Ripoff Company : They came to quote me for a Power Switch and quote me Double the price in comparison to others, so I refused but then Charged me $19 for Quoting
Clicked on the plumber closest to me on map. States up-front quotes- needed a leaky tap fixed. Plumber attended, didn’t have vertical shower tap stock- only side by side. Cost $50 call out. Total cost $650 and “cold” reads upside down. Taps going to the left and right. Disappointing service.

Excellent Plumbing Service from Service Today – Called service today in the morning to clear blocked outside drain, plumber arrived in the afternoon and jet blasted blockage. Video inspection showed 60 year clay pipe had partly separated so arranged for the drain and connecting pipes to be replaced with PVC pipes. All work completed the next day, great work. Next thing he says he is some sort of business person, the tradie will be coming in the afternoon with a ladder and can have a look at the hot water system , and convinced me to sign in for a membership. Anyway, the two young guys turned up in the afternoon. One electrician changed “ out dated things “, which I later realised didn’t need to be changed, and charged me hundreds of dollars. The other guy had no idea what’s happening but he was meant to climb on the roof and have a look at the hot water system but his ladder was not high enough and he wasn’t going to “ risk his life “. What a joke ! When I confronted them about the poor service and frustration they caused me, instead of being apologetic, they were rude and left .. still no hot water after all of that . I ended up speaking to their manager on Monday ( still no hot water) and told them I didn’t want their “help” any longer. I called the Australian Hot Water instead. An efficient young man called [Name Removed], who fixed the( minor)problem in minutes . No drama at all and only few hundred dollars as oppose to changing the whole hot water system costing thousands. So yeah, Service(not) Today No, you can’t ! And shame on you!

globes for my downlights as it turned out not all transformers needed to be replaced only 5 out of 20 lights . I tried negotiate and tried to explain how high the pricing was for a simple job.. I will post the invoice and I asked for the breakdown and they wouldn’t do the items separately. Two electricians arrived and completed the job in 3hrs ..As I have done the calculations of their time $150.00 hr x8 $1,200.00 x 2 is $2,400.00 It’s mind boggling they can charge at this level for simple work . I will post the invoice as I have been charged $2500.00 more than expected. Below are the invoices and photos of the scope of work that was done and invoices from Service Sydney responded back with a credit back to me of $314.00 as I don’t know how they came to that figure . I will also take this matter further with Ombudsman as the labour charge $3,101.00 $387.00 per hour for 8hrs standard day.. 2 electricians completed the job in 3hrs. They are complete scammers .. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

So, both jobs - shower and mizer installation would cost have cost me $4,168. See the attached screenshots. It seems to me that they come up with their quutes as they go, to see if you swallow it hook, ine and sinker. The guy who came - [Name Removed] - seemingly nice, was trying to persuade me that it was time to change the gas heater, and it would cost me "just" 2,800$ if I wanted to do all the three jobs. Later I checked the cost of the heater - the same brad as mine - it only costs 980$. ALl in all, they are unrealistically over-priced! Shop around. There are many good plumbers out there.

I would rate it as zero if it was available. Stay clear of this business as they charge you to come out. They don't do much if any investigation and then quote you another call out fee in their quote.

was laughed at and told lots of people are shocked by the price of plumbing, that it was a big business that needed to pay for Google ads so they needed to charge a premium (very bizarre). As someone who runs several businesses, it seemed quite strange to be mansplained how a business runs. He offered to wave the $50 call out fee, bringing it to $700.
He made it sound like it was a decent sized job, had to fix previous work etc. Reluctantly agreed to the cost, we signed, and then he proceeded to spend no more than 3 minutes turning the water off, recapping it (using a $3.25 part) and that was it.
I called their head office this morning (twice - the first time i was assured someone would call me back, they didnt so i had to chase them again). I asked for an itemised invoice as what i was provided on our invoice was one line item. They told me they do not provide this - i guess they just make it up as they go along. I was offered a $100 refund, which still feels like i am being overcharged especially considering they cant itemise what im being charged for. I said i felt i needed more off and they declined.
Plenty of other good tradies out there, stay away from these clown shoes.

Dreadful rip off. First I was told about the company's $89 call out and when they switched me to another staff member she said the call out was $149. When I pulled her up on that she checked and said she could 'honour' the original figure. hours he quoted me just under $2000! I was horrified and pointed out he was charging at least $600 per hour for a job requiring no materials, it wasn't an emergency and it was within normal business hours. He looked very sheepish and said he'd call the office to see if he could get me a discount. He then said he could do it for $1249 including call out fee which, although still outrageous, I accepted because he was on site and I wanted the job done promptly. Oh and don't believe their offer of 'mediation'. They use this as a way to stall your review publication but they don't follow up. Never again will I deal with this company who will quote whatever they think they can get away. Steer clear.

mould in our air con and that it needed a thorough clean and service. Second quote we got serviced and cleaned our air con’s for a fraction of the price they quoted. In their favour they were courteous and upfront about the service fee of $89. I think they are probably fine with routine stuff. ADDITION: Brian from Service today contacted me regarding the review. He was very courteous and understanding of my concerns and the quote. So I would say they are open to querying quotes and are very determined to provide good customer service.

Simply: - the cost of replacing a bathroom fan for $471 which took less than one hour - the fake "let me check with the boss whether I can take away the call out fee" - the fact that the switch is upside down so 'on' in now 'off' and visa versa. misleading. The offshore call centre was the first indication that I was not dealing with a small local company. I agreed to pay their weekend callout fee on the assumption the work would be done on the first visit.
The plumber arrived promptly but without any replacement parts. He confirmed what needed to be done and gave me a quote for a return visit after the weekend.
I was shocked at the outrageously high price quoted. It boiled down to be more than $1,000/hr. When I respectfully queried the basis for the quote I was advised it was not based on time or parts - but rather a price book.
I paid the callout fee, which I didn't think was fair given the intent appears to have always been to visit to quote and then return on a second visit to do the actual repair. I declined the quote and subsequently sought a local plumber who did the work the following week for a fraction of the price quoted.
It disappoints me to think these large service companies (there are others) appear to prey on a combination of customer ignorance and/or a customer desire to get something fixed quickly and expediently at any cost.
Clearly, I wouldn't recommend Service Today unless you are happy to pay a (big) premium.

boss” and could give me a once in a lifetime VIP deal at $17,000. Oldest trick in the book. I balked and repeatedly said I wanted a second quote but the guy wouldn’t initially take no for an answer, telling me he was already here and no one could beat them on price, he already had the truck and gear here, etc. Took a good 20 minutes to get him to leave.
Of course I got a second opinion. The quote came in at half the original price at $7.8k plus GST, 8.6k total. They said they didn’t like to badmouth competitors but for this particular one they’d make an exception and that they prey on unsuspecting customers.
Today I saw this once again firsthand. I was appalled to receive deceptive advertising purporting to be a handwritten recommendation letter from a neighbour that does not exist.
I note that another poster in QLD has already complained about and posted the same thing today as well, and that they have apparently denied being behind it. I’m in NSW. I’m curious as to who else would be doing mass letterbox drops nationwide on the same day for no one else’s benefit but their’s.

I realise now I got totally ripped off (I think). Charged over $300 for unstopping a stuck drain without actually fixing the drain itself. I just needed it done so paid but now realise it could/should have been done for a lot less. My fault for not doing some more homework and shopping around - I will next time.
But I get the impression these guys are a bit dodgy with their services - it isn't particularly clear who you are hiring - the website offers you a 'leave a review' button that doesn't work - LOL. Just a warning to anyone who hires these guys that they are really expensive and definitely shop around for prices - and maybe not from this website. ______________ An update to my review - I have changed my customer service rating to 5 stars. Service today have been very responsive to the concerns I raised and provided me with a refund on a portion to what I paid to the plumber. I respect that they function as a central site that directs work to plumbers who are listed with them. So my issue lies then with the plumber who came out and quoted an exorbitant price for minor work rather than with service today. I appreciate their prompt response to my concerns and if I knew who the specific plumber was I would leave a negative review directed at him rather than the booking portal.

Not satisfied – My problem is tree roots in sewer. The plumber spent an hour and half but did not remove the roots. He stated would remove as part of $8,000 to $10,000 on lining 4 metres of pipes. (internet quotes circa $4,000 for the same work)

It is a Scam – I called this company to check my hot water system. The technician said the the whole system is faulty and it needs to be replaced. He gave me a quote for $15,084.69. This was absolutely ridiculous. I called Rennai hot water technician, who found the faulty valve and replaced it for only $200 plus the call fee.
