Penn Spinfisher V

Good reel – Good reel, penn is very sturdy and takes a beating when catching larger fish, and easy to clean assemble and disassemble. Its a longer lasting reel than cheaper models and its good in salt water against larger fish when using a boat but also good of jetties. Good for jigging also

Great reel – I have the 3500V and have caught lots of mackerel on it by high speed spinning. I find it very powerful and smooth although a little heavy but very solid. I gave it only four stars because the O Rings are affected by solvents when servicing the reel. Just wipe them clean and re-lube them with silicon grease, Simple design which does not require the rotor to be removed when opening the side plate. I deliberately didn't do anything to it for two years and it held up well. Very happy and great value.

Penn Spinfisher SSV4500LL – Purchased brand new to go Snapper fishing in New Zealand. Spooled with 30lb braid, fished with 20 - 60lb leader and handled fish up to 6kg with ease. Very robust strong no nonsense reel that punches well above it's weight for it's size. The baitrunner style drag is very positive and although it takes a bit more pressure on the handle to engage the main drag it works very well and just feels better and more solid than Shimanos which I also use and like. Penn spin reels weigh more than Shimanos which is a negative especially for long sessions but if you like that smooth solid feel and a reel with a bit extra up its sleeve just in case, you can't go wrong. Smooth solid feel and great value for money Not much except they are a heavy reel but this also gives you that solid feel.

Good one – I bought the 6500 Penn Spinfisher V. I took it with me on a fishing holiday in Bali. 7 days of fishing every day. Had no problems with 10 to 25 kg yellow fins. The drag feels very smooth but strong, feel very solid. The reel itself is not really heavy did some jigging quite comfortably. I did some trolling with it as well. It’s a all-rounder. Loving it! Saving some money to get the 3500 one. Smooth but solid Nothing so far
