Hazardous. As the seller provides no communication option re supply of Hazardous products, this info must be communicated here— When seresto "upgraded" these collars to longer-lasting effectiveness, our dog (who'd previously worn the original seresto collars) developed a massive itch that turned into a huge welt. We didn't necessarily associate… Read more

this with the new-version collar – until the second replacement, when the same suffering recurred. The vet bill for this was $300 – & the dog will now need future protection to be applied regularly by the vet. Let's see whether either company steps forward to 1/ deal with the Hazard! 2/ refund the costs of these "upgraded" collars 3/ advise customers past & future of the product Hazard.

Seresto unreliable for ticks – HAve used for years and had no problems. But 6 weeks in to his new collar the dog got paralysis from a tick and was hospitalised. And this was a genuine Seresto bought from a veterinary supply place. I will switch the dog to Bravecto Quantum - the new yearly injectable - but not sure what to do about the cats. No good having a product which… Read more

doesn't work even when it is new. Interestingly the Vet hospital said they are seeing a *lot* of animals with Serestos presenting with paralysis. They do not receommend them based on what they see.

This collar does not work for fleas – I bought 1 large dog and two cat collars three weeks ago, put them on my pets as instructed and flea problem got continually worse. I just bought nextstar topical treatment two days ago and it is working. Threw $221 of collars in the trash. Show details

Did not protect and my dog died – I'm gutted. I trusted that using this product would protect my boy. It ultimately did not. The collar was replaced each time within the 4 month window, never bathed or swam with the collar. The product is advertised to repel and kill a paralysis tick. He had a tick on his inner ear which was not found by myself or the vet and the tick continued to… Read more

Still Got a Tick!! – After purchasing a less expensive flea and tick treatment & my pet got a tick. The vet office personnel told me “ you get what you pay for & suggested seresto. On the 6th month of the collar I removed a huge tick on my dog. I researched seresto only to find the recall & complaints listed. When I contacted Bayer for an explanation, they denied any recalls & were very nasty people the way that they talked to me. Heads up, buyer beware!! Show details

Ensure you purchase the genuine collar – Just to let everyone know, for the last 3 years (maybe more?) there has been non-genuine counterfeit) Seresto collars being sold in most countries. These copies are definitely here in Australia. The packaging is very cunning and close to the original. The main difference we spotted was that there was no expiry date, and the printing font is… Read more

different to the genuine, but still very difficult to spot for most people. They are also much less expensive (around half) than the original ($20-$30 instead of $40-$60). They are very commonly sold online and in the early days they were (unknowing) sold from a number of unsuspecting reputable sellers. What is known is that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized multiple shipments of counterfeit collars from mainland China and Hong Kong. They warned the public that fake collars "may consist of harmful ingredients that may sicken your pet, or they may cause chemical burns or hair loss." So I can quite believe many of the posts previously submitted to this product review site. We ourselves have to date found the genuine collars perform well and had no incidents of tick paralysis in our dogs and we live in a high paralysis tick region ( northern NSW). I have attached a photo of the genuine one. Just thought this may be useful to everyone.

UPDATE 6/2022 The flood of counterfeit / fake collars continue to be sold from online sellers (They are here, in NZ, UK, USA everywhere) but they are now being made more cleverly to look like the genuine ones and it is getting difficult to distinguish. They now have exp dates & batch numbers (like the genuine ones) and packaging almost impossible to tell apart. Furthermore, the sellers are aware that suspicion is raised when they sell them at a dramatically cheap price ($<45) so are now selling them just below the normal price of the genuine ones (above $50) so as to not arise too much suspicion, ie they are getting smarter and smarter. They are just about 100% sold online, there is no doubt they don't work (no protection fleas/ ticks) and what ever product the counterfeiters have impregnated them with, can cause toxic reactions, some of these can be v v serious. There are quite a few websites available now that go through and help consumers identify fake (dangerous) from genuine. There are paralysis ticks everywhere in our region and so far for both our cats and dogs, they have received excellent protection from paralysis ticks and fleas with no breeches to date (5-6 years of use maybe longer). So for us, to date the genuine one seems very effective in our area where there are frequent tick paralysis illness. I certainly feel for those who have purchased the counterfeit ones and the consequences look tragic.

Best prevention for paralysis ticks and does fleas – I have lost a dog to tick paralysis before so I am very cautious of ticks, I have also spent the past 2 years with my 2 cavoodles working on a job (my dogs come to work with me) that backs onto bushland in an area where paralysis ticks are a real problem. I have been using the seresto collars for the 2 years I’ve had my dogs in this area and have… Read more

not had a single tick! I have also not had any problems with fleas. I like the fact that my dogs can also swim with the collars and the collars don’t smell at all, I even let them sleep in our bed which I wouldn’t do if the collars stunk like some other flea/tick collars I’ve experienced. It says the seresto collars last 4 months for tick prevention but I replace every 3 to be extra safe as my dogs swim a lot too (it does say swimming is okay though) I haven’t had any issues with skin reactions or sickness like I’ve seen some people saying in the reviews which is weird as I have met so many people now using the seresto collars and never heard of a single person that has had issues with the collar causing any problems everyone I’ve met that uses them raves about them. I suspect it’s like the naturopathic extremist/anti vax brigade bombarding the reviews with mis information because it seems to go against everything I have seen and heard. I asked my vet prior to using too and she said she has not seen any dogs have issues. It is also my understanding that seresto collars are the only treatment that actually repels ticks most other treatments rely on the tick biting the dog for it to work and can sometimes take hours before the tick dies and by then the tick may have been on long enough to cause the dog to get sick. I was using nexguard prior and even though I never had any ticks with nexguard it was when I learn this that I decided to switch to seresto. Anyway I’ve rambled enough, if you live in an area where paralysis ticks are a problem I highly recommend seresto collars, in my opinion they are the best treatment option available now.

Buyers beware! This collar is super expensive and ineffective! – My poor boy Zeus was only 1.5 years old when he was bitten by his first tick and died from tick paralysis! He had this collar on which was supposed to prevent ticks! Unfortunately not only did it not prevent ticks but he got a tick and it didn’t slow down the poison at all! The tick seemed to have been on him for about 8 hours until I checked him… Read more

and found it ! Unfortunately after a long weeks battle in vet emergency his body could not take any more and he passed away. I have since found out from many vets and one that is the tick paralysis specialist of Australia that these collars are highly ineffective as they are made out of 70s technology! They have not updated their formulas since then ! Amazing they are even still allowed to sell them ! Bayer whom owns advantage protect themselves from any liability by claiming you need to check your dog twice a day for tick daily minimum. In honour of my beautiful boy Zeus who was taken from me too soon I am writing this as a warning for all dog owners beware this collar does not work!

I love it but needs tweaking – Absolutely love the collar, only thing that works on my border collie, just needs to be water proof instead of water resistant. It rains in summer too then the collar loses its effectiveness Show details

8yrs of use with perfect protection, not so this year 2022 – This is the first year in eight years of using Seresto tick collars that I've had issues. Saved our Husky's life – This season for fleas has been so overwhelming. My 17 year old husky is an outdoor dog and was beginning to slow down a little. We even sprayed her entire outside area with pet safe flea insecticide. ...still, nothing. I… Read more

decided to purchase a Seresto collar for her as we thought she was so weak she was on her last legs. Within a day the fleas on her snout, legs and underside started leaving, 2 days her appetite returned, 3 days her eyes seemed clearer and since then she is back to her volatile self.

Thankyou Seresto... you've made all of us so happy.

100% effective in my experience – I had to find a new flea control for my two dogs 7 years ago when the collars they'd been wearing stopped working. I tried the topical applications which were effective for three weeks, then the fleas came back. That made them very expensive propositions. I bought the Seresto collars, the fleas disappeared and I haven't seen one since. Neither dog… Read more

has ever had a tick.

It's impossible to say the collars keep the fleas and ticks away, because maybe there would have been none anyway. But I'm confident the disappearance of the fleas was no coincidence. Neither dog has ever experienced any kind of side effect, and consequently I recommend Seresto collars without reservation for peace of mind.

Useless! – I bought these collars for my dog and put on as per the instructions. Five days later I removed a paralysis tick from my toy poodle’s head. He spent four days in hospital and I just got him out after paying the vet’s bill. He’s still not 100% as his left eye is still paralysed, but he survived. The vet has advised the Seresto collar is not effective in their experience. Show details

Ineffective collar, rude service – My three dogs got fleas (which they’d never had); I called customer service and “[Name Removed]” told me if the collars didn’t work, there would be more fleas. I said that that didn’t sound right; she told me very rudely that she could explain it again if I didn’t understand. I asked her name again. She refused to give it and then she hung up on me. Show details

Changed product - now useless! – I’ve happily used these in the UK , with a vets prescription, for my dog over the past 8 years and they’ve been the only thing that worked and stopped the many ticks she picked up. Only way to control fleas on cats – I have been using these for some time now, and they are the only thing that keeps the fleas off my cat. touch the skin. Can help this by ensuring it stays over fur, or putting some cream to relieve the rash. Rash issue goes after a while as the collar gets older. They are very strong at first, but very effective.
