Almost perfect! – The actual tablet is fantastic. It does everything I want. Not a big fan of some of the Samsung apps which try to take over but I guess you get that with any tablet. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the keyboard case. It cost nearly $200 and am still gobsmacked that it uses double sided tape! I noticed the tab 7 has the same… Read more ·  1

design. With the keyboard being separate from the case and attaching magnetically, it always comes off or you have to remove it to use as a tablet otherwise you're always hitting keys. Without the keyboard the screen has no protection, so I ended up removing the case and buying another. Unfortunately when I do need the keyboard now I can't use the case as the tape is now ruined.

I also have the tab 3 which has a keyboard case which was all 1 peice and in my opinion, much easier to use.

Worst customer service I have encountered – I have a S6 128gb that I purchased direct from Samsung online on 26th march 20 About 2 months back, after shutting the fully charged tablet down of a night, the following day the battery was flat. Plugging in the charger the tablet would auto boot to the Android Recovery Menu, selecting restart it would then boot normally. This was random… Read more

happening every now and again.

I reset the tablet to factory numerous times, however, the issue continued on an ad-hoc basis.

About two weeks ago I got sick of it and after a month of too and fro with samsung's call center/chat, I sent it back to Samsung for repairs.

I received it back "repaired" with a note saying that the software had been updated, mind you it was the latest software when I sent it to them.

The "repaired" tablet had been returned with a filthy screen and the battery was discharged.

I cleaned and fully charged the unit, then installed the same google play apps as before (I also have these same apps on a samsung phone and an old tablet without issues). Also, the unit prompted me to upgrade it, seems samsung rolled back the firmware?

With the unit being fully charged I turned it off, the following morning I opened the samsung keyboard case and saw that the screen was on the Android Recovery Menu, there was only 3% battery charge showing.

It was the same, nothing had been fixed.

So I return it again, this time asking for a refund.

Here is the email they sent me.

Thank you for your email.

Our authorised service centre has now had the opportunity to assess your Samsung device.

The technician’s assessment confirmed your Samsung device was operating within the manufacturer’s specifications.

As a result, we do not believe you are currently entitled to a remedy under either Samsung’s express manufacturer’s warranty or the Australian Consumer Law consumer guarantees.

Unfortunately, we are unable to approve your request at this point in time.

Due to this finding, our service centre is required to send your device and accessories back to you with a copy of the Job Report.

This will be sent back to your home address;

Nothing in this email is intended to limit or restrict your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Thank you for your time with Samsung.

Once again Samsung are not even attempting to solve the issue and consumer affairs SA tell me that Samsung can play this game forever as with the exception of going to Court there is no remedy if Samsung refuse to acknowledge a fault. I was even told by Consumer Affairs if I paid for a third party to examine and report on the issue, samsung may dismiss the report giving numerous excuses. Seems that I now have a $1000.00 boat anchor except it wouldn't even be good for that!

After pointing out a few facts to Samsung ie: did they test with any Google Play apps installed, I am told they only tested it with the supplied apps and were unable to replicate the problem, mind you they only had it for two days.

Trying to blame google play apps for the issue, therefore I must say that apps DO NOT WORK SMOOTHLY on this tablet. When it did work it was good enough for my needs, however, finding the battery fully discharged every few days meant my needs were not met.

Samsung’s iPad is beautiful but not perfect – The Tab S6 is fast, beautiful, and capable of so much. Whether it be games, watching videos, or even listening to music, the display and speakers are ridiculously amazing. But due to the lack of 120hz refresh rate that iPad Pro has, this tablet is not great value for money, and that is exacerbated by the fact that Android tablet apps are not as… Read more ·  1

optimised as iPad apps. You can still edit photos, videos, documents, and multitask, but you still won’t have as good of an experience as you would with an iPad Pro due to the optimisation of the iPad. If you have a non-Apple phone, this tablet (and the Tab S7 after it) are the best tablets you could possibly buy, but if you have an iPhone, don’t even think about it.

Great device – Great device, looks great and the screen quality is amazing. I actually prefer this to the new iPad pros. Solid construction and small screen beazels make it a good looking device. Performs well and has no issue playing 4k content. Show details ·  1

Probably the best android tablet on the market – In the past I really liked Samsung as a brand. I had all Samsung - Phone, Tablet and watch. Times changed. In some fields Samsung isn't doing as good as their competition. This was most evident in tablet space. I had an original Tab S, which was a fantastic tablet. When it started to slow down I got Tab S2 which was pure disappointment. Then Tab… Read more ·  1

S4 came along, neither specs or price were right... until I almost gave up and unexpectedly Samsung released Tab S6 with very decent specs and the right introductory price. I got one. I'm not the guy who goes over the specs and assumes that the tablet will be great based on it. Samsung has already proven me wrong many times. However, Tab S6 just does everything well. I have it for a year now. For the first time ever I noticed no slow downs after a year! Wow, that is definitely a game changer for Samsung devices. The screen is always the best on Samsung devices, the Tab S6 is not an exception. In addition they included S pen as part of the package - very nice. I use it rarely, but when I do, if I wouldn't have it, I'd miss it. Under the screen fingerprint worked very well and much faster than my better specced phone (S10+). Battery life is phenomenal. I never felt like they could have done a better job without compromising the size of the tablet. Speaking of size. It is thin and pretty slick. Sound is superb! Cameras are totally adequate for the tablet. The only thing I don't like is Samsung's attitude towards tablets from a software updates perspective. It is a premium device and should have the same update policy as premium phones - once a month. Instead, their policy for tablets is one update per quarter, unless there is an emergency patch. All in all I love the tablet and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, even apple people :-) I did a brief video review that I've attached below, hope it helps.

Great, even better than I initially thought – Galaxy tab S6 was released early this year and with a need for a fast and reliable tablet, I opted for purchasing this model. It runs on latest android software and has an s-pen included. Great touch feedback and very light due to being made out of a thin aluminium frame so light on the backpack if taking it to work or school. Best Samsung tablet in the market by far Show reply

Very good tablet, pen good but the week spot – Bought the tablet for work, as I take a lot of notes during meeting and need to check info while presenting on my laptop. It has been an amazing for taking notes and to be able search my notes, even in my hand writing. For the over all price I would expect a better pen. It's good, but well below Microsoft's or Apples' quality. Show reply

Utter DUD of all tablets designed by Samsung – Upon initial purchase, I was delighted with the visual design and screen size. However, there were charging issues and DEX app keeps loading all by itself. Being a brand new top of the range tablet, you would not expect such issues in its early life from the box. Furthermore, having it sent back to Samsung for repairs numerous times to be told… Read more

High Quality Tablet – A high quality tablet. Screen quality and sound makes it fantastic to watch movies on. Processor and memory can handle all apps and games easily. The S Pen is good to use when precision is required. Biggest downside is that it does not have a headphone jack. The price is a little high unless you want to use the tablet for work purposes, when the optional keyboard is almost a necessity Show details ·  1

Samsung should've paid more attention to DeX – I bought the Tab S6 as a replacement for the Surface Go as I was experiencing very poor battery life with the latter. I wanted something that would last all day (as I use the S6 at uni), and portable as I'd be lugging it around all day in my backpack. Before making a decision, I needed to ensure that the Tab S6 had proper external monitor support,… Read more ·  1

and you could change where the audio is playing from when connected to said external display. Needless to say it achieves both, but Dex functionality appears limited. For example, it doesn't have true extended desktop support (like Windows, ChromeOS or MacOS) as the tablet screen will blur out when you're typing something on the monitor (this makes it hard to view a lecture, and take notes for example).

The battery life, thankfully, is amazing. It lasts all day, provided I'm not using it constantly (like I do at home as it's my primary computing device). As I said, the Surface Go I owned before this had very poor battery life (2 hours max), which wouldn't have been suitable for uni. Luckily, the Tab S6 delivers in this respect.

Another downfall is the lack of software updates. While Samsung has risen to the challenge with their flagship phones and delivered software updates in a timely manner, the same cannot be said about their flagship tablet. When I bought this device in late February, it was still on Android 9 (One UI 1.x) with the December security patch, while my Galaxy S10E had the most recent firmware installed. I think this is unacceptable for a tablet that costs over $1000, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's a dealbreaker. It's just disappointing.

The inclusion of the S Pen is a welcome addition. I was expecting to have to pay extra like you do with the Apple Pencil, but no, it's included in the box.

Now for the keyboard (which is a seperate purchase of $199). Let's just say it's great when it works. There are times when it disconnects, but this is fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard again (i.e. physically disconnecting and reconnecting it). This is a great shame considering Samsung's offering is currently the only keyboard for the Tab S6 on the market (you can buy standalone Bluetooth keyboards, but there aren't currently any keyboard cases besides Samsung's).

Samsung is clearly marketing the Tab S6 towards those who want to replace their PC. Can it achieve this? I'd honestly like to say yes, but there's more to it. I would say that you could only replace your primary computing device with the Tab S6 if your needs are very limited (e.g. consuming media and emails). It's lack of true extended monitor support is frustrating, and leaves me wishing I had've purchased a windows 2-in-1 instead.

A good tablet let down by it's limited functionality – I got this in place of an iPad for my son but simple things like auto brightness, and customisation options you'd get within a standard Samsung phone aren't there. They don't have auto brightness on their S6 tablet either. The screen size is strange, too narrow and long for the width. It's good enough for the basic needs of my son but wouldn't be… Read more ·  1

Good but one minor issue – I upgraded to this from the tab s3. It has a smooth processer and good battery life and good speakers. The only gripe I have with it is I don't find it very usable unless I have it on the side view because of the shape Show reply

Fantastic!! With 1 flaw – I use my tablet in place of a phone. I use it for house hold budgets, paying bills, sending emails, taking photos, social media, internet/online shopping, games and so on. I had 2 x of the s2 tablets..both wifi only. The first one (white) I dropped in water...but it came back to life after I already got the 2nd one (black). Around xmas 2019 a few… Read more ·  1

weeks ago my newer black s2 tab just wouldnt charge anymore...any cord I tried to use ended up being dead, my pc wouldnt read it anymore etc...totally dead and massively corrupted, no idea how. The funny thing is, the white one that went swimming is still all good but taped back together after hubby had to open it to dry it...so it was time for an upgrade. The white one is about 4 year old, the black about 2 years..go figure... I was tossing up between going ipad or staying with samsung...i devided the samsung was the go and Im super happy..a little disappointed i could only get blue and not pink though..but i got a pink case..its a non issue really.

The 2 things that have annoyed me are 1.Microsoft excel isnt free anymore as the screen size is over 10.1 inches...not samsungs fault but still annoying to lose out over 0.4 of an inch.

The second thing and by far the most annoying is the bloody S pen...great idea in theory but it practically works with nothing and every time I pick the tablet up it either falls off or goes flying...I hate the s pen!! I would much prefer a cheaper option without the s pen and its accessories.

The tablet is great though...just ditch the s pen

Do not purchase . First time ever I have said this – Dear Product Reviewers. This is a follow up to our experience below and Samsungs Official response. You can see from entries below a private message requesting our contact details were requested and provided. In the context of our experience outlined below , this is Samsungs response to us. We cannot locate either the details of your contacts, or… Read more

your official follow up survey Samsung requested from you. What we need you to do is after wasting so many hours with our technicians and surveys and with me ( Samsung Media Representative) is to hop into your car, drive 15 kilometres over to Mount Gravatt, why, because you are not permitted to ring them directly and ask to fill in a customer complaint form. Leave that with them, return home as some time in the future you will be contacted by a resolution person whom then will contact you.

As I said before samsung.....You are in a very bad place and I would not only not recommend this product, I have to say that your after purchase support is the worst of any product/service provider that I have experienced in my 60 years . Your techs do not know your products. Your techs don't call back when they say they will. Your techs tell us things that are untrue.

Now you add injury to insult with such a rediculous proposition. Why. Because there is only about 3 samsung stand alone kiosks in brisbane and you will not allow your customers to either email or phone them, you ask two disabled customers to come to you after you and your internal processes identify how little regard you have for us as customers. You asked for our phone number and email. We provided it. Total farce.

2 hours with Samsung Technician on live chat. 1.5 hours on phone with remote assistance. I hour with JB manager The unit is disfunctional by flawed design. Basic function flawed. You can create a file but you cant direct content into it. There is no pathway to copy and or redirect content into a file that you create. No way to take content and copy or transfer that file or content into the SD Storage from Internal Storage and visa versa. You can not even screenshot and send it to a created file such as receipes from the web into a file that you are allowed to create. Its a mess. Our Samsung 10.1 which is at least 7 or 8 years old has better basic function. Samsung technician could not find her way either with smart tutor remote. I watched as time after time she failed to make a file and copy or transfer the content. Eventually and without my knowledge ( I only found out today) she isolated the internal storage of 256 g and now everything is solely stored on the SD Card. When I asked her to show me basic copy and transfer of content to created files she couldn't. She hit the same walls as everyone else. In the end and after about 15 failures she gave up and said we were experiencing internet problems. We were not on our side. She has promised to ring back tonight at 7.00 pm to explain wht she says can be done, but in reality she was unable to do. Took it to JB and eventually he frustratedly said bring it back in and get your money back. He spent an hour on it and it was enough for him. So tomorrow we get our $1, 400 refunded. Its a shame that Samsung is in decline. Top of the range Smart T.V had to be returned, USB function inoperative. We had the same update contamination on Samsung S8 phone. Now a product not fit for sale. Not fit for purpose with fundamental design faults. I am 60 years of age and I hold this product review in high regard, so when I say to my fellow consumers to stay away from this product until they (Samsung) sell only products they can fix themselves and sell fit for purpose, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND HOURS AND HOURS OF TIME ONLY HAVING TO TAKE IT BACK.

Samsung failed to call on either phone last night as they arranged as they said they would. We took the Galaxy Tablet S6 back to store today to obtain a refund as previously mentioned. Another JB HiFi person looked at the unit and was able to clearly illustrate the methodology of transferring content to files and between files. We are giving the S6 Tablet another chance. However Samsung, you need to teach your own technicians operating procedures so customers are not mislead or mistreated. You should always meet your commitments. We will give another assessment in 6 weeks time.
