Excellent TV – Great TV, has been using for last 13+ years, no complaints. Have been using with gaming consoles, a fetch box, a Yamaha AV receiver and an audio mixer for Karaoke.
Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $3,500.
Terrible in so many ways – Always freezes, turns off, pauses, etc. Continuous issues with it. Smart but not many options. No bluetooth, one of the HDMI parts doesn't even work. TV quality is rubbish - this is NOT worth it
Purchased in .
Great TV – I've had this TV for about 4 years and it's been very reliable. I think the picture quality is good. I watch sports etc all ok with no ghosting. Colours are great. The remote control is the target of my two kids and is simply unbreakable. Sound is quite good with decent volume. Very reliable but beware, don't buy the 40 inch model as they have been recalled for catching fire! Models KDL-40W3100, KDL-40XBR, KDL-40X3100 have been recalled. very reliable but very good quality It's expensive.
Great tele but getting dated quickly – To date it's been three and a half years since we first purchased this tele. It’s survived the move from our shared rental accommodation to our newly built home, and now resides wall mounted in our rumpus. This is quite heavy and due to its size is awkward to maneuver around the house, but now that it’s wall mounted it is no longer an issue. Size is still reasonable, and should suffice hopefully till its extended warranty term of four years on top of the standard one year manufacturer warranty period.
This model apparently did not suffer from the same electronic issues which higher models of that time suffered from.
This doesn’t have all the new wiz bang features available to televisions available on the market today, e.g. Internet connectivity and 3D viewing. Neither of which I miss, personally I hate 3D viewing, and you’ll probably find that most people with 3D capable television screens don’t actual use it all that much. And Internet connectivity, the Western Digital Live TV fills this void, and probably does a much better job anyhow.
The screen is nice, clear, as you would expect from a Full HD 1080P television screen. The blacks are not true blacks, and the screen does present some unwanted light when displaying a black screen. There is no apparent light leakage around the edges though.
When this model was purchased, LCD screens with 60Hz and higher were somewhat of a premium product. Now you have 200Hz and 600Hz screens, some of which are nice. But I personally find that when the image is too fluid, it starts to feel very artificial. The display from a plasma screen would’ve probably been nicer, smoother and natural at the same time. At the same time, we’re not that fussed on the display refresh rate.
Size, definitely thicker than LED screens seen today. And if anything, the upgrade would be to reduce power consumption, reduce thickness and to slightly increase the size. But given almost 4 years down the track, and we don’t feel too far left behind in technology, it’s been great. Partnering it up with a nice sound system and full range speakers, and a networked media centre, this setup is still to date very functional and should last us a number of years to come. Reliable
