The best non toxic cookware on the market today – i have been using silit since the 60's when i bought my first large casserole pot from david jones. it was on special! since then i have gone out of my way to buy the enamel lined and coated solid stainless steel saucepans and frypans. my daughter also uses them as does my son, as they got used to them when living at home. yes if you don't oil… Read more
the enamel frypan before you make an omelet you will have trouble trying to scrap off the excess, but just soak it in water for an hour and it just washes off!! patience is needed.
Good, but lid issues – Love the saucepans, quick to boil and very little water required. However, the lids on two sizes developed chipping on the edges. This is not through rough handling and I am currently talking with manufacturers in Germany. I note that the later models of these saucepans have a stainless steel rim on the glass lids. Perhaps there is an issue with the rimless lids? Show details
GREAT COOKWARE – I purchased a set for my induction cooktop. Very high quality cookware. It is not sold as non-stick, so don't expect the same results as you would with toxic teflon coated pans. If one uses butter, particularly with eggs, there is no problem. Oil is fine with other foods. They are heavy, excellent quality. I have since purchased a pressure cooker and fry pans. No problems at all. They will last a lifetime. Show details
Silit – Should have read the reviews. Thought a German product would be good. The Silit Frypan is absolute rubbish sticks like you would not believe. Eggs, sausage, bacon the whole dox and dice. Give this product a wide berth Show details
Dont try to cook an Omlet or Pancakes – I originally purchased Fissler casserole pot and lid, and liked it very much. Cannot find the exact type in their new range, so, decided on recommendation to Purchase a Silit fry pan. Worked OK for the first few times, then I tried to cook an omelette - total disaster! Took 6 soakes/washes to dislodge egg then the pan was left with staining. … Read more
Pancakes also stick badly. No amount of restoration as suggested from the cookware maintenance leaflet helped. Would not buy again. Will continue looking for Fissler products.
Very good quality cookware – These 4 saucepans are exceptionally good quality. Really sturdy, heavy, easy to clean. They have black, ceramic coated black interiors. This type also has a sliding vent in the lid. This is very handy to adjust how sealed off the saucepans are while cooking, and you can also use the lid as a strainer to drain cooking liquid. The sliding vent… Read more
mechanism is made of a type of plastic/bakelite, and you can remove these pieces so that the lid can go in the dishwasher. They are expensive but wonderful to use. They work perfectly on induction stove tops.
Highly Recommended – I purchased this set on a 50% sale after a few weeks of looking up suggestions and reviews. I wanted a high quality, quick conducting, solid, fairly low maintenance saucepan and frypan without any teflon or other nasty products leaching into my food. I've only owned my Silit saucepan and frypan for about two weeks now, but I totally love them! I'm… Read more
a vegetarian, so I use the frypan for stirfries, tofu dishes and patties primarily. I use the casserole dish for pasta dishes, stews and boiled/steamed vegetables. I like the fact that the cookware heats up so quickly and then retain that heat. I find I use less gas than I did with previous cookware. While they're not non-stick, they're easy to clean if you wash them immediately after use. I bought the Silit liquid cleaner and I've found that it makes them look just like new. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a healthier form of cookware. Heats up quickly, energy efficient, easy to clean, not fragile, free from teflon and other nasty chemicals Expensive unless purchased on sale
Cookware for life! – We love this cookware, we have the whole set - we replaced it after the terrible tragedy of owning tefal cookware. The pots are quality. They are heavy ceramic, with glass lids. They heat up very quickly and distribute the heat evenly. Make sure not to cook food on too hot though - it can obviously stick, this is not the poisonous tefal. In case… Read more
you do get stick marks, put some water and vingar to boil and your pots will be like new. These cookpots are my pride and joy
Great saucepan, horrible frypan! – We bought this on an attractice sale - and were originally quite fond of it. Silit cookware heats up very quickly, quicker than my Scanpan or other frypans. And are also quite light. However, be warned that the enamel surface sticks. Don't try pancakes on this. Or eggs. And I for one am not a fan of oily cooking or adding generous dollops of… Read more
butter to lubricate my frypan when I am health conscious.
Not much to add about the saucepan. It's fine for what it is! Solid, well built. Light. Fast heatup Enamel surface sticks. Not cheap, unless bought on a 45% sale!
