Best tv I’ve ever owned – My parents got this TV way back in 2009 and it’s still working like brand new! It is one of the best TV’s money can buy. So much so that I bought myself a brand new Bravia. I’d recommend Sony TV’s to anyone. Show details
Nice LCD and the Motionflow option is great, good speakers too 1920x1080i – has everything solid LCD technology still works with sharp picture and the joy of Motionflow and 1920x1080i nuff said.............
Great value for monry TV with great features – I bought this after my AWA 42" Plasma couldn't be fixed under warranty. Why I bought the Sony is after sales support. Brands such as Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and LG are constantly updating their firmware and are unlikely to disappear off the face of the earth. For $1166 I got a 55" LCD with full HD resolution (I paid extra for another 2… Read more
years extended warranty). The next best picture I would have had to pay $2000 more for and got a smaller screen (was a Samsung BTW).
The picture is good, but can appear a little washed out when watching some TV channels (Plasma had a more consistant picture) but when hooked up to my Sony Blu-Ray, the picture is truely awesome.
The refresh rate is excellent, no pixlated footballs like on earlier LCD's.
My only regret is not spending the extra coin on a Sony Amp so Bravia Sync would have worked there too (as good as my Yamaha is) Well known brand for very realistic price. Fantastic Picture. Truelly bang for your buck! Some TV channels the picture can look a little washed out. EPG can be a little slow to refresh too.
Awesome product – great tv i have the 42' great picture quality, fast moving pictures, great connection, descent (not the best) sound. Watching bluerays, plugging in my laptop, and my media center PC works great. EPG guide pretty lame have to physically go to channel to see whats on the guide! bought it for 1190 at the time BUT very cheap now Great picture, connectivity
Great LCD love it – The picture is quite good and doesnt have that jittery effect some lcds have on fast paced movies. The brushed steel down the bottom is all class. Theres 4 hdmi ports, and usb ports. Theres a few good options such as a picture reader so u can plug a usb stick in packed with pics and it will slideshow, you can even play music via MP3 and certain… Read more
video such as avi. I bought this together with a PS3 and the 2 can be synchronised to switch off together. The only issue that the channels take about 1 sec to change which is quite slow when you just want to flick through everything really fast. Also some options like the favourites list has a lag, but i hardly use it. Other than that i highly reccommend it. Picture, 4X hdmi ports, brushed steel. channels changing is slow
Excellent – Great all round TV for gaming and blu-rays or just watching tele. I would recommend to anyone based on price and features. Excellent design with the brushed steel along the bottom edge. I use it with my playstation 3. When I turn on the playstation the tv also switches on, great feature. The picture is also very good. I spent a lot of time… Read more
comparing with the others and this one seemed to have the best quality and much smoother. I was also surprised to find it was cheaper than competitors. The menu is also very easy to learn and use.
Good – Really, for the money there is no argument that this is an amazing HD LCD TV. They have been on sale in many retail stores and after much research I helped my parents purchase 3 101cm (40') versions of these for different parts of the house. With the brushed metal finish along the bottom, they look very stylish, not like the cheap black plastic… Read more
look that most other brands go for. Style has always been Sony's forte.
Setting up is simple and the TV guides you through the channel setup. The remote is very attractive and easy to understand. The TV menu is very interactive and there is a favourites menu to help you find the options you've used recently.
There is a USB connection so you can access media (movies, music and pics) from a USB stick but there are restrictions on what file types you can use and most movie files are not supported (avi is however).
Picture quality is on par for a modern screen. Better than older screens but perhaps outdone by the newer LED technology now available. As with most HD LCD/LED screens, it suffers from SOE which makes the fact that TV shows were filmed in a studio all the more obvious and CG images in live acion films (such as Avatar) look far more CG than they do on say an old CRT or Plasma. SOE is a problematic phenomenon which is a plague on current LCD/LED technology but not everyone even notices it so I recommend you look at the screen yourself.
Overall, a good purchase for the money. There is better out there, but you'll be paying a lot more for it. Attractive, classy designGreat value Mild soap opera effect (SOE)
Good – Good looking TV and good Brand! Very crisp picture and with the swivel base you can turn the screen in other directions if you want to. I have the 55 inch and love its clarity! The picture is crisp and better than my last tv being a plasma. The base swivels so we can turn the set towards the dining table and watch it. Pretty easy to learn and I am no techo Its is slow to change a channel
