poorly designed firmware installed on a crappy Chinese chip that fail's – developed a fault where it wont auto scan . during manual scan tv and radio channels are categorised wrong where radio and tv channels are put in wrong lists. tried watching the x files on a tv channel it put in radio list it only had audio. settop box wont detect firmware update usb i'm hopping strong has a way to connect a pc to the serial port to flash the firmware chip. works fine – Can't complain - does what it said on the box - probably 2 to 3 years old now, and now drives a 30 year old 14" analogue from the "video out" into a VHF channel 4 converter box. The old Rank Arena set hasn't got UHF (wasn't around in 1982). I have bought 3 Strong boxes, and all good. Good Venilation of the power supply is a must with inferior… Read more · 1
Chinese products, it seems.
Every new Strong has been better than the one before. reliable chinese parts are a lucky dip
Excellent – We paid $125 from Joyce Mayne and happy with the unit for the price. It remains to be seen how well the after sales service might be but if it works well that wont be a problem. Would have liked the USB option to have had more uses other than just music for MP3 files. Good picture quality - happy with the unit so far and no problems. Timer sets… Read more
automatically when you setup the stations (one review said it didn't know how to set the time). So far very happy with the picture quality - also only using cheap antennae Would like it to automatically reset the time when the unit is switched back on (for when you go away for a few days). But this is not that big a deal.
Terrible – CRAP AND NOT WORTH BUYING AS ITS CRAP AND THIS IS A REPLACEMENT this now is a replacement and now like the old one when a program is recorded it leaves its insignia on the screen IE I recorded two programs, one afternoon and one at night both were programed at the same time yet the afternoon one was destroyed as it had insignia on it yet the night one hadn't even though they were done at same time
Do NOT buy this unit! – The reason I am looking at this review page is because the 2nd unit has failed. The first one failed after a few months and was replaced by Strong under the 1 year warranty as it was unrepairable. Of course I had to drive to the repair place (not just exchange at the store I bought it at) and then wait a few weeks before being told it was… Read more
unrepairable and to then go back and pick up the new one. Lots of driving for nothing. The replacement has now failed and I will not buy another Strong product.
Poor quality and failed relatively quickly.
Good – Good for its price. does the job as expected. The manual gives u more options. However the manual is not very clear at places. For the price very good gadget does its job well good pics and radio stations. The manual guides u to more options and more info display on screen can be set up. Pls some one advise how to set up time on the unit, I may be… Read more

Excellent – Suits me fine- easy to navigate -(but not for hubby)although my 89 yr old mother has one as well and she does not have a problem either.I like the fact that you can flick through the channels and instantly see what is on with out hitting the OK button first. It is quick and easy, although I wish there was more information displayed and in more… Read more
detail, I find that the most annoying feature of all. easy to install & suits older TV Information button does not give the name of movies and incorrect page order
(or is that the TV channels fault)
