Suddenly stopped working – When it was working it was good. Then it suddenly stopped a few weeks ago. Working one moment, the next day after charging over night, nothing. The charger is used to charge other devices and they are fine. The device won't hard reset, won't respond to a charge cable insertion, won't power up after 30 seconds, tried removing and reinserting… Read more
the battery, same with the port, no signs of stickiness (that I was told indicates water damage).
Meanwhile, my even older Acer tablet is still working so there's no reason for this to fail just like that. :S
awesome – I found this model very easy to use, clear and easy instructions, good screen, has everything that i need in a tablet, phone. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for tablet but not as a mobile phone as this model is too big to carry in your pocket.
stay away from this tablet – An extremely poor product. As far as tablets go this seems like it was hurridly put together and put to market. Poor battery life. Screen is not responsive. Just very st difficult to use. I would not recommend this to anyone and regret purchasing it. Think will just give it away.
Conflicted and disappointed – While I had my tablet, I enjoyed using it. Lightweight, handy, quite powerful. Unfortunately it died within the warranty period. Sent to Samsung who responded saying it was rooted and the warranty is void. I asked how this could happen but they couldn't tell me. They did say that it can happen in several ways. There is a rooting process, or a non… Read more
Samsung authorised update could have been installed, or certain apps from the play store can root the tablet. Knowing nothing about "rooting" I looked into it and can state with absolute certainty that the tablet has not been through the rooting process. As for an app or an update how would I know?
While I thought the tablet was fantastic I am incredibly disappointed in the quality of the product (it died) and Samsung's attitude. I will certainly think twice before purchasing another Samsung product.
Takes tablet to a new level – Even for a 2 year old model, they now have the note 8.4 lte, If your looking for a biggish fast tablet with lte as a bonus, it is a sweet deal. The s pen is a great feature, the battery life is very good, very responsive and the camera is above average. If you see one new , I would suggest buy it as you will now get it for maybe a third less… Read more
than the 8.4
My only gripe would be the software on the normal s4 is more enticing, but both have different features
Call clarity is ok, the s4 a touch better, a huge keyboard is handy while texting, overall a very solid piece of hardware
Good Tablet – Both it in Armenia in summer of 2014 with 1 year warranty. Price $460. Manufacturer: Vietnam. Advantages: Acts as phone (GSM). Very good design and material. Connectivity (wifi, Bluetooth, 3g, GSM) not excellent but at high level. Both cameras are quite good. Display (not FullHD) quality not as sharp as for example in Samsung GALAXY Note 3… Read more
(FullHD) but quite good.
CPU, RAM, Graphics performance are on high level.
Disadvantages:
Response of Touch Screen a bit slow, but you won't notice unless try IPAD.
Battery life below medium. Dies after 1 day of average usage: 1 hour gaming, few hours internet, calling, 1 hour reading with medium screen brightness.
No radio (only via wifi)
No flashlight.
Sometimes gets overheated even at web browsing (without covers or cases)
Advice:
Avoid buying extra SD card, buy tablet with high built-in memory.
Great tablet – Pro's - Having owned a larger 10" tablet before I can say the 8" form factor is a vast improvement. It is much lighter and easier to hold and you only require one hand. - S pen handwriting works well. - Unit is fast and responsive with no lag. - Screen is crisp and clear and auto screen brightness adjustment is good, especially for reading in… Read more
low light.
Con's
- You cannot change the default app layout at the bottom of the screen, you are stuck with the generic Email, Snote Splanner, Internet, Settings and Apps buttons and there is no way to replace these with other apps.
- No way to create your own templates for Snote which is rather pointless. Also you can only export as text or PDF there is no MS word or Google docs integration.
- It takes a very long time to charge the battery (hours not minutes). Size, S-pen, performance Slow to charge, S-note lacks functionality, Locked apps on screen
love my tablet – Ever since purchasing my samsung tablet I have had lots of joy and fun surfing the net with ease. Its more simpler then a pc or laptop for the recreational use I get of it. I find its a handy tool for fast referencing. The tablet runs fast, the screen clear, the programs reliable
Good tablet, lacking some of today's features – I had to buy my Note 8 from overseas as they did not sell the 3G version in Australia which I really wanted to make it useful for work/travelling purposes. All round I think this is a good tablet, I much prefer android over apple to useability, I can plug it into the computer and easily drag and drop files, delete etc. It also works really well… Read more

The only thing I have found, since having a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone, is simple things like screen mirroring are not available. The Camera is not as good as the S4 and neither is the Swype. I download google Swype which I found to be so much better. I've had a few small syncing issues with the Note 8, and both Samsung's have some small notification settings that you don't seem to be able to change.
That all sounds negative, but outside of these small issues, the Samsung Note 8 has been a great tablet. Perfect replacement for a Diary, good size, love the handwriting etc. Size, usability, stylus, No screen mirroring, small syncing issues
Brilliant Organiser – I loved this tablet! It did everything I wanted it to do and more!! Battery life great! The size is a great size to hold in your hand .. Was a tad big for my handbag. Loved the stylus and being able to write things instead of having to use a keyboard all the time. Really is a fab product!! Show reply
Little Gem – I bought this primarily for travelling, something I can put into my backpack, download photos onto, and write travel blogs, as well as email and browsing. But as I become familiar with Android and the multitude of apps, it has come to replace my Windows 8.1 ultrabook for all but complex spreadsheet work. For about $290 after cashback, it has far… Read more
exceeded my expectations. Size is perfect and the screen brilliant. No more Kindle. Size, screen, inexpensive Nothing
Perfect organiser – Allows me to draw as if I'm using a real pen. Because its mimics the writing material I can use from soft pencil, crayons to pens. I can even choose the thickness of the pen point. The pen uses some kind of magnet and detects pressure so it can do really good strokes. With its quad core processor this tablet hardly crashes and is my perfect… Read more
organiser that I use at work. I use it in meetings to take notes, I download apps and use this to keep track of my schedule and tasks at work. I don't often use it at home but I found it useful to keep track of shopping lists or even an idea of what I want to build. Helps me draw up what I want to build so I can decide what to buy at bunnings.
I let my cousins kid play with it and she can happily draw pictures or even decide to change her own hair colour. Perfect item for kids and adults. Comes with apps to even let you modify/create microsoft word and excel documents.
Keep in mind it is a tablet running on android so its power and ability can not be exactly what a windows PC can do.
Be very careful, because of its 8.0" size I end up having to see a doctor because my left arm hurt. I later realized it started because I spent too many hours holding it. I had a 7" ASUS tablet before I bought this. But the 7" tablet broke within a month. The 7" tablet was slower and I can hold it comfortably. When it died I decided to spend money on something stronger. I chose the galaxy tab3 but returned it for the note 8.0 when I learnt it had a stronger processor. The extra money was worth it but because of its 8" size I was not able to hold it comfortably. With a case I had to hold it in an uncomfortable position for too many hours and I end up with a sore arm. handy S-pen, strong processor, great screen resolution some things just won't work on mobile devices such as certain youtube videos, certain websites, certain things that you want to download. This can not replace my PC. 8" size doesn't fit in my arm/hand properly
My new bestie – My intention was to use a tablet for my building businessI struggled with the iPad because of its lack of user control. I could have had an App written but the cost for my one man band would be prohibitive. The alternate Android offerings were thick on the ground, and the Samsung Note tablets stood out because of the captive stylus. After a… Read more
test drive in the store I was sold on the Note, but then stubbled with a 10 or 8 inch
I went with the 8in, and Im glad I did. It fits perfectly in one hand and is the best compromise for me between size and function. The 10in would of course be better and easier to write to, but incredibly inconvenient to carry around on site etc because its definitely a 2 handed machine.
I have the 3G version which adds the ability to access the internet, and emails etc, send invoices etc. Oddly the 8 inch (not the 10 Inch) is usable as a phone; it has all the phone function of my Galaxy S3. Bit embarrassing to use, buy hey, in a pinch ????
The captive stylus is nothing short of amazing. It does pretty much everything a pen note pad can do, and the Note includes the ability to use typed fonts as well in lieu of the stylus. I can draw plans and type invoices directly, then print the plans and email the invoices. The stylus is pressure sensitive like a real pen i.e. the harder you push the thinking and stronger the line. The is a selection of "styles" for the stylus i.e. pencil, brush and pen etc. The style selected can be so fine that when used lightly, the resulting lines are difficult to see. An eraser deletes the added content whilst leaving the template data in tack i.e. you can erase the contents of a invoice, whilst the invoice itself remains.
Searching Google for images drawn with the Galaxy Note will amaze you, with the detail that this machine offers via the stylus. It is no comparison to the thick rubber thumb type sticks that are available for the iPads etc
The Note comes with "S Note" which is the fundamental use function of the stylus (although plenty of other Apps us the stylus). S Note unfortunately comes with a list of limited and somewhat idiotic templates, but frustratingly doesn't allow for user created templates which simply defies logic. My analogy would be buying a Ferrari only to discover 2 of the spark plugs have been removed and the holes welded over. The magnificent machine artificially and stupidly hobbled.
There are only so many, recipes, birthday cards, and magazines I want to create
The up side is you can create a "template" in Word, or Photoshop or whatever, save it as a PDF and import that PDF directly into S Note. The only consideration is that when you use it you have remember to "save as" in order to preserve the original "template" in tack, or loose the empty template as it save over the top. A silly oversight that needs to be addressed in order to make a hobbled device the perfect device.
The "templates" you can create are only limited by your imagination, and they can contain as many pages as you like, or be all individual pages.
I have a complete "template" which has 10 pages including Order Details, Plans, Notes, Material List, Purchase Order and Invoice .... and it saves a one simply file. You can also add bland pages to the template as required. Photos can be taken with the template and added to the photo page, and notes written over the photos with the stylus. I limited the invoice to on the spot invoices which I replicate in my accounting software, but its handy when you need it. In the invoice page you can revert to typed text and not use the stylus for a more professional look.
The stylus is incredibly accurate and easy and comfortable to use and there text recognition which is very accurate.
S Note activates when the captive stylus is pulled from its hiding place.
Battery is good enough to last all day, and I can literally have it active all day.
I haven't addressed the basic Android function because thats not why I have it. It does what all the other Android tablets do .... it the unique features of this machine which sets it above
Its an expensive machine when compared to the other offerings available. There are better machine around which are cheaper. But if you have a genuine need for the abilities of the the stylus like I have, I'm reluctantly happy to pay the premium because the stylus is priceless. S Note and the captive stylus kill the other tablets Expensive and the lack of user created templates

Handy small tablet – It has been an excellent purchase because of its light weight and pen. Readers Hub app is very useful for reading ebooks. Reading mode is handy too. I have had no issue with it so far & is good for surfing web, watching videos, reading etc all the stuff you wanna do on tablet. My favorite is 'multi-screen' feature allows you to view 2 windows… Read more

S Pen: I just can't stop using it, great for taking notes and tapping on tiny links without need to zoom in.
Battery life isn't very impressive and it hardly lasts for 2 days.
I found that 10" tablets were really bulky therefore I went with this one and my requirements have been satisfied.
In conclusion, I like my Note 8 very much and would recommend it for those who don't want to go with 10" tablets. S-Pen, unique Features such as multi-view, smart stay, reading mode etc. Battery life is less for this small size tablet.
sort of good – After upgrading my android to official samsung android 4.2.2, touch screen started to not function a bit. Also even before upgrading my android, there was some issues with smart stay. It won't work! I stare at the camera and says "smart stay cannot detect your eyes". Very disappointing. Also the back of my tablet has a massive load of scratches… Read more · 1
and soon needs a replacement. Only 1 month of usage. very fast, pen input, more than 2 days of usage. expensive, smart stay errors, screen malfunctions a bit
Best mid sized tablet on the market – It feels [censored word removed] nice in the hands, fairly lightweight, looks great, awesome screen. The S pen functionality is so good and I cant understand why something like that isn't standard for all tablets, works well. It is noticeably quick as well. I own the Galaxy s3 phone, and I feel the note 8 performs things noticably faster,… Read more
multitasks flawlessly and is very intuitive as most Samsung android devices are.
Smart stay is also something I've only really noticed since using this tablet, never used it on my phone as I don't really look at things for extended periods of time on the phone, but on the tablet it proves very worthwhile when browsing the net, reading an article etc. S pen, speed, smart stay. A little bit pricey
