well, the battery life is pathetic around 8 hours or less. I have replaced with Logitech MX MECHANICAL MINI which stays charged for weeks. Exellent keyboard!

The customisation options of the keyboard are lacking, there's a lot of control with the Razer Synapse app but the learning curve is steep. Secondly the settings don't save, so expect to open Synapse and reset it every time.

Keyboard breaks right after the warranty – Bought a Razer BlackWidow Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, ports were breaking throughout the period purchased. The warranty lasted for 2 years but conveniently the USB ports and cable stop working right after 2 years was up. Nothing can be done, this is a major problem with the keyboard and I wouldn't ever buy a product from them again.

Great keyboard – This keyboard is great i use it every day basically all day from gaming to studying, it has never let me down or anything ive been using it for almost a year now without an issue comfy on the wrist for long periods or gaming, the only down fall that i would say is the mechanical keys at times are very loud

Plasticky and what's worse, very noisy. They buttons are anything but terrible for gaming, Razer should go back to CherryMX and stop rippingoff customers.

Works as a keyboard for games – I got this keyboard with the green back light, Razer BlackWidow Ultimate. The green light is nice and can be customised. The keys I got were the normal non stealth clicky ones. From laptop chiclet keyboard to razer blackwidow mechanical keyboard the transition is nice and I really like how the keyboard feels when typing and playing.

Fully customisable – We bought the keyboard to use with our new gaming desktop. The lighting can save several different setttings, so different family members can easily switch between their preferred setting. It come with a range of in built colour designs but one of the best features is that each individual key can be customised, so if you want wasd highlighted and the rest off you can.

I love this keyboard! Back in 2015 when I had first bought this keyboard, my intention was to use it to type faster for reports, but its versatility in all areas are exceptional, and not only did it aid me in dishing out papers more efficiently, its tactile feel, complemented by the high-end materials used, helped me improve drastically in video gaming of all sorts.Furthermore, the ability for me to completely customize the choice of keys, as you can swap out keys, not only allows me to consistently have a fresh feel with the keyboard but makes cleaning a cinch, with everything being accessible and right in front of you and expanding off the note of customizability, if you are using the chroma version, you get the added factor of being able to completely control color scheme using the entire spectrum really can add that extra special feel to the keyboards, while at the same time making them completely unique as you can make them do just about anything, from illuminating certain keys to aid in gaming to just simply make it look completely colorful with its presets. Overall this keyboard is one made to last, and one that you love. This keyboard is truly an exemplary keyboard among the other regular keyboards and well worth the money with all the features it provides.

Razer, guys! Seriously! By gamers, for gamers! – Can't complain at all, it's in their slogan "designed by gamers, for gamers" their CEO; Min Liang-Tan is an absolute genius. I own pretty much all of the chroma pieces including this black widow and it's survived multiple spills, droppings and beatings. This thing is an absolute beast.

Please note, I do not use this keyboard for gaming, rather I work as a software developer and feel the mech keyboards give way better feedback, and surprisingly reduce coding typos.

It is an expensive keyboard, but if you look around you can find them for under half of the rec retail.

Super Expensive but great to use – Bought this for my son who loves his gaming. Bought on eBay where it was considerably cheaper and he absolutely loves it, the mechanical keys, flashing lights and speed he can type are all fantastic. Lets hope it lasts the distance to justify the price... I don't however like the font on the keys, it makes it a lot harder to read the actual letters than a standard keyboard.

they successfully obtained their popularity in their targeted consumers - they started using cheaper production methods for a wide range of their products. One of the major, disgusting changes that they have made in their production is changing from Cherry MX to Kailh switches for their keyboards.

The major problem to this keyboard is its switch. Razer claims that they have designed and produced the "World's first switch designed for gaming", which is terrible because they literally are just stupid knockoffs of the bad enough Kailhs which themselves are knockoffs of Cherry MXs, but Razer tries to hide the fact that they are produced by Kailh by naming these green and orange "Razer switches", which is official. I have mainly used the orange switches (stealth), which are terrible compared to Cherry MX Browns on basically any other keyboard.

These keys just feel extremely cheap, muddy, and have a looser alignment when pressed compared to Cherry MXs. Each spring of each individual switch has a ridiculously big difference in feel, which completely stuffs up the pressure of the supposedly "designed for gaming" switches. Another problem is the tactileness which effects the pressure as well, since they are all different as well in each individual switch. These switches are like, a mouldy potato compared to the god, Cherry MX. The 3rd problem: The stablisers sure do stabilise the longer keys, so much that they even provide an "over-rigidity" to the keys that have stabilisers. They fit some of the keys terribly, which make some with stabilisers extremely loose and loud to press, like the backspace in my case (sounds like fragments of broken glass in it, but I've checked). This is one of the worst value keyboards with Cherry Knock-off keys.

The keyboard itself looks alright, but is completely plastic which just decreases the quality of it furthermore, especially since it's not cheap at all. The surface of the keycaps are pretty easy to get dirty if sweating, and the matte surface of the body of the keyboard is even worse, so that you have to clean it everyday even after 1 hour of gameplay if you do not want it to look like you expressed your love all over it. Another problem though - the keyboard is really high even without the grippy feet up, which causes wrist stress after like half an essay.

In conclusion: this keyboard - and the range of Razer Blackwidow keyboards are terrible, so much that the only thing I ended up liking about it was the braided cable (I'm serious). Do not get this keyboard, it will ruin your life for a few years while you try and earn back the money that you paid for it.

By the way, compared to a Corsair K65 ('bout the same price but 10 key less) which I would rather buy than a Blackwidow.

Alternative for Blackwidow tournament edition in Australia: might as well get a membrane - SteelSeries Apex Raw or the Razer Deathstalker which is actually good, but extremely expensive. For Blackwidow (Expert), and the Blackwidow Ultimate: Corsair K65, or the CM Storm series, or Gigabyte Osmium. For Blackwidow Chroma: K70-AB, K95, Logitech Orion Spark, or CM Storm Mech. Friendly advice: Razer is like Beats Audio, but not that bad.

comfortable for typing on for study and this was perfect.

Pros:

- The keys are halfway into the keyboard body so they're not as high off as the Steel Series 6G V2 or the Corsairs K50 to K75 which I find great because it's much easier to type on.

- The price is affordable at $100

- The typing experience and the weight of the keys are perfect for me

- The fully programmable functionality with its software is very easy to install and use

-The threaded wiring is very nice

- The keyboard has a nice weight to it and seems durable and sturdy

- The USB port and headphone jack are very convenient

Cons:

- It is very loud, but that's not a big con. I'd still get this over the stealth version or a keyboard with Cherry MX Blacks/Browns any day of the week.

- The Macro keys aren't as easy to configure if you want a sequence

If you're looking for a cheaper mechanical keyboard, and you're new to the mechanical world so you want something that still has relatively low keys and is comfortable to type on, definitely get the Black Widow. If you don't like how loud it is, the Stealth is still an option.

But at the end of the day mechanical keyboards are really just a personal decision, so make sure to try one out before buying it.

(from 60 - 65 wpm). It's also more fun to type although the noise will get to people around you.

Extra features are minimal (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and include a function key for additional controls and 5 macro keys that sit conveniently to the left within reach of your left pinky.

The Ultimate Edition also comes with backlit keys, and USB and headphone/mic connectivity on the right side of the keyboard. If you play in the dark, the backlit keys are useful if you're not a pro touch-typist. I use the headphone/mic jack regularly and I like the idea of being able to plug in a USB device without having to reach for the computer.

Visually, the BlackWidow (and especially the Ultimate with blue glowing keys) looks very stylish with little nonsense and a glossy black case. It's a fingerprint magnet though, so keep a soft cloth handy.

Razer's software is excellent and gives you total control over the keyboard's functionality including detailed macros for the macro buttons. Also, you can create macros on the fly using just the keyboard although I've yet to do this myself.

All-in-all, a great keyboard that stands out yet doesn't look try-hard like a lot of the Logitech models. Responsive, tactile feedback. Stylish. Noisy for people nearby.
