Good – I bought mine for about $700 five years ago based on Choice reviews. It stopped recording this year after 1yr of intermittent problems where discs would get corrupted. I loved it, burned several hours every day, so easy to program. Still plays DVDs except it can't recognise discs it burned years ago. Repair shop said would cost $500 to replace… Read more
the drive. Nowadays can get digital SD recorders with large hard drive for $500, Pioneer don't seem to make DVD recorders any more which is a shame. I've decided to rig my computer up to record TV. Easy to use and program. Plays all DVDs. No digital signal, no hard drive, can only burn to DVD-R, -RW discs with 1x speed. When mine stopped recording, was quoted recently $500 for replacement drive.
Terrible – The first and last piece of Pioneer anything I will ever buy, customer service have been no help at all, $700 down the drain, I wouldn't even sell it to my sister in-law........! It looks nice As per previous reviews, regularly spits out DVD's it burned, and can't find any DVD-RW 1-2X in the shops and it won't take anything else......crap, haven't used it for months as it makes me so angry, bought a player for $49 that plays anything I put in it.

unit they are both excellent. Belive me, this is NOT a paid advertisment, but I'm more than Happy I stuck with Pioneer on this one. I'd be very surprised if there were a better DVD Recorder in this price range. Above my Expectations. A couple of usefull features [For me] that weren't apparent in the 'adds'. The ability to record from an NTSC source, as well as PAL. Also you can manually adjust the picture quality & 'timing', to suit the length of program being recorded. Haven't found any yet.
