of the subtitles. I have accessed the Setup box but there appears to be no amendment to ensure the full display of the sub title . Anyone any ideas as to what one should do?
Is this out of market?
No idea, as I bought mine Dec'13
Since SBS have upgraded there transmission recently. I can not now pick up SBS on our TH-P54VT20A television. My other two TV's no problems with receiving SBS.
I have done a automatic retune yesterday with no success. Why and any suggestions?

hi Andrew,
I am not sure why this happened. Whenever there are upgrades to HD and new channels, my TV prompts me to auto-tune.
Try manual tuning if it's available on your TV
Hi Gorakh. I just a few moments ago I turned on the Panasonic Plasma television and it automatically come up with a question allowing me to do a complete channel frequency search. Amazingly it found all the SBS channels as well as the others plus a few radio stations as well.
Yesterday I attempted to do a software upgrade using the LAN cable through the Ethernet inlet located on the rear of the television. This might have helped but I'm not sure.
Miraculously the television has found all the stations.
I really appreciate your feed back.
Thank you.
As of April 2016 I've managed to get all the new channels like 7flicks etc by pressing MENU, select SETUP, DIGITAL TV TUNING MENU then ADD MPEG4 ACV CHANNELS. Press ok on that and then turn the tv off at the main power switch at the side of the unit. Turn it back on, it will do another auto channel search and you should have all the new channels. Thankyou Google!
I've had this tv for right on 6 years and its been used for thousands of hours playing games and movies. Very happy with the unit and the fact that the option was embedded into the tv to allow for future broadcast formats like mpeg4
This worked for me too .. thanks :-)
Is this a HD TV if so how do I tune it in Please?
Hi, Yes, It is HD TV. When you plug in for the first time, you will be prompted to tune-in. Alternatively, you can go to settings and choose to tune-in Every time new channel is detected (which is once in blue moon), you will be prompted to tune-in by just pressing "OK" button.
thx
Gorakh
Yes when I got the TV about 3 years I tuned it in now going to settings its will only give up the channels that are already tuned in what am I missing :-)

I want to know if the stand from the 50" Viera TH-p50VT20A will fit a 55" Viera TH-P55ST30A. looking at investing in the 50" but my father-in-law has a 55" and thew the stand away has moved into a new place and no longer wants it wall mounted, where as i want it mounted. so i thought i would just give him the stand off my new tv but i need to make sure it compatible????
Hi, Sorry I'm not sure about that.Panasonic may know. Regards.
