As noted the plastic finish of these cases scratched quite badly after just 1 trip. The cases are constructed cheaply with metal screws straight into not very robust plastic. Out of the two cases we have 1 has had the plastic plug holding the extending handle come out after the first trip and the second case lost a skid block since the metal self… Read more
tapping screws just pull straight out of the external plastic blocks. 1 star because at least the wheels are still attached and another because the zips seem robust. Also be warned a lot of people have these cases so make sure to mark your case in some way to identify it on the carousel.
Disappointing quality – Bought it 2.5 weeks ago and it’s been on one trip to Japan return. The zips are already problematic and I was worried the entire time that they’d break before I got home. Will be promptly returning it. So disappointed as I have a soft shell Samsonite that has been with me for 20 years and still going (although a little shabby). I have always… Read more
related the brand to high quality. Very frustrating. Inside is ok but could have more separate compartments. Actually feels cheap now this has occurred, and I’d never have said that about this brand years ago. Easy to pull around and is a light case but zips are breaking.

Two trips and it looks like it's 10 years old – Purchased this suitcase on the premise that Samsonite is a quality luggage brand. After its first trip overseas it arrived home so scratched it looked like it had been used for 10 years. I was disappointed, but lived with it. This year I used it for a second overseas trip, which included checking it in for 8 flights over 3.5 weeks. Apart from… Read more
coming home with broken locks (probably thanks to airline ground staff in the US), the scratches and dints alone are enough to make me want to buy something far better. Funnily enough, Samsonite's warranty doesn't cover airline damage while travelling. In other words, its warranty is completely irrelevant.
Sadly, the material this case is made from is not durable or damage resistant, but it gets a 3 star rating for ease of use because the wheels and maneuverability are very good and smooth.
As for overall quality, I'm not impressed and wouldn't recommend.

Be Warned! These suitcases are not scratch resistant! – Samsonite advertise these suitcases as “scratch resistant”. THEY ARE NOT. My 68cm suitcase is battered after one use. Buy something sturdier and a kilo or two heavier as look at the photos, they are not built to last!
Survived 2 months in Europe in good shape – I used my Samsonite Octolite spinner suitcase for 2 months travelling around Europe (plus a couple of small family trips beforehand). After nine cities, many trains and planes, quite a few cobblestone paths, and 20kgs of luggage, the suitcase is in good shape. Admittedly one of the wheels fell off. But given there were 8 it was fine (I had put… Read more · 1
if through A LOT). It survived on 7 for another 3 weeks until I got home. And Samsonite had sent me a whole set of new ones. They're super easy to swap out. I appreciated how lightweight it was. It was so easy to push around, I could do it will one hand with little effort.
The exterior still looks good even though its been through a lot. I just wipe it down and it looks as good as new. The seams are all fine. There's one tiny strip for the Samsonite label. Its all scratched up. So I reckon its come out looking better than a hard cover would under the same conditions. I would buy it again.
Overpriced crap – I brought an Oc2lite in Nov 2019, believing samsonite to be a premium brand. The suitcase scratched badly after first use. I’m DISGUSTED with the quality. Now after three trips it looks extremely tattered and worn. The plastic is extremely soft and poor quality. I travel extensively for work and was hoping the extra dollars spent meant I was… Read more
buying a premium product that would last the distance. I was wrong. My first and last samsonite purchase. I’ve had antlers in the past and regret not sticking to that brand. Far better quality and value
Small Size, Good for travelling with Kids – I heard of Samsonsite luggage not as durable as past, the wheel easy to come off. But We used it to Japan travel 5 cities at one go. We also have 75cm and 82cm Spinner LITE CUBE. The interior design pretty much standard for other Samsonsite. they have zip to divide into 2 compartments. We have no problem for this size and I think this is better… Read more
than LITE CUBE. As we have other hand carry, we would put on the top of it when manoeuvre. The wheel is pretty ok. No drama. My kid loves to push them. I doubt any big size luggages have same issues as other reviewers mention. I bought it when half price so pretty happy about it and considering buying another 55cm.
Didn’t last 12 months. Expensive for poor quality – Bought 2 of these for 6w overseas trip. Disappointed. Grey and red purchased. Both very scratched and worn looking. Fault to red hinge, only 9m old but I have to take it to Forest Hill for ‘assessment’ even though it is only 9m old and I have the receipt. Expensive and poor quality. Show details
Terrible – We purchased these 2 expensive Samonsite cases because we believed they would be top quality. How wrong were we. They have been on 2 plane trips and they look like we have had them for 10 years badly scratched everywhere and a dent which has changed the colour. We contacted Customer Services with pictures and there excuse for not doing anything… Read more
- was that they have been handled by someone else! I thought as a leading luggage maker that they would know that you don't put your own luggage on a plane and take it off again but needless to say didn't want to know. The material and design used is rubbish and as for the warranty not worth the paper its written on. We purchased a case once from KMart cost us $75 and still looks good 5 years later! Don't waste your money.
very bad customer service – It was bought from Myer and the handle was broken after the first use. Myer helped me to send it back to Samsonite for repairing but they wanted to charge me for the repair even it's still under warranty. So I requested it to be sent back to the store but it's taking ages. Still haven't received it yet. Show details
Poor custmer service – I purchased four Octolite suitcases. The cases have locks that are combination locks plus a key lock. But no keys were provided. I asked Samsonite Customer service to advise me if these cases should have a key and how do I get them. NO RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST WHISH WAS ABOUT A WEEK AGO.
