This was a replacement for the previous model. The one before it seized after pretty heavy use but still iin warranty. As luck would have it, the new equivalent is $100 more expensive and Bunnings had to exchange like-for-like not price-for-price. The cheaper one does not have the handle rotate feature. My joy was short lived. This thing is ridiculously heavy making it exhausting to trim our hedges and harder to get straight lines. It also makes trimming on the ladder dangerous because it drastically changes your balance of weight. The requirement to hold down the leavers as far in as they go is frustrating - even the slightest movement on it and it stops. It isn't repsponsive when starting and every time you think it's jammed. The only good thing is it cuts well when it is running. At the end of the day, the reality is I hate it.

A Misleading Disgrace – I am a Gardener who has used a variety of hedge trimmers from Stihl to even Makita. Of the brands I used, none are as crap as Ryobi. This hedge trimmer was meant to be the better replacement for my 36v Hedge Trimmer since it broke after 2 months of use. I tested the new hedge trimmer after buying and contrary to what Ryobi says, the misleading "3000SPM" (strokes per minute) is more like 800SPM (strokes per minute). The 36V hedge trimmer that goes at 1600 SPM is way faster. This new hedge trimmer has also a lever that needs to be pressed all the way in and gripped for it to start and stay running compared to the normal 36V hedge trimmer that starts easily and requires little grip on the lever.

The Best thing to do is avoid Ryobi hedge trimmers, pole saws and leaf blowers as, from experience, they let you down and won't last you the year.
