Smith's Oven Baked Sea Salt

Not relaxed, nor do I enjoy – Purchased by mistake. It was a visual shop without reading the front label. It’s an occasional thing, but when I want a bag of chips, don’t want 50% salt free or baked. I want full salt and fried. These woody texture things have no flavour. Why would anyone eat them. Probably good with a dip, maybe. Show details
Got it based on the poor reviews – So yeah title. I figured well I usually like what people don’t, so it was on special and I got a bag … yeah that’s where it ends. Can taste the canola oil from beginning to end and for several minutes after. It did not have a pleasant redeeming taste or any redeeming qualities at all in fact. I will toss it. Mine was also way more salty than… Read more
sweet.
Sometimes great stuff is created, this was a waste of food, highly doubt very many could stand that awful oil flavour, you may as well open a bottle of canola and drink it. I would assume that tastes way better than this.
Snack foods should be pleasant and have very addictive flavours, this failed on all counts.
Annoyed – Corn oil flower! 50% potato’s Give me a break they have gone over to the greedy corporate morons who only care about money, and have 0 concern about you. You’ve lost me smiths will never buy any of your products again
As bad as Pringle's – If you hate Pringles like I do you'll hate these chips. I couldn't finish them after just a few. Threw them out. Show details
Alas, these oven baked chips are NOT healthy – Too much sugar and salt Added wheat (ew) and canola oil Decidedly unhealthy. What a pity
Truly awful – All I could taste was sugar. They are salted chips for goodness sake, why on earth do they have sugar added and at a higher proportion than salt, which is what the flavour is supposed to be!!! Will never buy again. I thought less fat was a good thing, honestly, i'd rather have the fat than the sugar any day. Show details
Never again – Horrible texture, it was like eating salted cardboard. Bought them on special for $2.20 thinking, they're Smith's, they can't be too bad. Not often I admit I was wrong. I was badly wrong. Never again. Show details
I’m currently sitting here crunching the Salt & vinegar ones – Absolutely divine crispy and crunchy without being greasy; Wish it came in smaller packets because I’m over eating them. I like that they are made in Australia and the salt and vinegar is very tangy and delicious Show details
Not gluten free – These chips were quite yummy but they are NOT GLUTEN FREE, as many other Smiths chips appear to be. This was quite disappointing to learn. My wife was who is coeliac was quite unwell afterwards, so coeliacs beware! Show details
Aweful, sweet, and taste less of potato than pringles – These are sweet and salty in a way that just doesn't work and don't really even taste like potato chips. 50% less fat? Like that even matters if the chips just taste bad. Show details
Disappointed – The Sea salt flavoured variety have sugar added and actually taste sweet. They would be great without the sweet flavour. The other flavours are quite nice but these are too sweet. Show details
Can’t believe you would add wheat flour + sugar – Potentially great product - overnight baked - tick - but disappointed that then you go and add sugar and coat in wheat flour? Why? Who did the product development and panel testing? If these 2 ingedients were removed I’d buy again but unfortunately are deal breakers. Show details
Savoury should not be sweet – Smiths oven baked sea salt chips. Less fat - hooray. Oops but savoury chips are sweet. Horrible sweet chips i stead of salty savoury chips or heaven forbid actually tasting potato. Right idea but why so much sugar. These are awful. Show details
Find out how Smith's Oven Baked Sea Salt compares to other Chips
Know better, choose better.
Humongous amount of sugar – Compared to other Smiths thin and cut salt and vinegar chips, these oven baked have 7.7g sugar per 100g. Pathetic that Smiths would try and fool the market like this with such an UNHEALTHY choice of product. Smith oven baked sour cream and chives has 6.7g sugar per 100g of. Always thought Smiths might have been a healthy choice. I’ll never buy any… Read more
Smiths products again. They really tried to fool the Ava rage Australian like myself. Taste: Compared-to the normal chips they absolutely tasted sweet and awful. Hard to taste the salt over the huge sugar in the recipe. Really bad one Smiths. Can only be a $$$ consideration.
Don't Buy – Tried these last night, awful. Funny unpleasant taste. Like chewing cardboard. Whole family very disappointed and agreed not to buy again. Half the packet went in the bin. We won't buy again. Also read ingredients. Show details
No Flavour Enhancers (Fantastic) – This review also relates to the new oven baked salt and vinegar chips. Excellent to see that this Smith’s chip product does not contain flavour enhancers (MSG!!!) (621) which seems to be the latest trend for Smith’s to add to some of their products. We have stopped buying their products for this reason, however these healthier versions with less… Read more
fats particularly saturated fats at 1.4 g per 100g are a good option with very reasonable taste, good texture, a more acceptable sodium level of 671 mg per 100g and less associated Heath guilt. I notice that natural flavour has been added to the ingredient listing, I am not sure what this is , any chance on some feedback to verify its health related aspect and not a alternate clever marketing word for flavour enhancers which are prevalent in most whole natural foods to some minor degree. Respect to Smith’s on an improved product line.
not worth trying- very disappointing – smiths NEW oven baked sea salt chips tasteless next to no salt not worth the trouble to open the pack the reason I get smiths original is cause they are so fantastic didn't want to finish the pack
