Hi all, I would like to ask about remotes for this TV. Has anybody purchased an aftermarket generic one, which model remote and where from, and do they work properly ? Does the aftermarket remote come with it's own instructions. I would also like to know how to set the correct connections to play a Sega Master System into this unit if it is possible, thanks in advance Paul.
I have a generic remote control. Works well. Just Google the model number and remote control.

Hello - just got gifted this Sony Bravia KDL40X3100 TV (built in Japan in 2008 !) btu when I do the full scan it does find the channels 30, 70, 90 which are the HD versions of channels SBS, 7 and 9, but instead of having the channel I have the radio ! Does it mean that this old model of TV is not able to show HD channels ? Thanks !
It's too old to show HD channels. I would recommend getting a set top box to get HD. It's the tuner in the TV itself.
I have one of these. It's a great television. I get all channels including HD channels. Maybe you do need a set top box. But I got my aerial adjusted. It's great

Happened to my TV too. The TV then afyer a few months displayed vertical lines and ghosting and yesterday i brought a new tv and not a Sony due to this TV experience.

Hi Khurram, mine did the same thing. I didn't use the TV for 2 weeks and then reconnected. It started working.. if it still doesn't work , try opening the back side and unplug t con board and mother board as shown in youtube and reconnect.
Just like Mike above I cannot get HD TV anymore, sound but no picture. While I had the TV at my place I had all channels including HD. I then gave the TV to a friend on the other side of the city. Her smaller TV had HD. But this Sony now just provides "radio" sound for the HD channel. So I wonder why the claim that it can't handle MPEG4 format? At my place it was only connected to the antennae.

When tv is turned on picture is red. It corrects itself after about 15 minutes. Does this mean tv (Sony bravia) needs a t-con board replacement or is there another fix?
Hi Wendy, for checking (if you would like to partially dismantle it), I'd suggest unplugging the ribbon cables (where the T-Con board is) and placing them back in again. If that solves the problem, it was a poor connection (apparently the clips that hold them in get microscopic cracks, which isn't very good. It's mostly age related). I hope this helps!

Hi Ãll Y, I don't think you can purchase a new one. The last time these were new were back in 2007 and 2008. I wish you the best of luck in trying to find one!
