Not a bad tv initally – Purchased this television a few years ago, its all working well besides the usb function not longer reads however it still has power, as a result i now run a chromecast to it to stream movies which are on external HD Show details
Frustrated – Bought this tv about 2 years ago and have lost times I have done a factory reset.. Trying to watch Netflix etc frequently requires resetting the network connection. When watching things like seven plus part way through program screen goes black and tv freezes requiring it to be switched off at wall. Show details
Don't Buy – i bought this tv from The GoodGuys back in 2017 and asked to be shown great smart tv's for a family. This is what they convinced me to get and all i have had is issue after issue. Tv mutes itself at any time, doesn't turn on at time then we literally have to turn off at wall and wait a minute then turn on again, It switches channels on us, just… Read more
goes black whilst watching it and turns its self on when no one has timed anything. Its just a nightmare, and with a family having a good working tv is everything. So disappointed in this Sony TV and Sony's Customer Service it is shocking for a big company. So walk away from this Sony Tv, not worth it!!!
Positive reviews
Love my Smart tv – Love my smart tv has google, Netflix, Foxtel, you tube as well as numerous other apps. Great display haven’t had any issues with it. The only downfall is I can’t download my own apps as they become available such as 7go etc I have to search for them.
Always stick with my major brand for quality – I found with this smart tv to be reliable and the best ever with no problems and that's why I stuck with sony for this. Easy to use with the remote and the apps are fine with the smart tv function. Connecting to wifi is no problems . Sound is perfect. Highly recommended if you don't want problems. Show details
Great TV for what we paid! – Purchased this TV for a bargain price during Boxing Day sales and haven't regretted it since. My son uses it to play his PS4 and it looks amazing on it. The picture is beautiful and the sound is also pretty good, although you can't go wrong with adding a soundbar or any other sound setup to your TV to avoid even needing to use the TV speakers. inbuilt Smart TV functions are nice to have too. My partner watches Netflix on there and uses some of the catchup apps too. I would reccommend this TV to anyone who is after a good TV and can find it for a good price.
Negative reviews
Good grief Charlie Brown! – So disappointed. Cannot add Australian Apps, so frustrating. Bought from the Good Guys and told that it would load Stan etc. But it cannot. So frustrating. I cannot recommend this television as it is not what the salesperson said it would be. Sony should update the software to accept Australian Apps. Show details
Don't buy Especially from Good Guys!!!!! – We bought this TV from Good Guys 2 years ago and I would love to slap the person who sold this to us in the face!! I asked if this TV had all the Australian Apps like 7Plus, ABC for kids etc. and he laughed at me " OF course!!". Well guess what... it hasn't and there is no feature on the TV to add these apps. This TV is the only one on Sony that doesn't support Australian Apps. So stay away from it... and the Good Guys!!! Show details
Good picture, multiple problems with wifi connection – We have had a few issues with this Tv. We bought in October 2016. Some time later it wouldn't turn on with remote, then couldn't get wifi. It was fixed under warranty. A few months later, again no wifi. It was out of manufacturers warranty, but not ACL warranty so it was fixed free of charge again, no questions asked-thank you Sony, and they were… Read more
VERY quick to take action. Next failure the repairer didn't even have to look at the tv again and said they had ordered parts so im assuming its a faulty wifi card or something similar?) Wifi failed again a few months later. I emailed Sony but no reply. I've contacted Choice and they recommend I contact Good Guys, which I will do, when I have time... Other than that, the picture is good, its easy to use and were otherwise happy. I just think there's an underlying problem with this TV.

Terrible. Returned faulty – The picture quality is good and will work for free to air. I had issues with it not holding channels and changing automatically. The apps have issues constantly and internet drops off for no apparent reason. The only way to fix these issues are to reset to factory settings. And you will have to do this regularly. Would definitely not recommend. Show details
Great TV if it was set up for Australia – The picture is great but the apps are set up for another region. You can not load the Stan app and the apps that are preloaded are for other countries. Great if I lived in India or Asia but not much good for Australia. The picture quality and sound is great so it is a real pity that it lacks the functionality of a real smart TV. Show details
So far so good – So far so good. The set up was easy (skipped the auto set up because I have an HDMI cable box and just selected the input). The picture quality is great. It has more screen space than my old sony bravia. The sound is definitely different. It's about as loud on 50 as my old tv was on 30, which is okay because it's in a bedroom. The sound quality is… Read more
good. It does sound like it is coming from the tv and not bouncing off the wall behind it like some very thin tvs. Overall I like it. Also it has the turn on timer function which I love because I use my tv as an alarm clock.
Great value - what ours lacks in size it makes up for in image quality and function – First of all, the picture and sound quality on this TV are fantastic. I couldn't be more pleased. We have a small 32" model for a small loungeroom and it's worth paying a bit more for the sony compared to the soniq/hisense/etc offerings for the same size (try comparing the screens next to each other in the shop, you'll see the difference). … Read more
Youtube and Netflix functions work fine, making it much easier than the HDMI cable to laptop setup we used previously.
The one thing I've had trouble with is getting the TV to connect wirelessly to phones/tablets as it says it requires your device to have dedicated Sony software, which I haven't been able to find easily. I haven't spent a lot of time working out why this is so difficult but I expected it to be as easy as blue-tooth connecting to a car, so I'm a bit disappointed.

Great Tv - Very happy – Works very well with my Home network accessing my Synology drive for movies, netflix works very well and Colors and audio also work very well, Great Tv all round, Managed to get mine on a special price and kids give it a good workout with Channel 22. No Issues at all Show details
This is perfect – We bought this TV in 2014, and it doesn't matter what type of movie we are watching or how old the movie is that we are watching for the outcome is still the same, high definition and clarity. When we watch black and white old movies it's as if the was made in the present. We don’t have any problems with it, perfect product. Show details
Perfect! – Just very nice TV, good colour, worded well with google Chrome Cast. The only negative is the initial starting time. It takes a good 20 seconds for it to be responsive to the remote. Internet surfing is also tricky without keyboard and mouse. It is what it is I guess. Love it but will change to UHD soon Show details
A nice looking TV with some issues – This TV is very aesthetically pleasing and has a great picture quality. The SMART TV functionality is also very good but i have found that at times its connectivity to the INternet and the apps can also be a bit unstable. It is manageable however can get annoying if it were to persist. Show details
Good TV for the price – I had always had Samsung TVs previously but hubby wanted to get a bigger one and the price for this model was too good to pass up. Good picture, easy to use and has all the features we need. Big enough to keep everyone happy. No bad points to mention. Show details
Solid tv with a few quirks – A decent tv overall. I got it for a great price under $900. 55 inch size and picture quality is good as well. I find the internet connectivity average. The smart features are good for Netflix and iTunes but not much else. It doesn’t offer Stan and other apps with no ability to add these. I also find that once a month the tv needs to be… Read more
reset at the PowerPoint which is real strange. It will freeze or won’t connect to wifi until it gets a power reset even after software updates.
Other than that it’s a good tv.
A good TV for the price – It has been almost 2 years since I purchased the TV. It has performed well in the picture department. The audio is okay but the wifi leaves a lot to be desired. When all other wifi operated devices pickup the signal readily, it keeps dropping out connection from time to time. Show details
Excellent – Excellent Product with excellent features. This product is amazing and value for money product. It has all good features which I found on more expansive products than this. It has 4 hdmi ports and built in speakers are very good. This tv is best android tv where you can download apps directly. Show details
Excellent value for money, although there is a small glitch – This is a FHD TV that offers excellent picture quality. Of course if you are less than 1 meter away from the TV then you are able to see small pixels, but given that I watch TV about 2.5 meters away, all the HD content look fantastic. The built-in speakers are quite average so I have a separate sound-bar, but this is to be expected. The Smart TV… Read more
functionality is based on android system and is quite easy to use.
I would like to point out that we had an issue with LAN cable input (from router to TV) and when we enquired to Sony customer service, they advised me to connect wirelessly rather than for the cable input be fixed - apparently this is a "known issue". Lucky that I have the router right next to the TV otherwise if the connection drops frequently, I would not be happy!

Our one and only Sony – We've always had Samsung Smart TVs with a non functioning but existent Netflix and since it was time to get something bigger my husband bought this Sony 55 inch. It is well priced for its size, quality and build at under $1K. Looks tough and neat. Picture quality is what you would expect from an FHD. None of those shiny resolution that looks… Read more
unreal.
Sound could be better.
Navigating menus and settings using remote are much easier in this brand.
Netlfix finally works. It was easy to set up and connect to internet.
Only had one bout of playing up and not turning on but its all good now.
Looking to return it, wont buy sony anymore – the picture quality and usability is great. HOWEVER it regularly disconnects from the Wifi. Based on my research this is a reasonably common problem with Sony TVs. I had tried to change the settings and fix it but it continues to disconnect. Add to that it now switches itself off at random, we have had enough. TV is only 6 months old. We will be taking it back to GoodGuys and getting a different brand. Show details
Ok at first not anymore – Had tv since April 2017 from Harvey Norman worked really well at first . The last month Netflix won’t load most days , when it does load only plays for a little time just keeps rebooting . On Saturday just gone was watching povo tv then all of a sudden the tv started flicking between different settings like it was possessed . Later that day… Read more
went to watch a movie on my hard drive .
Only to find that it’s been wiped even the storage had gone . Now just a black box .
Called Sony on the 16/10/17 to be told that they don’t cover any damaged To any third party hardware or software.
Not happy at all lost all downloads & photo over 6 years worth my other tv work fine will not recommend Sony to anyone .
Absolutely bloody love it! – 10/10! Best telly I've ever owned. I love the voice prompts, I love the picture, I love the sound quality, the hdmi ports (first time I've ever had them), the way you feel like you're at the cinema, watching the telly!! And I loveeeeee that it keeps my kids occupied on rainy days! Thanks Sony. Show details
It's a Sony, Come on! – Yes, it's not as flashy as the Samsungs and LGs but if you want a brand that you cannot go wrong with, go with Sony. I have two of their TVs and Bluray player. If you use these with each other, the system recognizes and you could control the other with any remote that you have in your hand. 2 years and counting, still not issues at all! If I have to get a new TV, Sony is my first choice. Show details
A great TV for those who want a brand name on a lower budget – Bought this 55 inch TV for $850 & I am very pleased with it. I love the Netflix button on the remote control - it is so convenient. With built in Freeview plus, it has all the features I would want. Picture is a good quality. I use with a soundbar so I am unable to comment on the sound. Show details
Awesome product with decent price – Bought one from Costco last year and have to return the product because some HDMI port issues. Bought the same product again as this TV is one of the best in its category with decent price. Continuously using this with Foxtel, Netflix and never had any issue again. Sound quality and picture quality is best in the category and TV is compatible with… Read more
sound bars from other manufactures. And built in Chromecast is really an icing on the cake. It's so much fun and convenient to play videos from your phones or laptop without the hassle of any cables.
Great tv great picture – Really enjoy the high standard of picture you get with this TV. Love watching documentaries with slow-motion. The power saving features are great also but dos lag a little loading things when you first turn it on. Remote is great, with netflix button. Heaps of ports and usb function media centre so convenient and compatible with lots of formats,… Read more
but does have errors occasionally. Recording works well but could be better by being able to play it on other devices once recorded. Can only record channel you are watching, but can watch a recording eg football from beginning while it is still recording and it will play right through. Overall had a good experience with this TV and would buy Samsung again.
Good brand for good quality – I have been using Sony for many years and also using this model for past 2 years. I haven't had any problems or issues with this product, except that it hangs sometimes due to my plug-in USB. Quality of screen is superb; android system is easy to use; function well with my PS$ Show details
Pretty great TV – Picture quality is pretty great. Sound does the job well. Remote functionality is great (for example, dedicated button for Netflix). Not too many apps though, which is downside for a smart TV. However, if you use an external device like Amazon Fire Stick or Google Chromecast that downside can be handled pretty easily. Show details
Great picture quality and features – Bought this TV a month ago and am happy with it. Picture quality and sound are great and the Netflix button is so convenient. I havent needed to use all the ports yet but they seem more than adequate. Setting it up was fairly easy too, though you need two strong people to carry it out of the box. Show details
This is awesome! – Very good picture quality and speakers. I like this because of its in-built Netflix button in the remote. I wish there was also a YouTube button in the remote controller. I have not come across any problems and/or technical glitches thus far, so very satisfied as of now. Recommended ! Show details
