What is a significant injury – I had Real Insurance Income Protection Cover for 3 years, Policy sold to me over the phone, (probably from a Call Centre outside Australia - the deductions commenced immediately. said and from the Policy I was was completely covered for Income Protection. . After having the Policy for 3 years I was the victim of an assault. My right leg was amputated / removed from just below the hip by the surgeon; if not amputated I was told I would die within 6 months. So i am now one-legged.. I was at qualified Chef... After recovery from surgery I lodged a Claim against my Income Protection Insurance with Real Insurance. .They denied the claim stating it was not a significant injury... on Page 2 half way down the Page it states a 'Significant injury requires two limbs... One Complete Leg Cut Off is not enough; claim denied. Are they for real???

They take your money but wont pay out! – Husband had injury at work. Unable to work due to chronic pain. Applied to Real Insurance once workcover payments stopped. Real insurance wont pay out bill cover as there is apparently evidence of pre-existing injury from 5 years ago that hasnt caused any ongoing problems. Congratulations Real. A must have – I would have lost everything without my income protection/bill cover. I had no troubles with my claims through the year.
