Worst ever. Two different HD failed – DO NOT buy Seagate hard drives. I had two of them failed for no reason at all. One was 2TB and another one was 3TB. I had "backup" on my 2TB drive and then redundancy backup on my 3TB drive. BOTH failed within a week. Lost all data. Family friend also had one of them failed. Google is your friend, seagate has more HD failures than ALL other manufacturers combined. Show details

Disappointed :( – I do weekly backups with external drives. Unfortunately I've noticed that my Toshiba and WD drives have been far more reliable. The warranty process has been really easy and accommodating but you lose trust with the "recertified" drives they send back. The drives that come from China are particularly prone to faults -- and this is all with drives… Read more

that simply sit in an air conditioned office on a desk for a small amount of data transfers every week.

Awesome product at a great price – I use this as a external hard drive for my Xbox one. I have had no issues with any save data at all. It is a straight up plug and play unit and does the job well. I will happily buy another one for my computer when I need the storage!  Show details

4TB Backup Plus drive starting to fail now – This a revised review, actually I did start experiencing some problems, I bought two of these, one of them started to intermittently detach from the computer, so I opened it up and it is actually a samsung 4TB drive inside, the problem is the USB 3.0 interface to SATA board within the housing, after a few mins, it must get a little hot and starts… Read more

failing (you might get 5min use before it fails). Then let it cool down for several mins and then you can reattach again for several mins usage.

If you plug the hard drive directly to motherboard sata connections it works fine. So the actual hard drive is fine, but the little USB to Sata inteface is the faulty part of the electronics.

I would wait for the next improved model.

Do not bother – 3GB model. It froze and I lost all my data within 2 months of buying it. Seagate do a straight swap under warranty, but like I want the same faulty model. A google search found a report indicating that 40% of sold items failed in 2014. Data recovery looks to cost $220 up to $1300 AUD through seagate and warranty is voided if i take it to anyone… Read more

else. Way to scam me out of further money for your faulty products Seagate. You should be disgusted with yourselves.
