DO NOT recommend the Ryobi One+ 125mm cordless Angle grinder at all. Paid $200(Bunnings New Zealand) but am unhappy with it's performance. It cuts out with only light/medium use, drains the battery really fast and really lacks power, it's only good for grinding off the odd nail here and there and that's about it. Brand new Ryobi cordless grinder, brand new 5A batteries, it stops after about 15 seconds. New charged batteries – Ryobi ONE+ brand new and brand new batteries, fully charged. Batteries get hot in 20 seconds and show as empty, and it stops. Take battery out restarts but then stops again after 20 seconds. Cuts out after a couple of seconds cutting light metal. Clearly not fit for purpose – The grinder cuts out only after a few seconds when cutting light metal with a fine cut off wheel. Not what I expect out of an angle grinder. I have many Plus One tools and this is the only one so far that is most certainly not fit for purpose. Other reviews are similar so it appears it's an issue with design. Very disappointed!

Useless – I have a few ryobi tools drills ,rattle gun,sander all ryobi one but there is one ryobi item i would never buy again and thats there GRINDER i havent been able to cut a thing without it just stopping, thought it was battery but no its the grinder now im hearing from mates that are having same problem. September 9th 2019 Update: Ryobi brushless

Thought it would be a lot better than what it is, as i only use ultra thin blades and put the least amount of pressure and still it cuts out, I'm happy with all my other ryobi products but would not recommend the brushless grinder and completely forget about buying the one with brushes as you cant cut butter with it.

Ok product... when it works – Product was purchased for my parents. It worked for a short while (six months) but then the charger and the battery started going. no! Customer service is everything. If you aren't willing treat customers with respect and courtesy, then there are plenty of other brands that are great. Just bought a Milwaukee - fantastic product. Great customer service, they already replaced a battery, no questions.

Terrible just terrible – I have every tool imaginable from ryobi but this grinder is just terrible. As soon as you put a little pressure on it it shuts off and wont run again unless you put a new battery on it. Batteries get drained in just a few minutes of light use. square foot area before the battery ran out. Its not the batteries sinse i took it off and used it on the drill and the recipro saw and they both worked fine. Its just the grinder thats the problem. Most of my batteries have less than 2 years of use.

Quite happy – This is perfectly good for my little jobs. however I find the wheels extremely difficult to change, trying to keep enough force on the button thing while you try to undo the bits holding the wheel on, is really hard. Ryobi does not honor warranties – I bought the Ryobi One+ blower/weedeater combo. The battery is supposed to have a 3 year warranty. Mine died before the 3 year period ended. I called Ryobi and they gave me a run around and would not honor the warranty because they said the model/serial number didn't match even though I told them they all came in the same box. No more Ryobi tools for me. Also the battery jams in the weedwacker and required a lot of work to get it out.  Show details

Handy home Reno/demo tool – I have used this grinder, in conjunction with my Ryobi 18V One+ 2nd Gen reciprocating saw, to chop up a huge fibreglass swim spa which has a 2"X1" box section steel frame and plastiwood housing. Not as good as other tools in the One Plus range – I should have taken notice of the returned ones at Bunnings. Very heavy battery use. Even a 5Ah battery won't last anymore than a few minutes for most average grinding eg removing rust. It kept cutting out when I attempted to use a sanding disc or a lambs wool buffing disc. Physically heavy (even without the battery) and longer than comparable corded grinders, so hard to get into small spaces. Was happy with the vacuum, drill and multi-tool in this range but this grinder was a disappointment. Avoid.

Absolute rubbish – keeps on stopping under the slightest pressure and very heavy on the juice. I wouldn't even recommend it to the DIY project. You better of with tin snips. I upgraded to the Makita for roughly the same price and I tell you it's chalk and cheese. The Makita is like a warm knife through butter.

hour of continuous use. I would hardly ever need that much anyway, since it gets fired up occasionally to make a quick cut or clean up some metal. Haven't overheated it yet, with around 50% duty cycle, it hasn't cut out on me.

It's no powerhouse :) It's only a 4.5-inch grinder, and it spins at only 7500 rpm. Comparing to my corded entry-level 700w Bosch 5-inch grinder that spins at 11000 rpm, you notice that things take a little longer. On the other hand, this makes it more manageable, because it doesn't take away as much material. Not really a bad or a good thing, considering how you look at it.

The dead man's switch gives a great sense of security. Generally very comfortable to use with regular grip, but overhand grip with the body twisted 90 degrees, for cutting away from oneself, is a bit awkward because of the double switch, but manageable. Also, specifically for sharpening tungstens, can't use it as a bench grinder because you always have to have at least one hand on the switch, but manageable as well.

My two biggest qualms with it are that it's a 4.5 instead of a 5-inch grinder, which would have given me greater selection of accessories, and that the included disc is just rubbish that makes very slow work. Throwing a generic Bosch disc on it made work go much quicker.

Overall, ticks almost all the boxes!

won't get you far. This is normal. The motor cuts out when it gets too hot to avoid the thing being plastic molten lava in your hand. If you understand this, you won't don't push it like a sumo in a grand tournament. A corded grinder is needed for strenuous work. You must also use the 1mm cutting disc. The 2mm discs are just nasty and I only use 1mm in both corded and cordless. I cut through Colorbond corrugated sheet, coping, RHS, bolts and nuts and reo quite happily on site and don't need to take a generator unless there's going to be a lot of consecutive cutting. For the convenience and agility of quick cuts, this thing is a little ripper!

Ryobi one angle grinder over heats – Purchased at Bunnings about 12 months ago, it has been used to trim sandstone rocks and cut colour bond sheets. Problem is after a few minutes the grinder over heats and melts the plastic around the battery terminals. Today it finally overheated and died...will need to find a replacement that is not a Ryobi...

Good idea, poorly executed – After using this grinder for 2 minutes, the battery becomes flat, pretty useless if you ask me. I purchased this tool based on the good performance of others in the ryobi one range, not sure if I'll take the risk in future. Time to return this piece of junk to bunnings...

Grinder not as i thought it would be – The Ryobi battery grinder i purchased was reasonable at time of purchase but had poor power and battery went flat quickly. As i used it more the grinder would hardly turnover and i thought the battery was the problem. I purchased a new battery and it made no difference to grinder. Maybe they need to supply a very high voltage battery for grinder. I have gone back to my 240 volt unit Doug Kindeer 25/12/14

Love it – I have always hated using angle grinders, they have always felt uncomfortable and dangerous. Until now, getting rid of the cord makes them GREAT!!! Yes... you DO need the big batteries and a few of them! but what a great grinder!

You need the big batteries – I have one of these for work and have found it really handy where it is difficult to get power. A huge time saver as you don't need to run leads and then hang or cover them as trip hazards. If you are cutting you need to buy the thin cut off disks to ensure that your battery life is used well. Extremely handy It is fairly large for an angle grinder, you need the larger battery

Battery life is terrible for sanding/stripping disks – I have around 10 tools in the 18 volt one+ range and they all work really well. I purchased the angle grinder and some sanding disks to strip paint off a beam at home. the smaller batteries was around 2 minutes and the large battery at about 4 minutes. After contacting Ryobi, they told me that these times are common for a high-powered device like this. I recommend if you have got a job that takes longer than a couple of continuous minutes it's best to go with a corded grinder. I also have the circular saw in this range and even though it seems to use as much power, it's battery use was really good. Lightweight Battery life for stripping/sanding is useless

The neat thing that I was facinated with was the disc locking key being incorperated into the handle....freakin awesome!!! No cords, well priced, chuck key in handle, universal "one" battery CoG awkward, lacks grunt of corded unit.

Good – i used this tool while constructing a galvanized pole fence on a civil construction job and i was impressed with how well it worked. really good for trimming or small clean up jobs, saves firing up a generator every time you need to cut or grind this grinder really works! great for small or quick jobs the only thing I found to be a disadvantage is the overall length of the grinder, making it difficult to get into tighter spaces.
