I purchased this model in 2008 – Thanks, Sony for the great LCD TV and 14 years of viewing. Show details
Excellent – At the time we got this, it came with a free ps3. It works flawlessly with the ps3 and the 720p and 1080p games are stunningly crisp and clear. The sound is great for a small lounge and is superior to other inbuilt speakers on HD televisions. The format for the TV guide is well set out and the XMB bar (the menu) is very organised. adjustments are needed (which is nededed for all new TVs)to get this beautiful picture but it is well worth your money, even without the ps3 Crisp, vivid image. Beautiful in 1080p. Sound is very decent Price. Remote is dodgy as sometimes it does not work when you turn it on straight away
Excellent – When I first got this TV home I was very disappointed as the picture was very bright, lacked crispness and blurred a lot, I was so unimpressed that I almost returned it. After several hours of calibrating the brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc using the THX calibration disk (comes with Finding Nemo) and turning off all of the unneeded features… Read more
such as live color, dynamic blacks, etc then gave the TV a couple of months to burn in and settle down. It now looks awesome, colors are natural, only on rare occasions have I noticed some blurring, you have to look pretty closely, but thats just LCD technology. Stylish TV especially when compared with the new 40V5000 BE3 model. Full HD with built in freeview HD tuner. Easy to use interface and excellent picture quality. Sound could be better although it is acceptable for a 4.5m x 9m room. Cinema picture mode has too much red, would be better if it was closer to D65. Lack of individual RGB colour calibration in the user menu.
Excellent – We have the KDL40V4000, which is a very nice size for watching movies in a fairly normal-sized lounge room. We've really enjoyed this as our family TV and we've never had anything to complain about. I imagine that you could get extra special sound if you had a surround sound package added on, but we are not audiovisual experts so we're perfectly… Read more
happy with it as is. Can't comment on gaming and so on, because we don't do that. Excellent picture quality - really does justice to Blu-Ray. A very nice-looking TV (we have the black one) with a quality feel. The sound (without any added surround package) is good. Easy to install and operate.
Excellent – We have the KDL40V4000. This is our first LCD television and the whole family is happy. It was a great price. When purchasing the salesman tried to sell us a surround sound package but for a small lounge such as ours it's not necessary, the sound is fine. Beautiful picture, great sound, full HD, more channels. Plenty of plugs for the… Read more
playstation. Easy to install. Love the fact that these new tv's are self programming, anyone can install one. No need to pay an expensive installer. Nothing. We sometimes get trouble with Channel 10 but think this is more to do with the reception that the tv.
Good – I have one in my bedroom and I purchase the V series because it was the cheaper model at that time, and 32" because it was the perfect size and distance ratio for my bedroom, and I love it; I just wish I had a cable running in here for TV though. Smooth, clean images with various modes to bring to life colour, vibrancy, contrast, and depth.… Read more
It's too bad it doesn't have the full 255 colour spectrum, but even without it, blacks are very black and it is absolutely beautiful.
The built-in speakers a pretty good quality and pretty loud too. Bass is evident, though not strong and very deep. You can't expect much from built-in devices, but you'll be amazed with the overall quality.
If you're looking for something cheap but of great quality, you can't go wrong with the V series. A lot of inputs, decent built-in speaker quality, HD ready, 1080p The 24bit system leaves much to be desired at times when you wish it was 32bit at least, no full 255 colour spectrum
