Customer Services by Samsonite Melbourne – We have had this suitcase for almost 7 years. We travelled with it at least once a year. While we were in Cambodia 3 weeks ago, we found out that we could no longer simply close the lid of our Cruisair Lite suitcase in one smooth process. The lid would not align without some manipulation. Also, the clips may close but we could not move the… Read more

combination dial. We worked out by chance that the handle on the top side needs to be pulled upwards in order to allow us to rotate the combination dial.

We contacted Samsonite directly for warranty claim after we arrived back in Melbourne. As part of the assessment, we emailed them details of the fault including close shots of the lid and the clips and proof of purchase. We received an email from them the next day informing us that they had approved our warranty claim with the options for a unit exchange or a store credit.

We opted for the store credit. The whole exercise from start to finish took less than 3 days. Great customer service at Samsonite Melbourne.

Next step....go shopping for a new Samsonite suitcase this week.

Samsonite Warranty is not actually a warranty at all the Customer Service at the registered Agents i – Bought this case and travelled on two holidays of 5 week duration each trip. After travelling by coach, taxi and train I noticed a crack on the side of the case when we checked into our hotel and I examined the case it was cracked in two places. I purchased some waterproof tape from a hardware store and taped up from the inside to complete our… Read more

trip.

On our return to Perth I went into the registered Samsonite repair agent in Walcott Street and showed the case to the lady in the shop her first advice to me was it has been damaged by the airline and not covered under the 10 year global warranty. We advised that we had been on a coach, then taxi then train and the lady advised the repair person would assess the damage and advise us.

We asked if it would be sent to Samsonite to asses and she advised they were the registered agents and made that assessment. I asked how long it would take and was advised a few days. After 9 days we had heard nothing at all so I called them and they advised me the case had been repaired as it was badly damaged I expressed amazment as I had expected a replacement case.

We went into the Walcott Street shop to check the case and collect it. We were then advised that there was a charge for the "work" I advised we had mot given authorisation for any work to be carried out and what ensued was u believable this woman argued with us for approx ten minutes she claimed the first person we saw when we handed the case in had advised us the case wasn't covered by warranty as it was caused by an airline. I reiterated the coach, taxi, train to this person and asked why we had to contact them to find out if they had any information for us and she sarcasticallly said thats why we tell you to ring us if you haven't heard anything.

I advised this woman that we had not been advised to call if we didn't hear anything. This woman called Samonite and the Samsonite staff member offered to provide me with a letter to claim from my holiday insurance company - not sure how that would be possible as they had "repaired " the case without authorisation. The Samsonite person then advised that on this occassion she would forego the charge for the repair and as I was really fed up with the total attack on myself and my husband I accepted.

We left without checking the quality of the work. OMG is the only thing I can say the repair work is absolutely disgraceful they have stuck an extra piece of plastic on top of the major crack with sharp edges so if you were to try and pack clothes inside it would damage your clothing.

So my advise is Never Buy a SAMSONITE hardcase the warranty means nothing and the after service is non existant. Basically the samsonite agent in Perth has set up a very lucrative business on the pretence of being the Warranty agent for several case manufacturers.

Deplorable product and even worse service – I have now had two of these horrible suitcases. The hard casing of the first one was dented and subsequently cracked during an overseas trip. The airline replaced on my behalf. The frame of the second identical case has been dented from the back and is now out of line and won't close properly. I have contacted the service centre in Brisbane to… Read more

action the '10 year Warranty' only to be accused of 'jumping' on my case, told the warranty is not likely to cover it, yet invited into the store to waste my Saturday talking to a disinterested staff member about what my options are. Terrible. The first case was only ever used once and the second case broke on my third trip. I have used Samsonite luggage my whole life without a problem but this particular case is a complete let down. Don't waste your money on this model and don't waste your time on Samsonite service. Buy another brand. I know I certainly will be.

The model is weak and the Samsonte support service is poor.

Poor product; poor post-purchase support – I purchased my Samsonite Cruisair Spinner for over AUD$300 (at a discount) in July 2010. The shell cracked after two flights. The first flight was in September 2010, from Melbourne to Berlin in which it performed well. A month and a half later I flew from Berlin to New York City. It was during my time in the United States that I realised the… Read more

approximately 12cm split in the case near the housing of the handle.

Two weeks after the New York flight I was back in Berlin. I contacted Samsonite Australasia via email but received no reply. It was only when I contacted the department store I bought the case from that I received word from Samsonite.

The man from Samsonite was more than cordial and genuinely wanted to help me. I was directed to an authorised repair agent in Berlin. The repair agent said it was the fault of the airline, and thus not the problem of Samsonite (even though I am adamant the split was not sustained during the flight). This prognosis from the repair agent meant I was unable to lodge any claim with the airline, as this needs to be done pretty much before you leave the airport. The repair agent also said it would cost €40 to repair to case.

I again contacted Samsonite to see if they would cover the cost of the repair - in my view, for "the world's strongest suitcase" to falter after only two flights less than four months after purchase, there must be some error in manufacturing. Samsonite told me there was nothing they could do in the way of compensating me, however, they offered me assistance in purchasing any other Samsonite products in the future. I feel that this offer in assisting me with another Samsonite purchase will come in handy for my next holiday to watch the pigs fly over hell's frozen mountain tops. Aesthetically pleasing, light, simple. Expensive, bad warranty service, bad company spirit.

My Samsonite HardCase is Rubbish – The only thing more dissapointing than my Samsonite Cruiseair Hardcase spinner, was the awful treatment I got from the Samsonit Luggage centre in Mebourne when I took it in to be replaced due to the complete failure of the case. I was told a load of bull 'airline damage' could see these cracks developing as I was using the case & wheeling it to… Read more

taxis & hotel lobbys, very very brittle shell

my samsonite warranty has turned out to be crap, they refuse to hounour their warranty on my $600 polycarbonate hard case - the most expensive & light case available in 2008, my 10 year warranty is worthless.

My case shell has cracked in several places 1.around handle base, 2. across bottom feet, 3. one wheel base collapsed 4. side edge of case cracked 5. various other shell defects.

After 2 years and around a dozen flights the case started to crack around the slide out handle.

After anothe 6 flights tiny hailing cracks started to develop randomly and the case just became brittle, the smallest knock or wheeling it over a crack in the footpath would make it visibly worse.

On my last trip to the states for a 2 week roundtrip the case started to really fall apart, I had to wrap the thing up in packing tape to hold it together.

It's no coincidece that this case is no longer available with all its faults, and the 10year warranty which is the sole reason for spending 600 bucks on a case is worthless, with samsonite representative claiming 'airline damage' they are so pig headed and this is the worst customer service I've ever had, I posted pics of my faulty samsonite case at www.samsonite.net.au , do not go near one of these cases, spend your hard earned on something better.

Not happy.

Samsonite should take my case, study the shell failure, and learn,

also i'd like my warranty honoured and a new [different] hardshell spinner case given to me as a replacement. So far...nothing.. At the beginning, it seemed light & strong, Everything shell related, catastrophic failure & terrible warraty service

Good – i loved my suitcase i went around the world with this for 9 weeks and about 16 flights and didn't have a problem with it until the last three flights, they must of put really heavy bags on top of mine in the flight and when it came off the carosel it had a crack down the front, then in the greek islands getting to our hotel a stone got caught in… Read more

one on the little wheels and now you can't use the back wheels however as it has the other two you can just pull it forward. i do however believe i was just unlucky and this is a fantastic bag when i do go overseas again i will buy another one just the same. it has the four wheels so your able to quite easily load the top up with your heavy carry on and not have to worry about being able to support the weight yourself as you can just push the bag along on all fours. small wheels can be a little tricky in tough terrain, it would be better with four monster wheels.

Excellent – I could pick on a couple of minor things, but after travelling the world twice, the first time with Tosca luggage, which fell appart by the end, and the second time with samsonite.. I will not complain. Itcan handle anything airport staff throw at it. It is very easy to manouver and does not tip over. There are some smaller compartments on the… Read more

insude, very handy. It looks great and well worth the money if you want your luggage to last you a lifetime this would have to be the strongest and sturdiest piece of luggage I have ever owned
