Staub Hexagon Cookware

Brilliant pan, looking for excuses to use it more – I have the 24cm Saute braiser pan (red) and it is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It has taken over as the go-to pan for nightly meals where it is large enough. Most curries, casseroles, pasta sauces and frying jobs end up in this beautiful dish. It goes from hob, to oven, to table. It looks great, but more importantly, its performance… Read more
is outstanding.
As for the honeycomb, I could take it or leave it. I think it gives a marginal performance advantage but it precludes you from using this pan for making things like pancakes and omelets, where the pattern would be undesirable.
The outer enamel is beautiful to behold and the cooking surface enamel is a black matte finish. It is not non-stick, but it does not claim to be. The lid fits tightly and has dimples for condensing liquid to baste the food below.
If you know how to use cast iron (low/medium heat only, preheat the pan etc.) then you won't be disappointed with this pan.
Staub are extremely high quality. I would rate them as much better than Chasseur (I have multiple cast iron items from both brands). I would rate the quality as on par with Le Creuset, perhaps even better.
You can often get these on sale, so keep your ear to the ground and grab them at a significant discount. I got mine for about $135 online on sale. They are a bargain and will last a life time if you know how to treat cast iron properly. Quality, beauty, performance, value (long-term). Nothing (if you know how to use cast-iron).
