Faulty from the start – After purchasing this unit primarily to play music CDs, it gave me constant "disc error" messages. I returned it to the retailer, and as the Pioneer service centre could not fix it, I was given a replacement unit. That worked for a short while but was never really suitable as a CD player as it would not show the track numbers on the discs. Before… Read more

long, the tray would not open at all, and it was outside the guarantee period. Into the bin it went! I used to be a fan of Pioneer hi-fi components but this is one of the shoddiest consumer products I've ever purchased.

Mysteriously died after a year and a half – A great multi-region that does everything you could need. However, despite only very light use (had probably only played 100-150 movies), it suddenly wouldn't power up. No lights, nothing, dead. It was protected by a surge protector board that was conscientiously unplugged during storms, etc. Only one year warranty. As it was out of warranty… Read more

I had the internal AC power supply checked out from a repairer to see if it was an easy fix. The power supply checked out fine and fuse was intact suggesting no major voltage input issues. So the issue was not an easy fix. It could be component or PCB failure (cheap components), bad solder (cheap construction, but couldn't see a dry solder anywhere) or something else, each of which would cost a fair amount of time in labor to find and fix. I am really disappointed that buying a new player is cheaper than repair (bad for the environment too) and if I have it repaired I can't trust the other components. I had expected much better from the Pioneer brand. Perhaps this is just a rebranded generic player? A very similar region-free player (albeit with no wifi) is available from the Laser brand for half the retail price of this player ($99 compared with $199).

Died in 3 Years – Used sparingly since I bought it . Probably only watched a dozen movies. After 2 years and 11 months it just refused to turn on at all. Good while it worked. Expected it to last a bit longer. Previously had a Pioneer DVD player that lasted 10 years so maybe corners are being cut now?  Show details

A Great DVDBluRay Player – A very good DVD player. Plays FLAC (lossless audio) for excellent sound reproduction. Coupled with a high end speaker system, this dvd/blu ray player really is the best and most versatile at the time of purchase, and still two years later. Plays region A , B , 1,2,3 BDs/DVDs respectively and 'region free ' enough!

Unreliable – Bought this at the store person recommendation over many other brands (dicksmith). A large device that can play blu-ray and 3d. I used it very sparingly and in an enclosed TV cabinet. But suddenly it wouldn't power up consistently. Remote power button or the power button on the monitor didn't seem to matter. Returned to store in 6 months time and… Read more

the store person confirmed the problem. He gave us a replacement of the same model but assured to consider a different model if this one fails too! Lost trust in Pioneer's quality - it appears they no longer have stringent quality control. Features (blu-ray, 3d) Unreliable - failed to power up consistently (replaced under warranty)
