Worked out great, just isn't designed for longevity – So I have had this for about 2 years now. At the time I was travelling Australia and needed something that I could charge and use with my android tablet, while travelling on long bus journeys for watching movies, uploading photos and videos, etc. For which it worked reasonably well, few issues with connections and backup failures, but nothing majorly inconvenient. Fast forward 18 months and my partner and I have our own apartment and smart TV, so I wanted to use it as shared network storage for all devices on the network could access. So I leave it permanently connected to the mains charger for it to be effective I know this isn't strictly good for any battery discharging cycle, but its utility had changed for something I thought it would be able to handle. Any way a few weeks go by and this thing all of a sudden starts physically spinning on it's own and making a horrible buzzing noise, like a mini chainsaw.

Turns out that these things get hot... very hot and with out any sort of adequate cooling system they tend to pop. This thing now looks permanently pregnant due to the expansion and melting and softening inner hdd and the outer case, which cannot be removed. It still has all functionality but after 5 minutes the noise this thing makes is deafening and if the noise is the hdd clipping the outer casing, then it will only be a matter of time before the motor fails and that will be that.

Nice idea, but needs refining.

Purchased in for $200.

Do not buy this! – The battery life is useless. I lost 7% of battery life during the writing of this review (seriously) The on/off switch works every second attempt Software keeps crashing and the restart becomes a standard task The manual presumes that one has a detailed technical knowledge. As a mac user, I simply do not want to become an engineer

Watch out for their scam method! – I've bought 4 Seagates now. 3 have broken down. Last one (Wireless Plus) was performing OK until it decided to do its own partitioning & could no longer be accessed on my computer. This is a scam virus that Seagate initiates to get you to buy their File Recovery Software (about $100).

Great idea, streams well but could have better functionality – Purchased for the sole intent as a media server/NAS for the car. Streams video very well to our Android tablets. Unfortunately, when your turn it on,it takes up to 15mins for the content on the drive to be visible on the network. A handy feature would be an auto-on function when it is connected to a USB socket in the car. As it is, the drive isn't hidden away in the car because it needs to be manually turned on

Did not live up to expectations – I bought this expecting (a) wireless storage for my iPad (b) back up for my MacAir (c) sync with my Dropbox. (a) was fine though a bit slow, but handy nevertheless (b) was ok using the included USB cable (c) was absolutely frustrating as connecting to the internet was hit and miss. After 1 afternoon, I have yet to be able to connect for long enough to set up syncing with DropBox. However, it works with both PCs and Macs which is a huge plus. Wireless. Easy to set up out of the box. Wall charger comes complete with different plugs for travel. Unit was heavier than I expected. Difficult to connect & remain connected to the internet. Wall plug feels brittle. Overall design is a poor match to the elegance of Apple products.
