Died a quick death – This Samsung replaced another Samsung we had under warranty. We didnt get the extended warranty this time but we should have. The TV just died one morning without warning after 3 years. It's been dead awhile but only have gotten around to writing a review. So this is the second Samsung TV we have had to not live very long. Have since moved over to… Read more
Sony with built in AndroidTV and haven't been happier.
The Samsung apps stopped working. The smarthub didn't function well and apps were not supported (No updates). A work around was to buy a Chromecast. Speakers were completely useless.
I wouldn't recommend a Samsung TV to anybody that wants something to last well into the future. My brother still has his 32" Sony Bravia LCD TV that's about 10 years old and has not had one issue with it.
Only Lasted for 4 Years – Our 4 year old Samsung just died, surely you can expect a greater lifespan than this. It was an OK TV, but not very smart, we kept loosing of the main screen the Apps we most frequently used.. Tried to ring Samsung but they were too busy to my call! ADDITION Managed to get in touch with Samsung they came out and fixed our TV free of charge so I changed my rating. Show details
Don't buy Samsung TV without extended warranty, panel needs to be replaced after 2 or 3 years – Initially everything looks good but after 2 or 3 years some issues starts to occur. I was using samsung ua32f5500 for 2.5 years and suddenly one day the TV went off and no display or sound. Samsung official repair person in Kerala from there office near south overbridge came and just for attending the issue they charged 600 and the company… Read more
representative told me that you might have washed the TV coz there were water traces, I asked him will some one clean TV like a car wash! He said some bla bla and told me that the panel need to be replaced which costs around 16000. I didn't do the repair with Samsung and hired Brightech lap services near north railway station next to bpcl petrol pump and they could do the job with 4600! When I googled I could see there were many complaints regarding the sudden shut down of Samsung TVs. I bought the TV for 43k rupees. Beware not to buy Samsung tvs unless you plan to extend its warranty to max period else you will be a sasi!!!
I like it – This is a very nice smart TV, some of the big benefits are: 1. You can connect a usb hard drive and use the tv to record- you can program it from the guide and it records while its on standby mode. Also, you can pause and then fast forward live tv like a pvr. Very nice, really happy with this feature. Really puts it above other tvs. 2. The smart… Read more
functions are very good and work well, you tube and for nz, tvnz and channel3. Pandora also works really well for streaming music. The smart functions, usability and reliability of them really puts the tv above others also. You can even download more aps so its quite like a smart phone tv, I have a friend with a panasonic smart tv
3. Picture quality is quite good, but whites and bright scenes/areas can sometimes seem a bit glaring and washed out. Not noticeable unless you are inspecting the picture consciously.
4 For me was a great price since this model is almost obsolete.
5. I didnt get any ads like another reviewer complained about.
6. plays more video files than my old sony tv
Some cons,
1. only 1 usb slot will play video from your usb stick/HDD, best thing to do is partition your HDD so you can record to one partition (which your computer cant read since the tv formats its own unreadable format) and then copy your own video files to the other partition to play.
2. My tv broke down after 1 week, with dead pixels horizontally across the screen, reliability may be a bit average. was fixed under warranty no problem with a new lcd panel, hope it lasts
Also, if you do have a breakdown, try calling samsung at different times of day, I called at 8pm NZ time and got some goofball that could barely speak English and didnt really resolve my issue, may have been malaysia or somewhere. Called again at 6am and got maybe US call centre which could speak english and was very helpful and sorted out a service call. Excellent recording function and smart functions Broke down after 1 week- black lines across screen but fixed quickly under warranty (within 1 week)
Banner Ads kill this tv – I bought this tv a couple of months ago. After a while, banner ads started appearing. First for World War Z and then for Foxtel. I searched through all the options, but there was nothing. A call to Samsung said that there was no way to disable them, that banner ads were a feature of Smart TVs. The banner ads come up whether I am watching tv,… Read more
dvd, home theatre.
The tv was not cheap, I don't expect Samsung to be making more money while annoying me.
I will be trying to return this tv, otherwise I will just give it away. Picture is good. The Banner ads that cannot be turned off. The sound is not great.
Perfect small TV – I purchased this TV to replace an older plasma. It is a great TV for a small living area or bedroom, the remote is simple and logically laid out, the setup process works well. Streaming media from a PC or DLNA server via wifi is very quick - this was the main reason I purchased the TV and am very satisfied. The only downside is the YouTube… Read more
application which is included with the TV, it is slow (it can take 3-4 minutes to load even though my Internet connection is sync'd at 12mbps), clunky with too many navigation categories in the menu and prone to crash. Aside from the YouTube app (which Samsung may fix with a software update) this TV is excellent, especially for wireless streaming. Looks, wifi streaming, great interface, easy to use, nice remote. YouTube app crashes.
