My family absolutely love Smiths chips but every time I go down the chips aisle I cannot help but wonder why chips now a days are not packaged just like papadums in a small box that can be cooked at home.Imagine how much the freight cost and environmental issues would go down.
What a waste of money! Purchased Cheese and Onion chips in 6 pack today from Raintree's Woolworths in Manunda Qld and as usual no seasoning! tasteless and stale. As usual they will do nothing and just keep taking customers money. Show details
The chips are hard and sharp – I’ve always brought smiths crinkle cut chips(45 years)but something has changed over the past 3-6 mths and they are too hard. I’m changing brands Show details

Tasteless Crap – Not only are they tasteless and NOTHING like they used to be but the packets are smaller and you still pay the same!!! Shame on you Smiths. The almighty dollar, it seems is all you’re worried about”. Disgusting quality and BLAND and basically look like just a plain chip with no salt!! YUCK!!! Show details

Turned me right off?? – Watched the latest ad, will never buy that product again, gratuitous pandering to huge GAYNESS??. My mates also hate it. GAY Used to be a new Holden color in the old days but if we have to defend our country we are down the gurgler. ??? Show details
They have a great flavour – I loved Smith's pepper steak flavour and havent seen them in ages. I do like the different taste of these bbq meatlovers. I'm not a meat eater but will eat these
Best C and O in Oz – I am not sure why this is getting bad reviews?? After coming from Ireland 20 years ago it was hard to find a decent chip...until I found these. Maybe aussies don't get cheese and Onion but these are the best in this flavour. In fact the flavour has improved since they started using Sunflower oil. Healthier too. Keep it up Smiths. your cheese and Onion is tasty and you can take that from Kingfood the connoisseur of potato chips!
Negative reviews
Stale – Even though there is a long use by date, Smiths Chips still taste stale, the packet states original, they are definitely not the original chips. They are no better than the no brands which is a shame, it’s as if they have been cooked or dried too long. Show details
What’s happened to Crinkle Cut crisps – It’s December 2024 and the last 2 packs of Smith’s crinkle chips have changed! They are now so hard it’s like trying to eat dog biscuits and the shards in your mouth can do a bit of damage if you’re not careful. I’ve been eating them for 20 years and haven’t come across this before ever. It will be Aldi’s Sprinters from now on. Show details
SMITH CHIPS ARE TOO SALTY – ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! all smith chips are very salty and very bad for your health. They intentionally over salt their chips to make us sick. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS.

Not happy – I have always bought the assorted little packs of assorted flavour in the big box, as I liked the different flavours, every single plain crinkle cut have been stale and tastes like cardboard , once ok maybe a bad batch ,but this is the fourth box, so bad I will no longer buy the boxes any more, please get someone to look into this problem, Show details
Smith chips Terrible – These chips have lost their appeal since Smiths decided to cut down on the salt, it's like eating cardboard, hence I will never buy these chips or Twisties ever again, flavour is gone Show details
Product quality has significantly diminished – Dear Smiths Please attend to your potato chips product quality - there is an immediate problem with your current business model. Not only has your product shrunk in size over the years, so too has the quality of your product. In a strange dichotomy, there has been an exponential increase to price of your product! What is going on? Can no longer be a supporter of your product. Show details
Disgusting – Brought a big pack of the cheese & onion. Every single chip had big black dots on it. Smelt & tasted like rotten potatoes. I wish I read reviews on here before I purchased! Smith's , what happened to you's! Won't be purchasing anymore. Show details
Im having a moment and its a combination of revulsion of taste and society reengineering – Have been buying Smiths for decades and yes the quality has declined. However the social reengineering in their ads is unpalatable as well. We are not alone. In an experience we have never encountered before in a supermarket has been complaints in the " chip" aisle from other customers boycotting Smiths for the same reasons. We have changed and… Read more
now we have explored other brands that will do nicely. To hear other customers voicing their disgust at the Smiths ad is indicative of consumers drawing the line. You don't tell us how to think Smiths.
Not the chips I grew up with. Mockingly has "original" in there slogan – I remember opening a bag of Smith's in the late 2000s or early 2010s. You could smell a bag of these being opened from across the room. There was just so much flavour I have distinct memories of the quality. You could see the flavour it would get layered on your hands. I believe it all started changing when they started putting those "now with… Read more
less fat" logos on the corner several times. And PepsiCo started cheaping out cheating the consumers. And looking at profits dont even try to say but inflation. Now they taste oily and bland and have changed the recipe at least 3 times I can think of. Because most recent change they have whatever this tocopherol and rosemary garbage in them. One of my favourite brands fallen from grace. I believe these chips will never be the same. I used to eat a big bag of these every day now they are just not that enjoyable and it's not just me. Its such a shame. Please fix PepsiCo, make Smith's iconic again and not just another brand on the shelf. The best ads won't fix this product. Bring it back.
What have they done? Something tastes wrong – I have been a long time Smiths Crisps consumer. Original flavour definitely tastes different and not in a nice way Show details
Changed due to inflation – They now taste exactly like the cheaper no-name version, earthy, rough, burnt and leave a lasting horrible taste. Also lacking salt. They’ve decided to cut costs and dupe us. Don’t purchase, they taste nothing like the premium tasty chip we are so used to. Not name-brand at all.
Yucko – Bought Smith's salt and vinegar chips they used to be good now there's a nasty taste in my mouth. Won't bother buying them again don't know what they changed but whatever it is it's for worst. Must be cost cutting and hoping no one will notice.

They Don't Taste Like They Used To – I agree with the other poor reviews of this product. I kept thinking 'maybe its a bad batch' , nope.... they are just horrible tasting now. Not purchasing anymore. Show details
Horrible burnt chips – These used to be my absolute fave plain salty chip. Their quality has now deteriorated so significantly that I refuse to buy them anymore. Always burnt and taste disgusting. Complaints to Smiths directly results in radio silence, they simply don’t care. Well, time to find a better product.
Bad chips – Terrible probably the worst chips I've had, too salty, are they actually made out of potatoes, not sure. Aussie potatoes are basically terrible. These chips taste synthetic, no texture at all
Blue Chip – Snacking on the Smiths double crunch chips and notice a chip with blue colour on it. We all instantly started feeling off thinking we’ve ingested some packaging dye or something. Really put us off for the rest of the night. My kids said “don’t ever give us these chips again!” That aside, we noticed a chemical taste and smell as others have said… Read more
here. Contacted Smiths and got a $5 voucher! Wow! You’ve out done yourselves Smiths!! Have to throw the entire snack packets away because we’re so turned off your chips and not to mention the panic we felt when the colour blue on the chip matched the colour on your packaging and we get $5. Just wow!
I’m very disappointed with smiths – Smiths chips taste ok but once I only got 3 small chips it is no fair that I pay money for crap all! I will not be having anymore ! And the bigger packets aren’t any better!
Taste like the bag – Taste disgusting. Stinks. Tastes like chemicals and plastics. Can't be good for human consumption Disappointed, happens more often than not now. Big bags seemworse than the kids snack size bags. Maybe they use chemical flavouring now?? Show details
More air than chips – On several occasions the bag of chips had hardly any chips in it. Not value for money. More air than chips. Flavour has also gone from their chips. Not good enough Smiths! Show details
Tasteless – Smiths what has happened to the flavours, non existent, have complained before about cheese & onion and now my other favourite chicken is also tasteless and bland. Won’t be buying again Show details
