When replacing defective components for your vehicle

When replacing brakes and calipers use the best ceramic units available. Ensure your repairers are not importing cheaper copies. Also, don't use the Renault brakes and calipers as there are better manufacturers, in Taiwan, especially. Always ask for your defective components to be returned to you and, check the replacement items are what's being put in are legitimate. Show details

Renault Master and Trafic gearbox repairs

Not only do I fix these problems, with my auto electrical and mechanical experience, I have built a test bench to test and simulate the robot. I also put the actuator under heavy stress to make sure the components won’t fail in a hurry. So far my success rate is 100% Show details

Great work van, this is my 4th Renault commercial

Love the van, and I always bought manuals, we do country miles and average about 7lt/100k, with fair loads. Early dealers in Canberra were great, with nothing too much trouble, and loan cars were always arranged for country operators. We bought 3 Renaults from them, the last one supplied from Melbourne dealership. We live 3 1/2 hours from Canberra, present ACT franchises will do loaners only if you bought the van from them and are very vague about when you could come for service. Not impressed. Luckily the van is trouble-free and would buy another and only complaint is not being able to get the van serviced by a Renault dealer. Show details

My 3rd Renault Master

I have had 3 Renault Masters keeping each for about 4-5 years each and putting between 110-140,000km on each. I ONLY bought manual transmission as the auto's look and feel horrible, but the manuals are silky smooth and would recommend.
I have had found the vans very mechanically reliable but have had the odd electrical / sensor issue. Sadly had an ECU go on my current van about 6 months out of warranty so had to fork out AUD$2200 for that fix, but other than that they have been good. Now the warranty period is 5 years is a real positive. Renault Australia could do a better to keep more parts in the country for when something does go wrong.
For the price compared to the the Crafter and Sprinter they are good value. Show details

2 days since purchase and warning engine overheating

Day 2 had warning light after travelling 60 Klm that day. Terrible diesel economy. Won’t change auto gear to D6 unless going over 100klm so if you are in an 110 km zone you can get the gears to change. Kangaroo jumps at start and now day 4 and still not able to go home. At dealership and usual story can’t find a problem. Show details

Great value van

We bought a 2020 LWB auto shifted Master 2nd hand with 6.5k on it and converted it to a campervan. In the time since, we have toured extensively and have had zero mechanical problems or in fact issues of any kind. The way the gearbox shifts gear takes a little to get used to but, unlike what we have heard about the early models, it has been trouble free. Considering the van is fully loaded ALL the time, the fuel economy has been reasonable and averages 10 to 11 litres per hundred kilometres depending on how hard the driving is. Services have been fixed price under the 4 year warranty. Show details

Was a good price, but now has cost a bomb

I use the van everyday, I drive it easy and nice but it just breaks down. Gearbox issues, clutch issues, map sensors and other sensors, now water pump has failed. Show details

Gear box problem

New Dec ‘20. When stopping trans would take over & select N or Drv3 would not allow acceleration..twice back to Cairns from Cooktown..10 days wait for pump..very scary for a senior solo lady when it selected neutral 1/2 way up one of steepest narrow roads in Oz. If I turned it off n on I could select Drive but then it started to stay in 1st or 2 Nd gear. Still waiting for girl to ph me back from head office since July. Show details

totally agree

I own a Renault Master Cab Chassis 2018 2.3 Turbo Diesel 6 speed auto 22,500 klms on the clock.
I had the same issue with the Gearbox stuck in Neutral. Its turns out after a Diagnostic examination
that hydro service pump has to be replaced because they cannot repair the seals???? Its like a car that may have a puncture, so lets throw the wheel away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do I know if my car needs it's transmission fluid changed or topped up I have a 2011

Hi Amanda. In most cases it doesn't require topping up unless it has a leak or wear is evident. In any case, it's not an easy, fast procedure if your not equipped with the right tools and time on your hands.

Have had to have rear brake pads and brake rotor replaced twice in 6 months (20,000) surly that cant be right

My Renault Master X70 had a flat battery I tried to start it after charging the battery for a short while and now it won't select reverse gear or drive in manual mode, while the engine is off but the key is in the ignition if you touch the gear selector trying to get reverse or neutral it will go up through the gears, any help please.
